  1. I saw the dad posting that the kid was his son, somewhere.
  2. The Lucites, stand firm in a three way tie for first, owning a 14-11 record in the Florida State League South Division. They leave no doubt who the prospects are, with Wuilmer Becerra hitting everything in sight, though without much power as of yet, and Amed Rosario suddenly living up to early scouting assessments and more, pretty much doing it all, batting third, hitting for average, leading the team in power, stealing bases, and playing some slick shortstop. Both are sporting chin beards, so Abe Lincoln is well represented. Amed is still the youngest guy on the team, though they recently swapped out Patrick Biondi for Raphael Ramirez, who shares Amed's 1996 pedigree. The kid seems overmatched so far, skipping the South Atlantic League, but we'll see. They're a good team, but shallow, particularly in the pitching department, so their losses tend to be blowouts as they go deeper and deeper into their pen to lesser and lesser effect. So they sport a winning record with a losing run differential. The future will tell if that can hold up. 3. Insignia is what we call the "NY thing." It's confusing, because often enough the insignia and logo double for one another. I tend to think of the "logo" as the thing that used to be painted in the on-deck circle. But teams tend to have three logos: circular logo/shoulder patch/on-deck circle insignia breastplate ... and variations on those three. When they start using them interchangeably, I think it indicates a lack of faith in their trademarks. Making your breastplate double as your main logo is some weak stuff, Brewers! (Then again, the Mets incorporate their breastplate into the skyline logo.) A lot of teams feature their mascot in the oft-baseball-shaped circular logo/shoulder patch/on-deck circle. If not, the mascot can become a fourth logo.
  4. You've got more bloodlust for those poor shlub scouts than for Harvey. Anyhow, Wisler's no rookie. He's had the Mets number since he came up and debuted against them June 19.
  5. It's winning the initial confrontation, anyhow. The test against the best.
  6. Not to press the point, but he did whine his way into a World Series loss.
  7. Zvon wrote: Nah, if Harveys gonna be something it's gonna be with us. I'm not advocating, but I don't think the trade market this off-season would've agreed with that.
  8. Wisler gives Harvey an out, and still looked better bunting up there.
  9. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Great effort Harv. Maybe if this was a photo shoot we'd have had a better shot. He's looked lost all night. A better offense (read: anybody else in the NL) would've chased him by the third.
  10. Last inning, Harvey.
  11. Still looking for a hit, kids.
  12. Well, there's Wisler's edge.
  13. Can you remember any Mets pitcher who was this bad at bunting? Pedro Martinez? Frank Tanana?
  14. It's another session of the Matt Harvey Graduate Bunting Clinic.
  15. Ewww. He's gross. Cabrera just hit one about 400 feet but foul.

  17. That's problematic territory. Retrofit cards challenge us to accept (and often delight in) hairstyles, positions, ethinicities (at least at the big league level), and more that didn't exist in the time of the publication of the original set. The whole enterprise is a big exercise of what-if. It forces the artists and the collectors to adapt, and that's most of the fun, isn't it?
  18. Man, Duda goes with BMW like Curt Schilling and My Organic Market.
  19. I'm crazy about Matt Tuiasosopo. My favorite AAAA player. Hasn't appeared since 2013.
  20. Yeah, that strikes me as a nutty dude getting paranoid. ESPN's "story" is utterly consistent with usual practice. You'd be shocked at how many Fresh Prince of Bel Air I've only seen part of because the game ran long and they needed to get back on schedule in time for the evening news. Grow up, Curt, and stop stalking your old girlfriend.
  21. Apparently, Fox Sports has taken a pass on him for now. Does Breitbart have a sports division?
  22. He got Conforto, which is what he's out there for, so that's something. Nice to see he and Johnson get their rings. Bart the first 2016 Met starter to pitch into the eighth.
  23. He's, like, the toast of the Mets Internet, but I don't care. His front is flying open. [video:1uxmp4lp] 142 reactions · 61 shares | HOLY CRAP THIS IS ADORABLE YET...
