Holy smokes. Loney seemed so detached that I thought he lost it.

Two biggies. My stars and stirrups.

Staying with the same pitch since that double.

OK, that's a biggie.

Well this is messy. Nimmo should have been deeper, right?

Gulp. Leadoff walk. Did I say gulp?

That's just an amazingly bad cut from a guy who usually loves the breaking pitch down and in. Biggest spot for Familia all year. No pressure.

That was VERY Jerry. This could be a big night. Hang tight, Mets. You know, do more than hang tight. Let's tack on a few.

First triple-decker in Citi history? Really?

Wow, Cspedes gets something modestly close to the middle of the plate and hits it to Gowanus.

I just got a bone spur.

Loney is the only guy the opposition will come up and in on.

Get back to SNY. Rusty Staub is on!

I was going to write, "Yeah, well, there are no active, operating online fora for discussions of Alice!" but of course I was wrong.

How in the world does this stuff go un-noticed? Every backwater in America knows when they have former big leaguers living among them, and they note this in the small town newspapers when they pass, yet somehow the wire services these days miss it. Well, I looked up Some old Mets the other day Saw them all in my mind Dressed in road gray They said there was nothing Ol' Case' could have done There was nobody there that could play For the first two weeks You played right and center You slugged a triple! You wore sixteen! I wished I could have known I wished I could have called you Just to say goodbye Bobby Gene.

You see? Replenishing the bullpen is as easy as buying a guy a plane ticket. Lugo is a big righty out of Shreveport who was being hit hard as a starter, but has done much better since switching to long relief at the start of the month, knocking .6 runs off his ERA, and upping his strikeout rate meaningfully. As a 34th-rounder from a Division III school (2011, the first draft under Alderson and Depodesta), and a veteran of lumbar fusion surgery, who has even made it this far, he's a heckuva story. YEAH, BUT HOW ABOUT THAT METS UNIT?!!

Seize that day, Brandon Nimmo!

Mentioned in the roster thread, but tonight we welcome Seth Lugo to the bullpen, though I think an official announcement has yet to be made. Seth will be the first "Seth" and first "Lugo" in Mets history. He wore 67 during spring training, and if he sticks with that, he'll hit the debut trifecta, breaking nu Mets ground with each element of the back of his uniform. Seth was drafted in 2011 under the name "Jacob Lugo" and looks to be the fifth member of that draft class to debut with the Mets, following Jack Leathersich, Logan Verrett, Danny Muno, and Brandon Nimmo. That number grows from five to eight if you count the 2011 Met draftees (Michael Fulmer, Corey Mazzoni, John Gant) who have broken through with other organizations.

*snort*

I'm looking for Mookie to run hog wild on Jody Davis.

THAT is something I might actually pay full freight on.

Everybody who predicted a big fat zero for Muno, step forward. But how about that comparison to Pridie? Like Pridie, he's got a record for roids and an out-of-his-leauge lady friend.

Conforto going 4-12 with all singles in AAA, but only one strikeout.

Frayed Knot wrote: I don't question his deployment. Do or don't, claiming anyone is "shooting a bullpen" is still deeply misrepresentative.
