  1. 3-0. If you swing, De Aza, we will speak.
  2. It shtinks to see Flores' hands abandon him there. If he fluffs up, it's usually with his feet. A lot of guys with their heads not in the game right now.
  3. Bring on the Niese.
  4. Gosh that had no bidness being a double-play.
  5. Why does it seem like Adam Loewen changes from hitter to pitcher every other year.
  6. Commence unsucking, Mets! The title is clear.
  7. Everything hit hard this inning.
  8. We may be thinking of two different plays.
  9. d'Arnaud laid in a perfect throw, but the runner got in there.
  10. I tend to think that, under current league hiring guidelines, a team is almost required to do the full dog-and-pony show. So even if they were fully committed to Backman or Teufel or Dick Scott or whoever, they would name him as an interim initially before making him permanent in the offseason. I think a team in their position ought to have had their designated replacement lined up by now. Maybe they do, and Bob Geren left because he had come to realized it wasn't him.
  11. This call up also gives us a peak into how the middle infield organizational depth chart looks post-Dilson Herrera. Something like: Second Walker [crossout]Reyes[/crossout] Flores Kelly Rivera Reynolds Cecchini Mazzilli Romero Evans Burdick Gibson [crossout]McNiel[/crossout] Short [crossout]Cabrera[/crossout] [crossout]Reyes[/crossout] Reynolds Flores Cecchini Romero Kelly Rosario Evans Gibson Guillorme Johnson Colón

  13. 10 Facts! 1. Born in the Bronx! Grew up in the Throg's Neck Area. Lehman High School. If I find one Derek Jeter tee-shirt in your sports bag, it's code red time, kid. 2. Signed as an undrafted free agent! 3. His junior college coach? Mackey F. Sasser! Mackey also recommended him to the Mets. "I told Tommy, 'I can't believe nobody drafted T.J. You can't go wrong with him!'" (And the Mets better give him Sasser's #2 if they know what's good for them.) 4. In six minor league seasons, he has batted .300 or better five times. He's batted .320 or better each of the last four years. 5. Even if you're a Puerto Rican-American from the Bronx, when you're a ballplayer going to school in the south, you meet and fall for chicks named Ashton. It's just the way it is. Good choice in dress colors, Ashie. 6. They went for the chocolate fountain at the wedding. Had they called me, I'd've advised against it. 7. Two-time PCL Player of the Week this season. Also was a Player of the Month back in May when he hit .373 with five homers. 8. Wally has used him at first, second, and third this season, as well as eight games in left. He's played 139 games in the minors at shortstop, but none this season. 9. His 11 homers this season represents his career high. Thank you, PCL. 10. Hopes to play for Puerto Rico in the 2017 WBC. If any team doesn't need ringers from the Bronx, though, its Puerto Rico.

Well, there was the time Roger Clemens remained in the game despite unprecedentedly throwing a bat at a player without provocation during a World Series game. As far as historic screwings go. But I find myself riding the Terry era out, myself, so yeah.
  15. I stopped reading at "DH."
  16. Yeah, I have no doubt that Rodriguez can play a position—at least well enough to fake it through eight innings for a few days on a team that has already dealt themselves out. I mean, it's not like it bothered them that Derek Jeter couldn't play a position the last two years of his career.

  18. Whoah. You're hard core.
  19. Wednesday is Coln Night, the night in the rotation that seemingly has given the team the best chance of hammering out a win. It wasn't supposed to be this way, but is. Arizona is the only one of the 30 active MLB franchises that Coln hasn't scored a win against so adding to whatever rsum he hopes to turn in to the Hall of Fame at the end of his career is a little added motivation for the big galoot. The Neil Diamondbacks counter with left-hander Robbie Ray, so an added bonus is a possible debut by right-handed TJ Rivera, perennial .300 hitter in minor leagues across the USA.
  20. I'm more than ready to pinch-hit for Kevin Long. By the way, that's the problem with d'Arnaud's swing. It's long. As for Kelly getting a walk, he was the tying run. One tends to look for a bomb in those situations.
  21. He sure delivered a message to me.
  22. I rooted for Kelly there but... he has this stance ... makes it look like he's cowering. He looks like Shaggy clinging to a sarcophagus up there.
