  1. Howard got a lot of homers off the Mets, but not a lot off the Mets' bullpen, as he had to face Feliciano. Herrera should have caught that ball, but he didn't and the Mets lead.
  2. Which game are you following? Keep us up to date!
  3. Wrigley is Wrigley, but I can't imagine how useless an SRO pass to a playoff game would be.
  4. Remember how the Mets had stockpiled all that talent, but it was nothing compared to Houston's? Houston is out of it. Remember that team that beat the Mets in the World Series last year, despite trailing in each game, and actually would have lost had the games ended at a more fortuitous time? Kansas City? They're out of it, too. Remember that team, entitled by God-given right to sip form the cup of victory and dominate the civic and baseball culture? They are the Yankees, and they are eliminated. Rivals of the last 20 years, Atlanta and Philadelphia? Going home. Miami upstarts who seemed to be stealing the Mets' bacon midseason? Done like the seventh son. Talent-laden hopefuls like the White Sox, the Angels, the Pirates, each with MVP talented superstars tucked in their back pockets? They're going home. But the Mets? For the second straight year, they live to play on.
  5. I'm a-guessing a vet-free lineup, full of Vegas regulars. [*:3bj00ajk]Nimmo, cf[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Cecchini, ss[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Rivera, 3b[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Conforto, lf[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Campbell, 1b[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Kelly, rf[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Plawecki, c[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Reynolds, 2b[/*:m:3bj00ajk] [*:3bj00ajk]Ynoa, sp[/*:m:3bj00ajk][/list:o:3bj00ajk] I however wouldn't mind them using the lineup to get a few swings for Lagares or even trying to run Flores out there, if that's feasible.
  6. A light warmup for Noah Syndergaard, and then the Mets and the 2016 regular season bid farewell to each other. [youtube:2ei76it9]rL8Dj5xOjm0[/youtube:2ei76it9]
  7. Think I saw the B-word on his lips.
  8. Fighting and getting a dinker works for me. I wonder how much their RISP numbers have changed the last six weeks.
  9. Or screwing the Mets, as it were.
  10. Pinch-run for Loney, man. OE: OK, I guess.
  11. Surprised we didn't go to a lefty to face Howard. I know it's only the sixth, but that strategy has more or less worked for the team for 10 years. And it's not like they don't have a full pen available.
  12. Yup. Meanwhilst, the bat flipping is getting contagious. Nice swing, Loney.
  13. That's pretty much the way it is. The Mets score a second run, but they live and die with that hook slide thing, don't they?
  14. Jay Bruce, turning the 0-2 count into an intentional walk. Very nice to have him that locked in and suddenly feared.
  15. Hey, Bart passes Charlie Hough. No small accomplishment.
  16. Buccos getting it done, riding a 3-0 lead after two, with all the damage coming from one swing off the bat of Jung Ho Kang. Antonio Bastardo may end up helping the Mets after all.
  17. They talk graciously about Ryan Howard's career coming to a close, but he's still getting paid ten million next year.
  18. It's their theme, man. The last two years, even as they've swapped so many personnel in and out of their pitching staff, have featured some of the least-walking-est seasons in team history. At least, the least-walking-est teams without a Saberhagian factor. They've been easily the top two seasons in team history in terms of SO/BB ratio. Like, .95 and 1.65 standard deviations above the third place Mets squad (1990). I think they've found something of a formula for success.
  19. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe Sunday.
  20. Looks like this is going to be more of a game that matters than expected
  21. Puig comes up and "like a blare of trumpets, the boos go out into the night." This Scully guy ain't playing around.
  22. Smartolo Colón and the strained foot represents the PLAYOFF BOUND New York Mets as they entertain Phil Klein of the Philadelphia Phillies and a host of his phellow relievers on National television. That's the treatment playoff bound teams get. [youtube:36i05ltu]qXd0zqyD7GM[/youtube:36i05ltu]
  23. Not bad for a season that started with a lifetime suspension, and for a while, only got worse from there.
  24. Tough to see Mackanin tossed from this game, because I don't think he has too many ahead of him.
