It's the extra Y that shows the sort of professional polish I've come to expect from Hahnnie. Good work.

I don't really buy that. I mean, I certainly support that move, but the idea that it's painfully obvious is at least somewhat belied by their performance last year as starters.

And our #1 goalkeeper.

The mammoth master cut could take timeline jumps (flashbacks, credits scenes) within a movie and push them forward or back in the chronology.

You know who's not going to plug in any gaps in the Mets rotation? Vance Worley, that's who. Not anytime soon, anyhow. Worley got raked, caked, and staked yesterday for nine runs in 4 2/3 innings. Four homers allowed. That's just not getting it done. I don't care if you're pitching on the moon. Worley is one of six pitchers the 51s have used this season with double-digit ERAs. You know who they should use as pitchers? Hitters! Centerfielder Matt den Dekker has a 0.00 ERA after 2.0 innings and catcher Colton Plaia has given 4.0 innings to the cause and come out with a 2.25 ERA. One run six innings for the two of them! Colton could use the work. The recent activation of Jeff Glenn from the DL along with the demotion of the Tomás Nido has left the catching corps a might crowded, with Plaia, Glenn, and Nido joining Johnny Monell to form a four-man catching staff. Though Worley's former Phillie teammate Cody Asche is only 10-42 with 4 walks since joining the 51s, seven of his 10 hits (3 doubles, 1 triple, 3 homers) have been for extra bags, adding up to an impressive .571 slugging percentage. Need somebody to get on? Well until today, that someone was Asche's fellow infielder Luis Guillorme, working his way through the circuit to the tune of a .394 OBP. Basically, Chris Flexen (3-3, 3.40) is the only starter you want out there. The rest are currently leaving the mound looking like some kind of crime scene. And so, despite a neat, little 4-2 record this week, the 51s enjoyed today's off day while sitting 7.0 games of the pace in the Pacific Coast League Southern Division, fourth of four teams. Brainac is an asshole. MMM. Meanwhile, happy belated (by two weeks) fiftieth birthday.

Yup. Conforto ends it with a nine-foot groundout. What a thriller!

And here comes all the Diamond Dry they haven't already used all afternoon.

An eight-pitch homer is the next-best thing!

Two out in the ninth and Nimmo up. Here's to him working a 16-pitch walk.

Maybe you need to stop doing tasks. The Jays always score when you're being productive.

I think Orber Moreno just came into this game.

Get that Empire City Casino ad out of the Ralph Kiner Television Booth.

Curtis Pride came 23 years after Bill Faul retired.

It's a blowout and it's raining. Better get Lóbaton out of there. You don't want to take chances.

You're hardly alone. The president himself has called Steinbrenner his best friend. [fimg=500:2m8rst26]https://cdn-s3.si.com/s3fs-public/images/1998-George-Steinbrenner-wife-Joan-Donald-Trump-05936993.jpg[/fimg:2m8rst26]

This team needs Conforto to play like the All-Star he is.

A mid-inning delay to replace a foot-scraper?

The case against Steinbrenner is certainly not limited to the fact that he impulsively fired his managers. But if you like him, you like him.

Lobaton #untenable We have a lefty throwing 90 here. We should be able to pulverize him. It would sure be easier with Céspedes available, though. And Frazier. And d'Arnaud. And Plawecki. And Rivera. And Wright.

#unstoppable

A two-out homer by Justin Smoak allows Wheeler to keep his first-inning-hole tradition going. Thankfully, it's not a deep one.

They had more talent at other positions to protect from the Rule V Draft in the offseason.

I salute the Mets for reaching into their depth. Better to lose key players for the odd 10-day stretch than the odd half season. You built a system for a reason. NOW IS NO TIME TO PANIC! I was thinking that Syndergaard knocking in the first two runs in consecutive at-bats shamed everybody into hitting with runners in scoring position for the first time this month.
