Maybe Mickey's on the take.

Looking like I picked the wrong game to squat the IGT.

Why in the world are we playing a career .077-hitting pitcher to pull?

Five-sniffle now after the short, shite workday by Flexie. I still expect a brutal Met attack.

There he is! He's alive! I mean, you know, technically!

Conforto into the shift.

I like how Flexen covered his mouth with his glove as he walked off the mound, keeping the expletives off of TV. That was a pro move right there.

Well, you see, you want to save Lugo for key relief work. That's why this first inning by Flexen is so necessary.

The Mets realized they hadn't made a pitcher transaction in two whole days, panicked, reached into a bag full of pitcher names, and drew Smith. Sorry, kid. Rockin' Doc wrote: The Mets could win their first series since since sweeping the Diamondbacks in a 3 game set at CitiField (May 18-20). Since that time they have lost 10 series and manged a split 2 series (4 game set @ Atlanta and the recent 2 game set @ Toronto). Hopefully, the team can get the first series win in 7 weeks. The Mets. Can't. Lose.

Rays righthander Nathan Eovaldi goes up against the double-digit ERA of Chris Flexen. The Mets can't lose. In fact, I'm calling for a two-homer afternoon from Dominic Smith. I can't help myself. [youtube:1fshn0vn]MBENy1ceAm8[/youtube:1fshn0vn]

Blugh.

Take Romo DOWN.

Not sure how Rosario didn't make that play.

Having just tied their game against the rival Staten Island Yankees at 2-2 in the sixth, the Brooklyn Cyclones look to improve on their 11-10 record. That might not sound like much, but it's within striking distance of first place in the New York-Penn League McNamara Division, 2 1/2 games out of first, and showing some vast improvement on the dis-spiriting 24-52 finish of 2017. The team is laying it all out there with a low-power, high average old-timey attack, led by rightfielder Jose Miguel Medina, (.306 / .383 / .486 // .869) and firstbaseman Chase Chambers (.333 / .421 / .424 // .845). The two of them despite hitting the ball all over the park, have only a one homer apiece, despite playing in 17 and 18 games respectively. If that disappoints you, look at those OBPs again. Them numbers don't lie. And despite the team leader (thirdbaseman Brian Sharp) having only two homers, the team has stolen 18 of 25 attempted bases, good for 72%, and almost one per game. Is that going to get it done? Well, it might if it's put to work while Jaison Vilera is on the mound. JV has twirled it to the tune of a 1.86 ERA in his four starts so far, striking out 25 and walking eight in 19 1/3 innings. That's not a lot of innings per start, granted, but it helps when you have the likes of Yeudy Colón coming out of the pen. UD has picked up three wins against no losses while compiling a too-small to mention 0.93 ERA, giving up but a single run in his first 9 2/3 innings, striking out 16 (!!) while walking five. You want to be at the game when Colón is pitching. But hey, that's a feeling we've all felt before. I need to type faster. Since I started this post, Staten Island scored a run in the eighth from a Junior Soto homer off of Brooklyn reliever Billy Oxford. A big BOOOOOOO!!!! on that. Brooklyn's Nazi-sounding outfielder Ross Adolph had two steals in three attempts. Or "Candy-O," as it were.

FUCK YOU, BASEBALL!

Has thrown to exactly one batter (induced a groundout from Miguel Rojas coming in in the first Oswalt game) since June 24. [fimg=500:1jchruq9]https://media.gannett-cdn.com/28911775001/28911775001_5797771628001_5797773130001-vs.jpg?pubId=28911775001&quality=10[/fimg:1jchruq9]

The Mets are lucky to get one out on that play. They screwed it up like four different ways.

Cast into obscurity by laws that want them to keep their powers at bay and their existence under wraps, one of the Parrs gets an opportunity from a mysterious, wealthy benefactor who offers them a chance put their super-skillz back to use. The kids are kept in the dark, but is this mystery person on the up and up, or just a full-grown child with an axe to grind? Will the kids and parents and Uncle Frozone be able to join forces in time to save the day and redeem the status of superheroes in the eyes of the government and the mid-century modern society around them? Isn't this the plot to the original movie? [fimg=444:3txa6jau]https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/wA4AAOSwvzVa0oES/s-l1600.jpg[/fimg:3txa6jau]
