  1. I thought that ball was caught.
  2. Delightfully lazy defense being played by the Miami Mattinglys tonight.
  3. Let's call up Jeff McKnight.
  4. Jarring to see Steve Phillips and Bobby Valentine next to each other in the family picture.
  5. Smith, Nido, McNeil, Reyes — this rally is all full of Mets of the future.
  6. Vic Sage wrote: Reyes. really? WHY?? Reyes. Really.
  7. I'm all in for an aggressive outreach to keeping alumni as close to the family as possible. As far as team historian, I've long considered Marty Noble to be the unofficial holder of that title.
  8. It's a doubleheader. Evahbody plays.
  9. It's been a weird second half in that I always feel confident going into a Wheeler game, and always feel wary going into a deGrom game.
  10. I'm not particularly sold on gravitas. Or backbone. They can be the sort of virtues or character traits or job qualifications that are more projection than substance. I'm also not buying in on the "rescue" mentality. I love the notion of a GM charged to "elevate the potential of the Mets brand into something sustainably unique." Though I think the Mets brand is that. And sustainably so. I just think they aren't particularly good at leveraging it. In fact, brand management is the job I'm applying for.
  11. Houston Astros Brad Peacock is out with, you guessed it, hand, foot and mouth disease.

  13. Who was on base for the Piazza post-9/11 homerun? I'll go off book and guess Matt Lawton.
  14. Biting the hand that feeds you is a game that you imagine any competitor should be willing to do, but the money is hewj enough that the conservative choice is the way folks go almost every time. It makes Colin Kaepernick's choice even more remarkable.
  15. Smitty at first. Let's go, Mets.
  16. What would ceetar do if the word "garbage" was suddenly unavailable?
  17. I'm guessing it'll be PR Dude Emeritus or the like. Forced marginalization thinly disguised as a promotion. Former and current players? "Jay has been a Godsend to this team. But hey, don't ask me. Ask Elliot Maddox!!"
  18. I'd totally get myself and my family killed with an ill-timed fart.
  19. I can see about 10 solutions. The main one is to end the six-years-of-control thing outright. Kill it with fire.
  20. Big-name prospects forcibly held back from appearing until late May also kicks the Rookie of the Year race right in the teeth.
  21. Mets still manage to tumble a half game in the standings as San Francisco — who have done almost nothing right for the last month — drop another to the Braves.
  22. Family Day with Bernie Millan eschewing the old man's trademark batting grip. [fimg=600]https://media.gettyimages.com/photos/bernie-millan-threeyear-old-son-of-the-mets-2nd-baseman-is-about-to-picture-id926243838[/fimg] Bernie played five years in the minors, mostly with the Mets organization. He certainly had his father's power stroke, clubbing three homers in 475 minor league games. Not a lot of doubles or triples either. Or even stolen bases. Got his share of sacrifice bunts in, though.
  23. [fimg=600:3rnoist6]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CuQyWxAWYAA06b6.jpg[/fimg:3rnoist6]
  24. On the other hand, I tended to think Omar was installed by MLB as well. In a different sense of the word, anyhow.
  25. Don't think for a minute there isn't one or more there already.
