  1. They sure play well for Robert Palmer. Great choice to start the thread, by the way. It's like Robert & the Family Stone.
  2. I hereby name the dugout guest "Todd Ratt."
  3. That's some good chowda, McNeil.
  4. Syndergaard saves himself with a good play and the help of a questionable dive.
  5. What I'm learning from this rat chase is that the visitors' dugout at Fenway is filthy.
  6. What a waste, man. The Mets need to be taking on the Braves right now while their elimination number is above sea level.
  7. As they swept the day away from Miami, the Mets passed the idle Giants in the league-wide standings. That places them 11th of the 15 National League teams. Next within reach is Pittsburgh, 4 1/2 games in front and idle tonight. They are heading off to a challenging matchup in Milwaukee.
  8. Lugo is murdering it out there.
  9. As the Mets take a two-run lead, what kind of Bernard Gilkey of a throw was that by Ortega?
  10. He's certainly cut down the flailing at the inside slider at his knees, so yeah, I'm chuffed by his second-half progress.
  11. As the Mets take the lead, I'm thinking, "They're playing pretty well, and their last-place opponent is playing terribly, and that's just enough for them to get one-run edges. But that's not real fair. Miami only played terribly in Game One, and that was probably due in part to them all coming down off their energy drink highs during the long rain delay.
  12. Fuck you, fates! The Mets win!!

  14. Disgraceable Matz gave us a winnable game. Let's get through the top o' the seventh and win this 'un.
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I'm... not sure what that means! He was so in the zone he was like The Terminator. No matter the situation, he just did what he was programmed to do.
  16. That's Matz's first career homer. It's his 10th and 11th career RBI. Let's go Ohtani with him and let him play every day.
  17. He pointedly avoided the word, while acknowledging that his full expectation is to never play again.
  18. I know it's an overplayed song, but Dwight Gooden looked older'n' Kranepool in those photos.
  19. He probably moves to the mysterious and baleful Physically-Unable-To-Perform List.
  20. They maybe can't put the number up until the contract is up. But what a great Mets career. What a shitty way to end. I hate scapegoating. But I have trouble keeping Barwis out of all this.
  21. Mark Shapiro gave Peter Brand his first job. He's OK with me.
  22. How about Smitty? He has power in Kweenz but not in Vegas.
