  1. Tejada greets the new pitcher with a LINE DRIVE AND IT'S ROLLING ROLLING ROLLING!! Mets up 13-6 and still only ONE OUT! The Scrotum/Wilkes-Barre bullpen can do nothing! NOTHING!!
  2. TWO-RUN DOUBLE!! Edgy MD wrote: I take it back. Travis Taijeron is batting for Lowrie. Doesn't Lowrie need ABs? He was up 4X but he can't have 5th time? Maybe he had a plane to catch. I assume there were instructions from management to limit his at-bats and/or get him on a plane.
  3. Sure. He's also been pushed a bit. Espy walks and Krizan comes up with the baggies juiced.
  4. I take it back. Travis Taijeron is batting for Lowrie. Walk to TT. Danny Espinosa, team RBI leader, at the plate, first and third, one out.
  5. One-out wild pitchie to Lowrie and it's a 9-6 lead with a runner on third. David Hernandez (former Red) on the mound for the SWiBs.
  6. Gregor Blanco attempts to bunt the runners over, gets two quick strikes, keeps squaring with two strikes as SWB pitcher throws two in the dirt to even the count at 2-2. Then Blanco quits squaring and lines one up the middle. One run home for an 8-6 lead and first and third as the RailRiders go to their fifth pitcher. Top of the order with Arismendy Alcantara.
  7. Ali Sanchez, woist hitter on the team, grabs a bunt single and the Mets are back to bidness with two on and none out.
  8. And Breyvic Valera flies to right for out number three. If the Mets end up using Santana as a starter, remember that he only has five or six innings in him.
  9. Nogosek comes on and induces SWB leadoff hitter Manny Alvarez into a double-play, but a run scores and the tying run is on third with two out!
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Syracuse reapplies he gas pedal and goes up 7-1 after back-to-back run-scoring doubles by Espinosa and Krizan. Which is good, because a seventh inning rally has pulled SWB within 7-5. STILL NONE OUT AND THE BASES FILLED!

  12. Unfortunately, it's debatable because managers are loathe to rock the boat if they don't gotta. And it often takes a piano falling on their heads to convince them that they've gotta.
  13. That lineup has secondbasemen everywhere, and none of them are named Canó. I guess he's reporting to the Mets.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: New Nido is ++. Good work. Thanks. But I might hafta tweak Nido again. That new background is swallowing up Robin's cape. I can't speak for everybody, but I think most of us are more interested in his scaly shorts. Thankfully he didn't assume the full crouch while playing catcher, or one of his little guys might have escaped.
  15. Lefty Specialist wrote: Edgy MD wrote: Well, now the team won't have Bashlor available tomorrow. Mind. Bogglingly. Genius? They wound up using Diaz when they shouldn't have had to. Stupid. I certainly could be wrong, but I think the work suited him. It kept his momentum going, got him the high of walking off the mound and shaking everybody's hands after striking out the last guy in a victory, and put seeds of fear into the minds of his National opponents that, oh shit, maybe he's good again.
  16. Brandon Nimmo reached base his first four times after returning from three months on the shelf. He also made crucial hidden contributions to the win by extending his first two at-bats to help put a hot pitcher on the ropes. I move that, if he continues to show this sort of sharpness the next day or two, he ought to return to the leadoff slot he left when he got hurt. McNeil has done good work there, but he's a free swinger that will have trouble matching Nimmo's OBP skillz without hitting .350. Get a taste of this, especially against righties. Nimmo, cf Davis, lf McNeil, 2b Alonso, 1b Conforto, rf Ramos, c Frazier, 3b Rosario, ss Some Tough Bastard, p If Nimmo's demonstrably ready, that could be a devastating top of the lineup, hopefully put McNeil in a better position to show what he's got, and leave at the back end a 6-7-8 capable of picking up big two-out hits. Nimmo could be the key. THE KEY! Panik can sub for Frazier on occasion with McNeil floating over to third. Davis will continue to be the softest spot on defense, but an Lagares coming in to center and moving Nimmo to left could be pretty strong. Canó can be the lefty threat off the bench that they've rarely had all year, and if he shows he's sharp, start against the toughest righties with McNeil floating out to left. It could all happen. And it could happen to you!!
  17. New Nido is ++. Good work.
  18. Noah Syndergaard this afternoon entered the top 20 in all-time wins for Mets 'pitchers. I think when a player passes that tub full of long-time relievers at the back end is the day a pitcher becomes a man. 19. On the strength of the arm of Harol Gonzalez and the bat of Aaron Altherr, the Mets beat The Rochester Red Wings in The Flour City, 8-4. Combined with a loss by Yankee-affiliated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Mets https://www.milb.com/milb/news/harol-gonzalez-aaron-altherr-push-mets-into-division-tiebreaker-showdown/c-310486094pulled into a first-place tie with S/W-B on the last day of the season. Gonzo has gone 6-0 / 2.68 since his callup from Binghamton, following his 6-4 / 3.14 line in AA. That combines to a 12-4 record and a 3.01 ERA overall this season in 137 2/3 innings. MLB.com does not list Harol among the Mets' top 30 prospects, I sense some Sterling in his future. Tomorrow's one-game playoff is at 1:00 PM. I haven't seen an announced starter yet, but I think the smart money is on Ervin Santana.
  20. Phillies, Cubs, and Braves all win. Arizona up 8--0 on San Diego. Looks like the only rival the Mets can hope to gain on today is Milwaukee. Of course, they sure gained a game on Washington.
  21. "Welcome to Nationals Park — the facility that killed Harry Kalas."
  22. Well, now the team won't have Bashlor available tomorrow. Mind. Bogglingly. Genius?
  23. Two out in the ninth and Bashlor blows the shutout by giving up a three-run homer to some guy name Asdrubal Cabrera.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: Howie absolutely killed it that half inning. He's sounded kinda cranky in other innings. The extended grumbling about inter-league play. Sorry the Cubs and the Mariners -- the game he was bellyaching about the most -- aren't natural rivals. But I like to see teams I normally don't get to see. And yes, the Mariners come into town to see the White Sox. But there are a lot of other cities that don't have another team. Oh, yeah, half the fun about Howie is that he's willing to be adamantly wrong.
