The Los Angeles Times wrote: A few winters ago, Parker's parents convinced him to undergo a hair-replacement operation. It did not work as intended, and it left him with a significant scar spanning the back of his head in the shape of a toothless smile. It's visible when he's not wearing a cap, and he takes it off each time he takes the mound, showing the scar as he faces second base and prays. Parker prefers not to discuss the operation, but he understands why people ask. He doesn't let it flood his boat. “Here's what I take away from that deal,” said his father, Richard. “I take the fact that he doesn't care about the scar; he doesn't care what happened. He keeps his hair short and he's not afraid to take off his hat. That's what I love about Blake. I'm telling you, I love the kid because he just doesn't worry about it. “Every time he turns to second to say his prayer, that thing shines, and I see that big smile on the back of his head.” What I take away, Dad, is that you convinced your son to get elective surgery, because he wasn't enough for you as he was, and now he's got a massive scar to show the world.

Let There Be Brach. (Why didn't he get the ball in that ninth-inning debacle the other night?)

Yeah, he's a quick guy. I noticed how fast he got down the line too. Corey Dickerson and Jeff McNeil should start a club.

I think being ahead beats being tied.

Fielding Culbreath was sick of his calls getting overturned, so he decided to blow an unreviewable call.

I was about to tell Conforto to bunt a double, but clubbing a 440-foot homer is good too.

I'm all for running 3-2, but not with LaCock at the plate.

Todd Pratt, by the way — as the Mets score the first run — is a rather cherubic figure in retirement. Still looks like a big goofy kid.

Matz came up and in on him, and gave him about as close a shave as you can give a guy without breaking his jaw. Harper somehow dodged it with his head, but got hit on the hand. Fortunately, the knob of the bat took about 60% of it and the meaty side of his hand seemed to take the rest. Looked like it hurt and will swell up, but I don't think he broke anything. As he dodged the ball, his helmet flew off, and has his head jerked back, his mane of hair flew in one direction and then another, and my God, it was fabulous!

Fantastique double play. Let's totally keep Rosario.

A lot of playoff beards out there tonight.

And I fought to advance the reputation of Halperin Shoes.

While I completely agree LL teams shouldn't share the names and logos and such of big league teams, once the money's on the table, things go to shit.

If anything, she liked it more than I did, but (1) she's uncharacteristically and almost inexplicably a sucker for almost any puke gag, and (2) her brother is a metuhl musician living the life (see below) , so the relatability of it all was even keener for her. She actually wants to own it, and owning films isn't her thing. http://petesrocknewsandviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/18425057_201311230378914_2181772786996813466_n.jpg>

No dix. No bewbz. Occasional F-bombs, a brief implied zex scene with a lothario ham of a musician banging a groupie. A few jokes about the matter-of-factness of metalheads being diabolists, animal butchery gags, and puke gags too. An unexpected death of a likeable character. And a little BREAKIN' THE LAW! BREAKIN' THE LAW!. Maybe the odd grave-robbing. In other words, a bunch of stuff 13-year-olds LOVE in their movies. Not so much stuff that moms love about what 13-year-olds love in their movies. Surprisingly follow-able, despite being subtitled, because Finnish is allegedly so different even from the other Scandanavian languages, that when they converse even with Norwegians, the common language is English. Might be even a little more fun for a family to enjoy after a trip to the low countries. Though I don't want to oversell it and have Ms. Bucket and the Bucketheads hate me forever. I'll try to get Ms. Edgy to weigh in.

Ms. Edgy meets one of her new piano students, about 10 years old. Ms. Edgy: So, your mom said that you played baseball this year. What team were you on? Student: The Sox. Ms. Edgy: You mean, like, the Red Sox? Student: Yeah, but we wore Yankees uniforms. Ms. Edgy: That sounds weird. Mom (calling from kitchen): Tell her why. Ms. Edgy: Yeah, why? Student: Well, our coach was assigned to our team just before the season started. And he found out that we were the Yankees, and he said we couldn't be the Yankees, because the Yankees were evil and everybody knows that they're evil. We told him that the name was already set and the uniforms were already ordered. And he said, that's fine, but he's not going to coach an evil team, so we couldn't be the Yankees. That the NY on our shirts and hats would stand for "Not Yankees." Ms. Edgy: WOW! Student: Yeah, he actually wanted us to duct tape OVER the NY.

=Ceetar post_id=21033 time=1567734379 user_id=102] sure, but you're especially _not_ going to pitch them in the 9th of 6th run games.

Well, I mean, if it was the worst bullpen in the league for fifty straight years, I dunno. But I understand that. I think I suggested as much. Nonetheless, approaching crunch time by the tightening up the number of pitchers who see even medium-leverage action, by lopping a pitcher or two off the back end of your rotation to strengthen the bullpen, is hardly an exotic approach.

No Mets on tonight? What a good night to take in a viewing of Heavy Trip.

Nineteen-eighty-seven. Season one, episode two of the cheeseball TV series Beauty and the Beast. Approximately 41 minutes and 38 seconds into the episode, a character who has been taken against her will is left behind with a silent minion as the evil boss leaves the scene, saying "Watch her." The abduction victim turns to the minion with a sense of irony and asks, "So ... (shrug) ... how 'bout those Mets?" Episode written by George R.R. Martin.

Lugo's your man, there. I think that some of the best relievers you develop are going to be guys who were starters right up to the bigs, but either don't initially perform when they try to crack the rotation, or are locked out by a group that the organization is committed to. I count Lugo here, but also Mejia, Heilman, and Parnell. Part of what drives 'em is the notion that they deserve to be a starter.

The dance continues. And they could still add some (Nogosek?), though they'd probably have to Donnie Hart somebody to get someone you haven't seen already yet. Hey, if you want him in the pen, that'll work, but hopefully, adding one more established arm in the relief corps helps even on deGrom Days.

I laid Matz out as an example. Certainly it could be Stroman or even Wheelio. They would only be skipped two times through the rotation anyhow. You can skip one this time and another the next time. But it's not about sitting anybody. It's about (1) shaving off any delays in the arrival of Jake deGrom and the top of the rotation, and (2) augmenting the bullpen with one more established and capable pitcher, which is what teams do in the post-season anyhow.
