  3. Looks like Syndergaard for the 8th - probably until he allows a baserunner at which point it's Familia till the end.
  4. That was a wild stat quoted by Ronnie just before the break: 57 (I think it was) of deGrom's then 103 pitches had come with a runner in scoring position. Not just with a guy on base but a RiSP!! That IS working, that's the way you do it.
  5. At least it is on my board.
  6. Good thing Murphy came to play because I think Cespedes, Wright, and Duda have a total of one fair ball between them.
  7. It wasn't (hasn't been) pretty but, all in all, big Jacob did OK for himself tonight.

Network announcing is different than local station announcing; you have to talk about different things on a different level to a different audience. Long-time Met fans found this out years ago with Tim McCarver.
  9. 5+ innings worth of pitches to get through 4 - and most of them high-stress pitches. I'd be tempted to pull him here, although if Wilmer gets on you probably leave him in to bunt.
  10. Opposing pitchers seem to have no problem getting sac bunts down. Twice in a row, first pitch. Two successful sac bunts would take our staff maybe 10 ABs

I guess they prefer to have these interviews continue to be a complete waste of everyone's time. Sure. But the second one of these haircuts with a mic start asking managers even slightly probing questions the agreement for them to do this disappears. Now, granted, that wouldn't be such a bad thing for us, but the networks would then have all that leftover mascara and nothing to use it for.

  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That triple by Murphy was the first in Mets NLDS history. Demoted back to a double + an error.
  14. I think Turner has more doubles this week than he had during his entire run as a NYM. OK, maybe not, but I bet it's close.

  16. Gotta get somebody up oe: and so he does.
  17. Our only non-K's so far are the two hits and the Conforto robbery. That all says something although I'm not sure what.
  18. Well, that could have been worse and he finished strong. So there's that.

  20. The ladies are all primed and ready - although they appear to be in the wrong ball park (it was a pre-Game 3 picture). [fimg=500]https://thenypost.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/metswag.jpg?w=720&h=480&crop=1[/fimg] Specifically that's Stacy Harris deGrom, Molly Beers Wright, Bethany Nieuwenhuis, Lean Eckman Niese, Taylor Francel Plawecki, and the not-yet-related-by-marriage to Travis d'Arnaud, Britney Cobain (acc to the NY Post) A bit surprised that the non-blonde percentage is as high as 33% in this particular random sample.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Sam Dyson is catching heat for having said Bautista "disrespected the game" but I think what he really meant was that that act disrespected Sam Dyson and the Rangers, which it did. Get off my lawn if you must but the erosion of sportsmanship in sports exhibited here troubles me inasmuch as it sort of condones this culture of ugly narcissists we've become. In general I agree, although I'm willing to cut Bautista some slack due to the YUGE-ness of the HR and the genuine emotion it triggered. Far different from the over-celebrating that sometimes goes on after more routine plays. Fine, you finally sacked the QB after trying to get after him for 47 straight plays. Now end your fucking dance and get ready for the next play you idiot. I remember Deion Sanders in his early days with the Falcons intercepting a pass late in the 4th quarter and taking in when he team was down something like 35-0 and doing his high-stepping / check-me-out dance all the way. I would think that kind of thing would make his teammates want to pummel him but apparently the opposite was true and a sign, I think, of how ingrained (and this was what, 20 years ago?) that kind of narcissistic culture is in the NFL and how much I'd like to keep it out of baseball. But big plays call for big emotion and I'd like to apply different standards for the equivalent of Bautista's shot vs some Tuesday night HR in June.
  22. The Cueto trade looked shaky for much of the second half of the season, but it paid off tonight. Blue Jays at KC for the AL crown starting Friday night.
  23. I was thinking about a frilly pink nightie with my matching bunny slippers ... but of course that's my usual Thursday outfit whether I'm watching baseball or not.
