  2. Ten years in the 'Pool! You must be awfully wrinkled at this point.
  3. And our guardian angels in Cincinnati couldn't keep their streak going either. Reds went up 5-0 on Roark by the 2nd inning but had given it all back by the 4th. The Nats then went [u:38cpoq8f]up[/u:38cpoq8f] 10-5 by the 6th; Reds fought back to 8-10 in the 7th. Still down by 2 in the 9th, Cindy got a run in off Papelbon AND had the bags loaded with no outs ... but failed to score: Pop-out, K, then the long fly that would have at least tied the game if it had come as one of the previous outs.
  4. Dang, I thought Walker had it.
  5. According to BB-Ref (and adding on today's two hits) fully 1/4 (24.96%) of Ichiro's MLB hits have been infield hits. 690 or 2,767 87.3% are singles.
  6. Well, they outlasted Fernandez so here's their chance. Mattingly once again going with a reliever who got hit and threw a bunch of pitches the day before.
  7. As long as we don't have to face Fernandez with a lineup devoid of Duda, d'Arnaud, Wright, Cespedes, and Lagares ... oh wait!

After a four-game series with Seattle in which the Pads gave up 9, 16, 6, and 16 runs runs (including blowing a 12-2 6th inning lead on Thursday) one would assume that SD is looking for pitching, pitching, and maybe a little pitching thrown in. And today SD dealt away James Shields (to the ChiSox for three minors leaguers) just a season and 1/3 after signing him to a big-buxx, four-year + option deal. So, yeah, looks like they're open to dealing.
  9. Meanwhile, nice of Cincy to beat the Nats on back to back days. Two 0-fers for Murphy too. Hadn't had two of those in a row all season prior to this. BA plummeting towards the .370s
  10. Well that game was 3 hours and 40 minutes of ... something, I'm not quite sure what.
  11. Edgy MD wrote: Wow, I didn't think Cespedes would be unable to answer the bell for a single at-bat. De Aza was already in that batting spot from PH-ing earlier. But, yes, it appears that Cespedes is NOT available seeing as how deGrom is going to PH for Reed in the #2 spot.
  12. Plawecki owes us Schaefer for today's game!
  13. Hits? Sure, we can do that. Hits w/RiSP? Sorry, not our department.
  14. Robles, meanwhile, does the opposite: gets to 2 out and nobody on and then allow three straight runners to reach and a run ... and only a circus catch by Lagares kept him from giving up 3
  15. Marlins starter Nicolino retired just 14 of the 25 hitters he faced (9 hits, 1 walk, 1 HBP) ... and yet got out with only 2 runs against.
  16. Three singles in a row! Bases loaded no outs!! Our chances are decreasing by the minute!!!
  17. Oh no, another leadoff baserunner to start the 6th. And now a second one ... WE'RE DOOMED!! Whose turn is it to GiDP?
  18. This has to be the only team where getting the leadoff hitter on base decreases their odds of scoring. 5 innings, 5 leadoff hitters reached, one scores. In fact the only two to even reached 2nd base were the guy who later scored and the one who got picked off from there on the subsequent pitch. And this doesn't even speak to all those leadoff guys they wasted in the 13-walk/1 run disaster game.
  19. Conforto's last 30 trips to the plate: 13 K, 6 GO including 2 GiDP, 7 Fly Out, 2 BB, 1 Line out ... and an infield single
  20. Heard the names Jed Lowrie and Eduardo Nunez floated. Lowrie - 32, S/R; singed thru 2017. Was mostly a SS but has also played 2B, and now is manning 3B in Oakland. .260/.329/.407 lifetime though .311/.350/.358 this season Nunez - 29 next week. SS, 3B, 2B and OF. Currently Twins but also has yanqui stink on him (2010-13). One year deal, Arb next season, FA after that. .275/.313/.403 career but also hitting over his head this year at .328/.353/.500
  21. And with all games ending within a two minute span of each other: Mets 6 - Marlins 2 Reds 7 - Nationals 2 Orioles 6 - Yanquis 5 TH on June 3rd (another sleepy, dusty Delta day) 2016
  22. Nice night so far for the new corner boys (in the batters box makin' all that noise)
  23. 21 (outs) or over. Just what we need from the starters.
  24. Conforto now doesn't even need to make contact to have DPs result.
  25. Marlins pitching coach Juan Nieves out to try and calm down Tom Kohler. You know nothing Juan Nieves!!
