  1. This Michael Martinez guy (coming up) played briefly for the Phils a couple years ago (2011-12) but I barely remember him. He's the last guy on Francona's bench and he's a career .197 hitter (534 ABs). He's their Eric Campbell you might say.
  2. Man there's a lot of Cubs fans there tonight.
  3. Looks like Carl Edwards to try and close it out. I guess he's not racing on the NASCAR circuit this week. 5. Forest nymph would rather watch trashy reality television than get laid.
  6. You can question Maddon's pitcher use, but every move he's made off the bench has worked out tonight: Ross, Almora, Montero
  7. Doesn't look too bad At least the game isn't being played in Toledo.
  8. OH MAN!!!!!! I did not need this.
  9. Y'know what I just realized ... I forgot to get my free taco today!!!
  10. And now the season is giving us bonus baseball.

Whatsisname Gonzalez. 21-hopper past the intangible glove of Derek Jeter. Actually it was a floater over his head barely reaching the OF grass as Torre had the infield drawn in rather than at DP-depth (a sore point among certain MFY fans).

So when you get to some 'Terry makes us scratch our heads' play in 2017, remember that it's not like those would go away if someone else was managing instead.

  14. Maddon LOVES squeeze bunts, and I've seen him bunt in A LOT of 2-strike situations (and it's not like I sit around all day watching Cubs games) But, man, I would have swung away there.
  15. I can't imagine what could possibly be wrong with that slide or what exactly the umps were reviewing.

  19. So here's my question about Ross: if he's so important to Lester's success that they pull the superior hitting Contreras in Game 7 of the WS to placate Lester coming out of the pen, doesn't that suggest a significant drop-off for Lester next season? ... not to mention the four seasons they're on the hook for after that.

He won a ring with the Sox three years ago. This was brought up a week or two ago. He just seems to be extraordinarily popular with both his teammates and the Chicago fans despite being in that town for just the last two of his 15 ML seasons. He's 'Grandpa Rossy' to his young teammates.

  22. Plus, as that great American philosopher George Carlin once said, "Isn't Jumbo Shrimp an oxymoron?
  23. Zvon wrote: And the Baez barehand-was that West?- the ump was right there and it was so clear that he never had a handle. Not West but John Hirschbeck in what will be the final game of his career.
  24. Chad Ochoseis wrote: Kluber hasn't looked sharp all game, even when he's gotten outs. When you figure it's the second start in a row on short rest and the third time in barely a week that Cubs hitters are seeing the same pitcher, that there's at least some fall-off shouldn't be too surprising. I'm amazed that Terry F. hasn't gotten someone (Shaw? Salazar? ) up in the pen yet. Maddon so far seems like he's willing to be quicker with the hook than Francona.
  25. Rajai Davis, you got to throw a guy out from that distance. Some less than stellar defense all around so far tonight.
