  1. =Methead post_id=17766 time=1565057978 user_id=61] pete's gonna smoke one too, guys
  2. He's not Reyes and he's not Mookie ... but it's great to watch Rosario run.
  3. Gary mentioned that Curtis Granderson is 4th in HRs for NY Mets this decade, trailing Wright, Conforto, and the leader Duda. So even though he's moved on to other teams, Curtis still follows Lucas Duda
  4. And his arm is starting to talk more as this game goes on. Shaky early on, kind of dominant since.
  5. One of the factors is that the Mets to date have played 48 home games (28-20) against 63 on the road (27-36)* That leaves (doing the higher math) nearly a two-to-one ratio of 33 home games remaining vs just 18 away. Those road games are divided into three separate six-game trips: ATL & KC (Aug 13-18); PHI & WAS (Aug 30 - SEP 4); COL & CIN (Sep 16-22) * no wonder Amed Rosario leads all of MLB in road hits
  6. They just lost Howie Kendrick to the IL and were already down a Ryan Zimmerman, so the move make sense from their POV
  7. Lefty Specialist wrote: McNeil leading off and Rosario batting second. It'll be interesting to see how that plays out. So far, not bad.
  8. Isn't this Marlin pitcher one of the guys on that TV show with like 19 kids? I wonder how many tickets he had to buy for this debut game?
  9. Only two swing-and-misses (I think) for JdG so far thru two innings, and he was lucky to get thru the 2nd w/o further damage. The Marlins seem to do this sort of thing to him.
  10. So David Price remembered that he's David Price and that he was pitching in the Bronx tonight. iow: Seven ER allowed and he still couldn't get out of the 3rd inning 7-0 Yanx, top 4 Sox currently on pace to win just 84 games, 24 fewer than their 108-win regular season team of a year ago.
  11. So even with the pen much better since the ASB, there's still this from the pair who were tabbed prior to the season to be the main two guys: Diaz + Familia 2018: 145-1/3 IP -- 8 combined HRs allowed Diaz & Familia 2019*: 78-2/3 IP -- 16 combined HRs allowed So that's exactly double the number of HRs as compared to last season despite totaling just a shade more than half the innings pitched. aka: the (not so) dynamic duo are serving up taters at a rate nearly 4x their previous norm. That would be great if you're running a McDonalds franchise but not so much if you're a pitcher. Even in the midst of the 'Year of the HR' that's a stunning total. The only saving grace is that, lately anyway, they've been given big enough leads to where the long balls they have allowed haven't meant a flip of the game. But we can't count on that to continue. * includes Fammy's tater and IP from today
  12. Let's assume here that the Braves are out of reach, but then also that the two seemingly weaker teams slightly ahead of us (SFG & ARZ) will fall behind and stay there. Using those conditions as givens, that means they'd realistically have to catch and pass four (or more) from the group of Phils (3.0 GB as of tonight), Nats (3.0), Brewers (2.0), Cubs (5.0), and Cards (3.5) It won't be easy - especially when the schedule stops providing us with cupcakes - but it certainly looks a bit more plausible than it did about a week and a half ago. Bottom line: they're going to have to beat some tough teams head-to-head ... and of course that's the way things are supposed to be.
  13. =bmfc1 post_id=17535 time=1564918625 user_id=73] Has a team ever been combined no-hit twice in a season? The Seattle Mariners have, including last night against Houston.
  14. Yeff McNeil yacks a ball out of the park against Yefry Ramirez.
  15. =bmfc1 post_id=17562 time=1564942677 user_id=73]37 pitches for Noah in only 2 innings. We might have some Hart in the 6th or 7th.
  16. =Gwreck post_id=17561 time=1564941538 user_id=56] Davis needs a nickname.
  17. Cano comes up lame in the midst of a 9-for-15 stretch. Such is life.
  18. I see Mickey is going for defense in Stroman's first start ... and JD Davis as well.
  19. 6.1 IP for Vargas in his Philly debut: 2 ER on 5 hits, 5 Ks, 1 BB Phils just took the lead but JV gets a ND no matter how this one winds up.
  20. Pirates have nine hits in this game. Five of them in a six batter span in the 4th (plus a walk thrown in) and now in the 7th they have three in a row.
  21. =HahnSolo post_id=17425 time=1564792179 user_id=63] Freaking outs on basepaths and freaking Matz
  22. On July 27th at CitiField: Matz: 9 IP; 5 Hits (three 1B, two 2B); 0 BB / 7 K Williams: 7 IP; 3 Runs (2 ER) on just 3 Hits but 2 were HRs (Conforto & Davis); 2 BB / 7 K
  23. Lefty Specialist wrote: Noah they have to extend. Nah, he's already tall enough.
  24. =kcmets post_id=17388 time=1564757950 user_id=53]... and even one guy (I think Dog on his High Heat opening rant) that everyone to a man was glad to see him go. *paraphrasing
