  1. Not funny Weaver. Nice catch Alvarez. So the Twins first reliever tonight, Kendry Rojas, allowed 2 hits and 3 walks in two innings but no runs. How? Well, for starters, he faced 8 batters but only had to retire 3 of them to pull it off. The other three outs came on two GiDPs and Vientos being thrown out at the plate.
  2. If you have Austin Martin on your squad, don't you have to scour the waiver wire for a player named James Bond?
  3. I lied, I just thought of a comment. The only way Vientos is safe there is if Robert was throwing the ball.
  4. The Mets (it may not surprise you to learn) are DFL among all 30 teams in OBA, and yet they're in the upper half in GiDPs and maybe upper quarter pending the outcomes of tonight's action elsewhere. They're currently up to 18 with the second one tonight.
  5. So it's the 24th game of the season and we've had Lindor and Soto in the lineup together for 8-1/2 of them. On the plus side, Soto looked good getting down to 1st on a passed ball even though there was little chance of him getting to 2nd.
  6. Is it me or was Lindor not really busting it from 2nd to 3rd? I mean, yeah, he scored anyway, but by a hair. On replay: he wasn't busting it 3rd to home either. And now G & R notice it too.
  7. Another throw by Louie Bobby that was neither hard nor accurate.
  8. No, but I am all set for a Mets game!!
  9. It's how the fuck on Earth is this team so bad Day!! And the Mets need to recycle their bats or something cuz nuthin' else is working. Clay Homes opposes TBD, a hurler who has held the Mets to a .126 BA over the last 143 times they've faced 'him'. 7:10 EDT is the starting time as the Mets try to keep their even dozen losses from becoming a baker's dozen. Juan Soto will return and the Mets will 'manage' his playing time. And, as Clubber Lang said when asked for his prediction: "Pain" is in the forecast.
  10. Following the Lindor 3rd inning HR, the Mets had one hit (a single), two walks, and the last 14 batters went down in order with nothing even containing the faint whiff of a hit..
  11. Over the last 107 innings the Mets have blanked in 91 of them, scoring 22 runs combined in the other 16 frames. So you're saying there's a chance?
  12. The margin of the loss tonight might not even be close. Possibly double digits.
  13. Aside from the 3R HR, there's been nothing even resembling a threat of adding some rack-on runs.
  14. Also Peterson, I just recently realized, is both the longest tenured Met AND is a FA at the end of the season. So the phrase 'make or break season' gets thrown around too much, particularly with young players, but for Peterson it really is. For him it's maybe the difference between a FA contract vs hoping for a ST invite.
  15. So that Braz can get out of the inning on one pitch and Weaver doesn't have to contend with an extra Up-Down! Duh!!
  16. And more ammo gets added to the 'No third time thru the lineup' side of the argument.
  17. Step one: Challenge a pitch so as to turn a 1-2 count into 2-1 in your favoe Step two: Stand there with the bat on your shoulder while the net two pitches go past you for a backwards K
  18. Not with a Twins logo, but I was biking with a guy a couple years back who had an outfit very much along those lines. Essentially a lycra version of the above.
  19. Twins net two runs from two (now three) baserunners. The Mets weren't quite so efficient while facing the Cubs: Game 1: Four runs via 16 on base Game 2: Two runs / 11 on base Game 3: One run / 6 on base Total: Seven runs / 33 baserunners
  20. Gary to get angry mail for 'causing' the end of the perfecto by mentioning it on several occasions.
  21. Quick, call time out and stall!!
  22. Important spots? Pham has 8 ABs and it took three injured OFs (Soto, Young, Tauchman) and a 1B/DH just to get him that many. Taylor played a significant semi-full-time role when the team was good in 2024 and 1st half of 2025 (approx 2.5 ABs/GP) but less so so far this season (30 PA in 22 G). And Kimbrell has thrown 3.2 innings. iow, there are so many problems with what should be the Real meat of the roster, it seems beyond silly to cite the low-hanging fruit at the back of the bench as proof of poor roster construction.
