  1. Conforto just being a good bowling partner by picking up Neris's split.
  2. Could be a Yuge call in a tight game, every bit as Yuge as it was bad. Still not as bad as the one earlier in the week between MIL & StL (the one Gary is mentioning right now) but Purdy darn bad. And by the time McCutcheon slightly touched the grass he was already past Lindor who had given up trying to pursue him. Not a good decision by Lindor btw
  3. We may already have our NYM quote of the year: Dom: "I'm a grown-ass man"
  4. We haven't been doing well in recent games when the pitching match-ups have been in our favor. We won't even have that in this one.
  5. This had better be the low point because it's tough to imagine lower.
  6. If we do get this to extras we'll be at a disadvantage because, y'know, the leadoff runner on 2nd thing.
  7. And we're already over three hours in the 8th inning of a 2-1 game.
  8. Y'all realize, right, that the Phils are winning this game with three hits, all singles, two of which didn't leave the infield. We have six, half of which are doubles.
  9. The other thing about open web gloves in the infield is that you can get your finger(s) hooked in the webbing when trying to pick out the ball. OFs tend to use them because you can block the sun but still peek through the gaps.
  10. If Conforto had swung 3-0 there i was calling Luca Brasi And now the dreaded RiSP ABs
  11. The Hot Corner wrote: I shelled out for MLB.TV this year in anticipation of this team being fun to watch. So far I was wrong. Ya puts down your money, ya takes your chances.
  12. This might be the first team in history where hitting doubles decreases their odds of scoring.
  13. Oh good, I was starting to think I'd never see another NYM pop-up w/RiSP!!
  14. Just to put this in perspective, the Phils just scored more runs on a strike out than the Mets have scored since Sunday.
  15. I see you've got RiSP sir, so I've brought the infield pop-ups you ordered.
  16. =MFS62 post_id=62549 time=1619806103 user_id=60] =whippoorwill post_id=62543 time=1619803200 user_id=79] wouldn't you guys just crap if he signed with a New York NFL team?
  17. The Wilpons -- Fred, Jeff, Saul, team accounts, personal accounts, etc -- lost a LOT of money via Madoff. Madoff was taking people's money and giving them entirely fictional statements detailing that he was investing it in various blue-chip companies when in fact he didn't invest a dime of it, he was using it all to finance his own personal lifestyle. What would be the point in the 'Pons, or anyone else for that matter, continually giving him more if they knew that this was the case? And the money they did withdraw at various times from their "accounts" based on those fictional gains is what the court-appointed arbiter was later sent to claw back meaning that they had to pay back part of what they gained years earlier on top of their money which simply disappeared. The combination of the two is what put them in a hole which caused the slicing of payroll nearly in half and from which they could never recover without selling the team, something they swore they had no intention of doing until then. Were they naive? Sure. Wroing to put all the eggs in one basket? In hindsight, yeah. Were there signs that they should have known better? I'll buy that. But I can't fathom this idea that they knew he was a phony and just kept forking over money to him anyway on the off chance that he'd get away with it forever. That doesn't make a lick of sense.
  18. You anarchists keep putting these updates in last week's threads. It's stuff like this that caused the fall of the Roman Empire, y'know!! btw, the Phillies ended their half of the top-10th by running into a Fly-Out to CF - tag up from 2nd DP ... then allowed the walk-off run on a WP Yanx also lose to the O's in the funny-inning rules.
  19. There actually is a brand new book out on Madoff -- MADOFF TALKS by Jim Campbell -- but I don't think it's going to have much NYM-specific content in it. After Madoff went away he began a correspondence with Campbell, a journalist he never met, and wrote often and lengthy letters and emails even as he was barely, or not at all, in contact with his own family. He apparently doesn't deny anything but spends a lot of time egotistically rationalizing what he did as if to show how none of it were his fault - sounding somewhat like a cross between the worst characteristics of Nixon and Trump. Campbell also talked extensively with Ruth Madoff and at least one of the sons before he died. Not sure it's one that I'm going to get around to.
  20. Pretty nice specialist's career: 13 seasons, 609 appearances (1 start for NYM in 2018), 495.1 IP, 2,098 batters faced 3.54 ERA, 114 ERA+, 1.236 WHIP, 7.6 H/9, 9.2 K, 3.5 BB, 0.9 HR, 30 W - 13 L 7 Post-Season innings pitched (OAK + WAS) 0 Runs / 1 Hit 219 of those games and 139 of those innings came w/the Mets and his NYM numbers were right in line with his career stats.
  21. =kcmets post_id=62472 time=1619696714 user_id=53] Anderson 0-3 6.48
  22. =Fman99 post_id=62179 time=1619530721 user_id=86] I do worry that the CPF will be potentially harder for new potential members to find now that our domain does not include any mention of the Crane within the URL itself. But that's a small detail.
