  1. So Aroldis Chapman had himself a rough night in Minneapolis last night. Brought in protect a two run lead, he proceeded to go: Single - Homer (game tied) - Single - Homer (thanks for coming and do arrive home safely) Nine pitches in total, no outs recorded, with those last two hits both coming on first pitches.
  2. This will be the MLBN 'Showcase Game' tonight, meaning (mostly) nationwide coverage for those who may not have regular access to NYM broadcasts.
  3. Phils walk-off the Braves again. Atlanta scored twice via the L.L. rules in the 10th and the Phils answered with three before the Braves could even record an out. Braves keep stumbling every time they get close to .500
  4. =Centerfield post_id=67490 time=1623352128 user_id=65] I'm having trouble figuring out if Billy is: 1. Jordany Valdespin. Good for a few days. 2. Mike Jacobs. Good for a few weeks. 3. Timo Perez. Good for one year. 4. Benny Agbayani. Good for a year or two. 5. Melvin Mora. Actually good.
  5. Wheeler & Ian Anderson with dueling four- hit shutouts into the 8th. Braves go to their pen (A. J. Minter) in bottom 8 and Zach is PH'd for so they'll have a reliever for the 9th.
  6. And it's not like Almora was hitting.
  7. Gerritt Cole having a good night tonight, theoretically w/o sticky stuff, vs Minnesota [2 ER, 5 hits, thru 6]
  8. Phils walk-off the Braves with a 2R HR with one out in bottom 9th by rookie Luke Williams (2nd ML game) 2-1 Phightens
  9. 15 runs, 22 hits, 2:43 Braves/Phillies, starting at the same time, are in the bottom of the 9th despite just a 1-0 score (Braves lead).
  10. 7 complete innings in right about 2 hours. A High scoring/hitting game [9 runs, 16 hits combined] doesn't have to equate to a long game.
  11. I used to get teased with that song back on the grade school playground. That and WEDDING BELL BLUES
  12. Edgy MD wrote: I'm watching on the radio. Did Alonso running open up a spot for the hit? On the contrary, it almost brought the SS right into McCann's up-the-middle liner. And now we're back to our 'illars leading the way.
  13. I guess Pete wasn't being held on there (although the pitch earlier Ronnie said the O's were holding him) but that's a questionable move to send him either way.
  14. I went to High School with a Stevie Wilkerson ... but this Oriole is probably not the same guy. The one I knew was a basketball player, and he was black, and he'd be in his early 60s, and, if his HS antics were any kind of omen, likely in prison.
  15. Harvey is a great catch away from seeing warmup action behind him in the O's pen.
  16. So not only did TWO different hitters -- one in ML, one in AA -- miss bases on HRs yesterday, but both who did were 2nd generation players. Pittsburgh's Ke'Bryan Hayes (son of former ML 3b-man Charlie) missed 1st as he was checking if his drive to the RF corner made it over the 21 ft 'Clemente Wall' And the minor league offender was SS prospect Bobby Witt Jr. Now I know your daddies didn't teach to play like that. This was the first missed base on a HR trot in MLB since 1983
  17. That was the best non-answer to a baseball cheating question since Jason Giambi ... now which team did he play for when he was similarly stumped?

  19. This is turning into one of those games that I rationalize by saying, that if you're going to not hit, and are going to not pitch, and are going to not field ... you might as well not do them all at the same time.
  20. Khris Davis, who hit 48 HRs as recently as 2018, was released by the Rangers.

  22. Edgy MD wrote: HEY! NEW YORK CITY IS DOING RANKED-CHOICE PRIMARY VOTING THIS YEAR! If you live in Astoria, vote for Evie Hantzopoulos for City Council District 22. Her husband is a loyal Mets fan. A Greek in Astoria? You don't say!
  23. Shirley the Atlanta organist plays the PINK PANTHER theme when Trey Mancini comes to bat.
  24. Orioles: Six players with 2 hits in the 5th Mets: 2 hits Total in the 5th
  25. Orioles: Six players with 2 hits each by the 5th inning Mets: 2 hits Total in the 5th
