1. =ashie62 post_id=78483 time=1632443176 user_id=90] Can Transmonk pitch?
2. NOT Jonathan Winters ... although I bet this is what you were thinking about
3. White Owl cigars (they sponsored Yanqui games for a time) used the 'We're Gonna Get You' slogan. Perhaps not an appropriate slogan for a health- compromising and addictive product but, hey, it was the sixties. Breakfast cereals back then would boast about how much sugar they added. Don't specifically remember Jonathan Winters but it's possible.

Sure, but to be fair, I've gotten that idea for at least 25 years. Well he always was a bit hard to comprehend because a) he's a moron, and he usually had a monster wad of chaw in his mouth (at least the part that wasn't constantly falling out). Now is a bit different and his mouth appeared to be empty during the interviews. This time he sounded either drunk, punch-drunk, or quite possibly both.
5. Not in the doc obviously, but Carter always denied a) that Keith was dictating pitches to him or to anyone using the "No way I'm making the last fucking out" comment. Both may be accurate, but both also speak to Carter projecting/protecting his image so maybe not. No catcher is going to want to agree/admit that someone else on the field not only knew better than him as far as pitch selection goes but also that he would passively cede that kind of authority onto his turf? No doubt that Keith said something along those lines but each party probably remembers the specific wording and direction plus the degree of suggestion/demand from their own perspective. The second comment, at least the specific phrasing of it, goes against Gary's squeaky clean image giving him incentive to clean it up a bit. On the other hand, this was the guy who, when Mookie took a ball to the face in ST, reacted with, 'Oh gosh darn it Mook'
6. Brewers, btw, likely to be a bit ornery after losing four straight to StL

9. Hell, we've brought the BoSox, Cards, Phils, Giants, and Dodgers (but not the Yanx) closer to securing spots recently. It was only a matter of time until we'd get around to officially putting one over the top.
10. Even if there were definitive proof showing Villar to be safe, if I'm the ump crew back in Chelsea I'm rejecting any challenge just on general principles.

12. Geeeeez, I saw Schwarber was off the base in real time! He didn't bail quite as badly as Gary Sanchez did a few weeks back, but still ...
13. Man, the Cardinals are up 6-Zip on the Brewers while trying for their 11th straight win and 3rd straight over Milwaukee (they play again Thursday afternoon). It's going to be TLTL to make a difference in the NLC race (Brews +9.-1/2) but the Redbirds are locking up the 2nd WC with this run and looking more like a formidable opponent vs the eventual runner-up among SFG/LAD
14. So in this game, the offense (from one side anyway) and the high number of pitches thrown have an obvious impact on the pace of the game. But, still, the opening three innings took 90 minutes, a pace for a 4-1/2 hour game. And again, when 3:00 - 3:15 is your baseline for an average game, it doesn't take much to push things up towards four hours
15. And the insurmountable deficit had been reached.
16. Also good to know that we got to face Schwarber on two different teams and the same with Scherzer
17. Gary is claiming that hanging Ks started at Shea -- presumably for Gooden -- but I remember them being done for Nolan Ryan in his Anaheim days and was dubious about NYM fans copying the act.
18. So we play the Sawx four times and face Sale while the Yanx get them 19 times and don't see him at all.
19. What if one or more of his testicles fell out?
20. Usually it's the mound conferences, pitching changes, and replay reviews which bring the games Up to three hours, but these recent games are usually past the one hour mark before they even hit the end of the 3rd. When that happens, 3:15 or longer becomes the base line with late game machinations just tacking onto things from there.
21. the Mets have played nine straight regular season games that have lasted at least 3:30 And the sad part is, there's been nothing unusual about this set of games. As a whole they haven't been high-scoring or particularly "strategic" to where a game is sailing along until the brakes get slammed on in the 7th inning. And it's not one of those Septembers of yore with 38 guys on each bench. These games have started slowly, muddled through the middle, and then crept to an eventual conclusion, several of them with me no longer in attendance by that point.
22. Not yet six full innings and yet headed for the three hour mark.
23. Hey, why not?!?
