  3. This Helsey guy had WHIPs over the past two seasons of 1.41 and 1.33 So far this season it's 0.17 ... and dropping
  4. Nearly 60 pitches by Walker just in the last two innings. I think he's likely done for the day.
  5. Nimmo holding a runner ... don't see that too often.
  6. Nimmo learning to go the other way [aka: develop the seemingly extinct "two strike swing"] is the best development of the season.
  7. No, but Marte's out and his absence was temporarily replaced with a pitcher so this now puts the universe back in balance.
  8. Scoring in the 1st inning, it's what we do.

  11. Putting the tying runs on wasn't part of the plan here.
  12. =Gwreck post_id=92565 time=1652824315 user_id=56] Yabbut, aren't Lugo, Smith, and Diaz the frontline guys?
  13. Hey, I agreed with both your assessments. I suspect Buck's line of thinking is to try to get extra innings out of the back of the pen while keeping the frontline guys fresher for future usage sooner ... like maybe starting about four hours from now.
  14. THAT'S the ball that leaves the park?!?
  15. =Gwreck post_id=92559 time=1652823074 user_id=56] I *would* recommend using Lugo for a second inning.
  16. =Gwreck post_id=92549 time=1652821279 user_id=56] I don't recommend using Reed for a second inning.
  17. Reed gets out of the inning via the first guy to actually make contact with one of his pitches.
  18. No walks for Williams, four hits and two of those were cheesy.
  19. Yeah, although I thought he got the Jankowski bunt attempt call correct. .
  20. Pitches thru 3 innings: Miklos = 65, Williams = 41
  21. Unrealistic looking rabbits make ice cream in an office building with low ceilings.
  22. I know we we won't be seeing Wainwright, he went Sunday night v the Giants. I was hoping SF could really rake around the StL bully in that final game but it was the Cards who hung a 15-spot on the Gints. In fact the Cards, not wanting to waste an arm in mop-up duty, turned to Sir Albert of Pujols to pitch the 9th in a 15-2 game. He gave up 4 runs on 2 HRs, but got through the inning and was able to tack P onto his resume leaving C & CF as the only positions he never played (he's like the anti-Craig Biggio/Dale Murphy)
  23. -- One day after getting no-hit for 8 innings (but winning), the Pirates extended that streak to 12 straight hitless innings before finally getting a single in the 5th then two more in the 6th at Wrigley. They never did score however as there was much less drama in this one once their staff coughed up an 8-run 1st inning en route to a 9-0/3-hit shellacking. -- Braves got 2-hit by Freddie Peralta (plus two relievers) and the Brewers, losing 1-0 on a 6th inning Wild Pitch -- Marlins trounced the Nats 8-2 -- Phils were on the left coast all week so had Monday off; will host the Padres starting Tuesday -- Yanx won again, but it was against Baltimore so that only counts for like a half-win.

He has, but I can still make arguments for the other side: Lindor = lefty hitter, faster, better career track record. And mainly that you don't need to fear Pete's power as much there since they only needed a single to win, not a GS. Looking up Diego Castillo's career numbers after the fact, he has better numbers vs RHBs as compared to LHBs but not dramatically so, and his BB rate is somewhat high but, again, nothing crazy (3.3/9) so factor that stuff in how you will.
