  1. Bottom 1st defensive review - Bad throw by SS - Weak throw by RF - Throw from RF skips by catcher - Weaker plus off-line throw from RF Other than those they were pretty tight
  2. BB-Ref lists this Philly pitcher at 6' 4" / 175 So is it a stretch to say that Falter towers?
  3. A Boy Named Seo wrote: If it isn't being used to mock a Black player, then what is it? Just what I said, that he was using it based on the prior reference specifically to tweak Anderson. Maybe he thought he was being funny, I dunno, but I'm sure there's worse shit said on the field multiple times per game. Hell, Tim Anderson once called an opposing player (oddly, a white one) "a weak-ass fucking nigga!". Is 'Jackie' worse than 'Mutha-Fucka', something that's probably dropped ten times before the singing of the anthem? I just don't think every incidence of bench jockeying towards a black player is de facto racism, even one invoking the holy name of Jackie. I don't think what Donaldson said was clever, he's an irritant and quite possibly a complete tool. I just don't think it was suspension worthy and aren't surprised that he's fighting it.
  4. To be clear, that's the game coverage on their Twitter account, not the TV or radio broadcasts.
  5. As of right now, Sunday night's game is scheduled for ESPN2 so check your DVR settings. There's an 'if necessary' hoops game (BOS/MIA) on the sked for the main channel.
  6. The Reds got down 3-0 by the top of the 2nd today vs the Cubbies ... but then put up 20 runs on 20 hits. 20 - 5 was the final in Cincinnati. Since starting a stunning 3-22, the Reds are 11-8. Now that overall pace still only puts them on a pace to win around 51 games, but when you consider they were on a pace to go 19-143, it's a significant improvement and puts them just four games out of 4th in the NLC behind those very same Cubs. Cincy prize pitching prospect Hunter Greene got the win, his 2nd, going 5 innings before being pulled during a rain delay. But all is not going smoothly yet as he was responsible for all 5 runs including 2 HRs and a 2RBI-2B. On the year (9 starts) his H/9 ratio isn't bad [43 hits in 44.1 IP] but 24 BBs and now 14 HRs have led to 29 ER allowed. Not that I'm calling for panic as the 2nd overall pick out of HS in 2017 won't turn 23 until August. But that's a lot of HRs, even if you do pitch in that ballpark. Yanx sign ex- StL Cardinal Matt Carpenter and put him directly on their ML roster. He was on a minor league deal with Texas until they released him from their AAA roster last week.
  7. So I'm beginning to think that this start may temper Szapucki's RoY chances a bit.
  8. Oh, as long as it's going to go through those densely populated regions then it'll certainly be worth dumptrucks full of cash.
  9. Are you effin' kidding me!?! Cashed it in at 8-2 and I'm not sure I could have stayed up through that game even if it were a 7:10 start. Also not sure whether to take solace in the comeback or cry over the way they lost it.
  10. Yeah, but your name's still Joc.
  11. And the Braves score twice in bottom 9 to walk it off.
  12. Hit Nimmo in the leg and he still runs to 1st
  13. Bryce Harper hits a 1-out 2R HR in the 9th off Kensley Jansen to put the Phils up 5-4 So on they play approaching the four hour mark.

  16. Braves & Phils playing the slowest 4-3 game ever. Three hours in and still in top 7. Philly starter Kyle Gibson was the main culprit: slow worker, deep counts, and about 50 attempted pickoff throws to 1st. And it looks like we'll see him Sunday night. Oh joy! Marlins got shutout by Tampa Nats getting another ass-whooping by LAD
  17. That a road taking that route would be part of the Interstate Highway system smacks of the state trying grab federal dollars for what would essentially be a local road. Once you get that far north in Maine there's about 50 people who live there.
  18. Made it thru the 8th last night. The hangover effect won't let me get that far tonight.
  19. I watched with fast forwarding the SF broadcast on MLB.TV this morning. Didn't hear any overly loud hecklers so maybe the radio uses different crowd mics. https://nypost.com/2022/05/24/giants-fans-jeff-mcneil-taunt-couldnt-have-gone-worse/https://nypost.com/2022/05/24/giants-fans-jeff-mcneil-taunt-couldnt-have-gone-worse/ “Hey McNeil, work out those legs, you've got no power, no power McNeil,” ...
  20. Well it's not that I'm lobbying for it, just throwing the idea out there given as how the Scherzer news from last week made this board light up with speculation of what kind of mound talent was potentially available. But it's also not like Luis is an everyday player; the playing time he's had over five ML seasons to date doesn't even add up to a full season of ABs yet. Now maybe at age 27 he's proving in front of our eyes that he can be one. Or maybe that BABiP will come back to earth and we'd be selling high on a guy who'll top out at being a very versatile good-glove and good-OBA/low-power LH stick off the bench. Whatever the case, depending on how desperate we are or will be for pitching, you've got to give up something to get something and, although it obviously depends on the details, I don't quite understand the concept of being against trading position players for pitching "on principle". I mean, what's the alternative? Trading pitching for pitching? (presumably future pitching for present pitching). Or more boatloads of recent high-round draft picks for pitching? I don't see how either of those choices is, by definition, superior to position players for pitching.

  23. That one was about two rows shy of being McC cove-bound.
  24. The Mets should sign some dude named Erlichman just so they could use him to follow Holderman.
  25. Not that Nimmo would ever put it this way ... but he's one hustlin' muthafucka.
