  2. The ball's on our racket and we've got the middle of the order due up. No excuses.

  4. Nick Plummer: Greatest call-up ever. Discuss.
  5. Good thing for Plummer that he opted to catch that one.
  6. Both protagonists from last week, Anderson & Donaldson, are now on the DL.

ESPN carries the HR Derby so, to them, it's the most important (maybe the Only important) day of the whole season. I'll be honest here. It seemed to me as though the entire Mets organization was never more focused these past few years than the way they were focused on the stupid home run derby. I feel so good that it would appear to be a small priority this year, based on the attention they are finally paying to the regular season No doubt that NYM mgmt often used those pr-type wins to paper over the dearth of on-field wins. But that's sort of a separate point. Mine us that ESPN doesn't like baseball and so thinks that the HR Derby is the season highlight. Why would anyone want to watch a fucking game of baseball. their reasoning goes, when you can watch some manufactured pseudo-drama.
  8. 16 of 18 Philly outs tonight are either GO or K Last out out of the infield was the 2nd out of the 2nd
  9. If the Phils want to keep pounding grounders at our infielders, I'm not gonna stop 'em.
  10. =Fman99 post_id=93948 time=1653872264 user_id=86] What happened to Jankow?
  11. Each pitcher has bounced back from his troublesome/million-pitch inning.

  14. Y'know I got a big screen TV so I could see the game shrunk down to the 13-inch screen I owned several decades ago.
  15. So I guess the combo of basketball and baseball gives A-Rod & Kay the night off.
  16. Didn't hit Wheels particularly hard, but .. * Three to Zip * Not a single swing and miss until the final pitch of the inning * 32 bullets spent, aka: that much closer to getting into their pen
  17. The mound visit limit is also essentially a non-existent limit. Five visits (used to be six) per team per game (who knows about extra innings?). Except that visits for a pitching change don't count toward the total, nor do injury visits nor those following supposed cross-ups. And neither do the ones where the other team puts up a pinch-hitter (How were we supposed to know they were going to use Him!). So the count would probably have to approach a combined 15 to 20 before the umps could chain the respective P.C.'s to the bench.
  18. Not quoting anyone one person specifically, but some form of that quote has been used as an all-purpose rationale in favor of replay reviews for decades now. My point being that judging the justification for the rule on that standard alone is wildly misleading as it ignores so many downsides.

On further review, the guys in Chelsea have gotten drunk tonight. Saturday night in a fashionable nightlife neighborhood with the best galleries. Breezy late-spring evening. Looking across the river at Hoboken from the Skyline? Checking out the Basquiat pieces at The Starrett-Lehigh Building. Let's not judge here. What it does is provides more evidence that the claim of, 'if replay corrects even one bad call then it's worth it', is a total lie.
