  1. So on that runner hit by the batted ball play, does the rule say, as Gary stated, that it's Not an out if the ball goes past an infielder or is it only if a ball.passes an infielder who has a chance to make a play on it? It clearly went past Pete before striking Franco but he just as clearly could not have fielded it.
  2. Put out for Alonso on the plunked runner. Best fielding play he's made all night.
  3. Gary fell into what is perhaps the most over-used phrase in baseball over the last (10?) years: "I can't believe this replay review is taking this long" Really? I can.
  4. Really Noah, you gotta pick Today to suck! Syndergaard has given up 5 runs on six hits (incl. a HR and 3 2Bs) over the first two innings in da Bronx. Also, Judge stole a HR from Ohtani.
  5. Guillorme came in as if it was going to be a rundown but Pete's delayed throw screwed that up.
  6. I was, of course, kidding. I have no idea who the last stragglers even were over there or if they'd be ones to even know/remember about the very existence/history of this place. But if they were, they'd be about as likely to accept an invite as we would be to extend one.
  7. It's the right move at the right time. I don't think he's toast but he needs to play more than he needs a half dozen ABs/week up here.
  8. Wait ... we're backwards here? Why wasn't I informed of this?
  9. ^ The man working in the sewers wants you to cast votes ^ for Plummer from Flushing. ^
  10. =stevejrogers post_id=94156 time=1654008154 user_id=57] ... I guess the lack of traffic and same 4-5 users posting didn't make much sense to upgrade the software.

  12. And still over 3 minutes left in the hockey game [5 - 2 Rangers]
  13. WAY too early!
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Let's try to get five or six innings out of Peterson. Seriously? 59 pitches thru 4, so about 10/per after that long 1st That's quite a respectable level.

  16. 100 pitches even thrown by Washington through 2-2/3 Under normal circumstances you'd like to see that number around 40
  17. btw, this game is on MLBN, at least in some markets, for those without other access.
  18. [CROSSOUT]43[/CROSSOUT] 52 pitches from Fedde just to get four outs ... and two of those outs came on one pitch (the McNeal GIDP) and one on a great catch by Robles.
  19. Damn! The replay review overturned what would have been the GiDP of the year.
  20. Giants at Phils. SFG goes up 3-2 on a 2-out 9th inning solo HR from Longoria off Knebel. (Phils had led 2-0 until a 7th inning 2R HR by Wilmer tied it) Next batter Luis Gonzalez (no, not that one) singles on a 2-1 pitch. Knebel immediately tries to pick him off; he's safe but Philly challenges. They lose ... as they should have. Two pitches later, (plus several more pickoff attempts) Gonzalez tries to steal. He's called out so now it's SF's turn to challenge. Also denied (as it should be) Top-9 now over. So the second pitch of Bottom 9 is hit for a game tying HR from Schwarber and it's tied up again. And now Kapler is out to make a pitching change. My point in all this (aside from humiliating the Phils for being one strike shy of a victory)? That even though neither replay lasted very long (by replay standards), the gap between Longoria crossing the plate and the first pitch of bottom 9 was a bit over 10 minutes during which time four pitches were thrown!! Throw in the two pitches to Schwarber which in turn led to the pitching change and now you're up to more than 13 minutes to see six pitches thrown. What should be the most exciting part of the game instead had a ridiculous non-action to action ratio. They're into the 10th now.

Today's game is the problem. Saturday night with post-game Fireworks on a holiday weekend is a great game; no issues there at all. And ESPN national TV games can't be a surprise anymore (it wasn't as if other teams were playing night games). But on the holiday itself? The Mets are on a homestand and Washington played yesterday afternoon, traveling all the way from…DC. I suppose it could be worse, the Yanx (and several other teams) aren't scheduled at all today (as we haven't been on multiple holidays over the past few years). And the Saturday/Fireworks deal is fine except that we all know that Saturday night games are now the norm, including in the northeast in April.
