With the debut of the 20 y/o Eury Perez [born in 2003] for the Marlins that Gary was just talking about, there are now active major leaguers who are younger than the CPF
Lindor isn't hitting nearly as well as 2022 Neither is Marte, Cahna, Escobar, or anyone who wears a catcher's mask. On the mound side of things, Scherzer isn't pitching as well or as often, ditto Carrasco. No Bassitt, no Diaz. And two of the three mound additions have pitched very briefly so far or not at all. Those are the bigger problems rather than who might have been left on the cutting room floor. Trying to remake a team on the fly via older, big ticket acquisitions, as Unca Steve is doing so far, is a risky route to take and it worked a whole lot better last year than it is so far on this one.
Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Rays go straight into a Mets series A hairy one for the Mets Facing the JV squad from the High School for the Performing Arts might be a hairy series for the Mets the way they're currently going. Yanx got pummeled 8-2 last night btw. Rays just kept getting big two-out RBI hits.
The Yanx, in AL East last place despite a 21-17 record and coming off a three game drubbing of pitiful Oakland (combined score of 28-10) are hosting the 1st place Rays for a four game set starting tonight in da Bronx. Rays just lost 2 of 3 to much improved Baltimore. Prior to that was a series in TB where the Rays took 2 of 3 from the Bombers in three one run games (the decisive finale in Xtras) MLBN tonight as well as the usual local channels.
Be nice to some RS that I need two hands to tally and not have most of them coming via solo HRs, but I'll take it especially since we saw better ABs tonight (against better pitching too) and could have scored more with just a little bit of better luck.

The Reds lose their challenge and so [crossout]the call at first will not be reviewed[/crossout] they lose tomorrow's challenge too"
Not quite sure how a smart organization like StL couldn't have known about Contreras's defensive deficiencies while playing against him 19 times a years for the last half dozen or more seasons.
If they overturn this call on the slide and hand raise by Luis after the non-call last night I think Buck may spontaneously combust. And, btw, why is this one reviewable while last night's wasn't????
After their promising start, the Pirates have now lost 9 of their last 10 [WAS, TBRx3, TORx3, COL 2 of 3] and for the most part the games haven't been close [2-7, 1-4, 1-8, 2-3, 0-4, 2,8, 1-10, 2-0, 1-10, 3-4]
What's that called again when we have more runs than the other team at some point during the game? A bead? A deed? Some mead? I forget, it's been a while.
Much better 2nd & 3rd innings offensively, maybe our best in a while, even with just the one run scored. Just a shame that two hot liners w/runners on hit leather and were turned into three outs.
IIRC there was a news story concerning the discovery of, or maybe just speculation about the existence of, a giant squid-like creature living in the ocean deep somewhere. Something about it must have amused us in some way because it led to a thread about inviting the GSLC to swim in the 'pool, about 'inking' him to a contract, and other such silliness. That soon led to a GSLC identity being created (Willets, I believe, was the power behind that throne) and the large mollusk was made administrator over something or other. Like other past members, the GSLC hasn't been seen in some time.
