1. Lots o' empty seats! Where are the self-proclaimed BFiB?!? It's, what, their 2nd or 3rd losing season of this century and they all suddenly pack up shop?
2. Def rooting for the Os to win the East. Would also like to see either TEX or SEA win the West over HOU
3. Braves just finished the sweep by shutting the Yanx out for the second straight night and winning by a cumulative 18-3 score for the series [11-3, 5-0, 2-0] This officially drops the Yanx into a sub-.500 record [60-61] this late in the season for the first time since they were, well, also 60-61 after 121 games in 1995 under some manager named Showalter. The kicker about that season is that they then finished out the year by going 19-4 (strike shortened season) and making the playoff as the WC team before losing that epic playoff series to the Mariners -- Griffey scores from 1st on Edgar Martinez's double down the LF line off Jack McDowell (normally a starter, 'Black Jack' had relieved some rookie named Rivera) -- which is largely credited with saving baseball in Seattle. That game wound up being Showalter's last game managing the Yanx. The last time they finished a season under .500 was 1992 [76-85] which was the last of four consecutive sub-.500 teams.
4. Nice to have a game where we're on the good side of the unofficial 'Plays Not Made' stat.
5. I think if you rammed DJ Stewart with your car you'd wind up with a hefty repair bill while he sits out maybe two games with 'general soreness'.
6. =Centerfield post_id=135120 time=1692211022 user_id=65] I wish I was named Ke'Bryan.
7. You can't stop DJ Stewart you can only hope to contain him.
8. Edgy MD wrote: I have a strange yen to get a look at Vogelbach in the three-hole. Does that mean you're going to bet some counterfeit Japanese money on it?
9. THIS A MATINEE EVENT STARTING AT 1:10 PM ET Or, you can catch the pre-game show starting at
10. Had someone kept that top 7th down to merely a partial disaster then they could have made a game of it.
11. If it hadn't been for Conor Joe, Mets'd be leading a long time ago. Where did he come from, where does he go? Where did you come from Conor Joe?
12. 5 - Zip is your final in Atlanta as the Yanx get one hit to drop below. 500
13. Edgy MD wrote: Would you give Locastro the green light here? I'd like to see him steal here.
14. Three runs allowed by Hartwig on just six pitches snd the Pirates have yet to even swing a bat.
15. 5-0 Braves, still batting in the 4th. A 3R HR by Ozuna in the 1st A 2R HR by Acuna in the 4th
16. I started to do this one on my lunch break but something came up and I never got back to it. As usual I had all the record ones filled in and none of the team matches. I should have known Palmiero (but he didn't come to mind at the time) but you could give me 27 weeks to think about it and I'm not coming up with Steve Karsay, Tony Batista, or Mike Bordick.
17. It's like Peterson has become the pitching version of a Three True Outcomes guy.
18. Was kind of hoping he'd get a last hurrah. I didn't even care where. As a NYM he was fun, exciting, infuriating, and entertaining ... often simultaneously.
19. Wednesday is a day game.
20. 11-3 is your final in [CROSSOUT]Atlanta[/CROSSOUT] Cobb County, Georgia. Yanx now find themselves one game over .500 (60-59) and -7 in RS/RA differential.
21. And they manage to slide it in just under the three hour mark despite 82 combined walks and full counts from the two pitching staffs.
22. Calhoun was the guy I was thinking about. Earthquake McGoon was a L'il Abner character.
23. Frayed Knot wrote: Wasn't Sam Coonrod part of a tag team with Haystacks Calhoun? It might have been Haystacks Muldoon. I may be conflating professional wrestlers with L'il Abner characters. I was never an expert on either.
24. Wasn't Sam Coonrod part of a tag team with Haystacks Calhoun?
25. 1:12 just to get through the first three innings. What is this, 2022?!?
