And he forgot his shirt. Keith Happens
  2. Listen, Mr. DJ, keep those records playing ...
  3. That new StL 1Bman Luken Baker is from Houston rather than Luchenbach, Texas is a crying shame. And it's a double crying shame if he's not using the Waylon Jennings song as his walk-up music in any case.
  4. After the last two months or so of hoping that Batientos wouldn't fumble/bobble/kick/trip and/or bounce a throw, seeing Mendick make all the plays without drama is a nice sight.
  5. Astros losing tonight to red hot Seattle, but Jose Altuve has notched his 2,000th career hit in the process.

  7. Toronto traded for ex-StL SS Paul DeJong at the trading deadline 18 days ago. I hope the guy they traded away wasn't very valuable as today they DFA'd him. Clearly the Jays' problem was that they didn't play the Mets often enough during these past two-plus weeks.
  8. =ashie62 post_id=135425 time=1692489314 user_id=90] Where was this Mets team two months ago?
  9. Lefty Specialist wrote: Gerrit Cole 6 runs in 4 innings. Yanx looking like the wheels are falling off. That's two losses on Cole starts on a row, something they can't afford even if everything else is going right ... which it most definitely is not. 0-7 this week [MIA x 2, ATL x 3, BOS x 2] while being outscored 45 - 15 (34 - 4 over the last five)
  10. Ahhhhhh, nothing like getting home mid-afternoon and flicking on the tube to find the Sawx up 6-0 in the 6th. Last night they scored 4 in the 1st then three more in the 2nd. Today it was a 2nd inning GS that kicked things off. That Judge then HR'd while I was typing for the yanx first run and first hit of the game is but a minor annoyance.
  11. This game went from a dinky single away from tying the game to a blowout in a big hurry.
  12. 8-3 final in the Bronx. I'm determined to find something to enjoy about this season dammit.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: I thought Clapp was gonna take him down again. Which would be, I suppose, better than being taken down by the clap.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Mason Winn!! Actually, it's Masyn. And, better than that, it's Masyn Blaze Winn He is apparently no relation to former big leaguer Randy Winn, nor is Jose Fermin related to Felix.
  15. And in top 2nd with the Red Sox still batting it's now 7-0
  16. As the Yanx begin life as a sub-.500 club for the first time (this late in the season) in 28 years and they do so by hosting the BoSox. They're 3G in back of the 4th place Sawx so they'll need a sweep both to tie for 4th and to get back over .500. Aso, seeing as how they're 6.5 games behind Toronto for the final WC slot (w/SEA & BOS in between) they pretty much need at least two wins this weekend and probably a sweep on that front too. So how does the top of the 1st start? 2B, 1B, RBI-1B, 3R-HR So if YLDBs are looking for a replay of 1978's 'Boston Massacre' things are not off to a good start. btw, this is also an APPLE+ game so lots of NYY & BOS fans aren't even going to see this one.
  17. I had the rare Grid Immaculata today ... but of course that was helped out by the NYM being one of the categories. I still had trouble thinking of a Brewer/Met. Even 2023 Mets Daniel Vogelbach didn't occur to me and neither did Mark Canha because A) I didn't think of either, and in the case of Cahna I already forgot where we traded him so even thinking of him wouldn't have helped. Jeromy Burnitz and Mike Cameron came to mind but I didn't want to use them as I had an inkling I might need them elsewhere. So it then occurred to me that the Brewers were also the Seattle Pilots so I started thinking of characters from BALL FOUR and quickly hit upon Greg Goossen for a 0.04% recognition score. Adam Dunn occurred to me quickly for the CIN/WAS square, I thought of Ian Desmond for WAS/COL but I couldn't think of his name at first; I could picture him but it took a minute or so of thought before his name finally registered. That left me with CIN/MIL and COL/MIL where, devoid of any other options, I guessed both Burnitz and Cameron and, to my great surprise, discovered them both to be correct, hence immaculateness.
  18. Tonight is the lone 8:15 start in the series. Yesterday was moved up for network TV and Saturday's game is moved up an hour as well, followed by a day game Sunday.
  19. Goldschmidt as the winning run. Just sayin'.
  20. StL, you've just been LoCastro'd
  21. STOP SHRINKING MY SCREEN!!!! The biggest problem with FOX Sports is that they think they need to copy every Bad idea conjured up by ESPN.
  22. So if that play at 2nd was ruled a tag after the base then it's no longer a force play and the run should count ... but as I'm typing they come back from commercial to show that Goldschmidt had yet to reach home.
  23. Well that beats a borderline ball four.
