  1. I kept expecting SD to pull away from the other two and now it looks like they might be in the worst shape of the three - especially since Cameron was hurt in yesterday's game (another - although less serious - OF crash) and Milton Bradley was ejected AND injured at the same time (neat trick). The Rox have even won their last two with Holliday sitting on the sidelines (strained oblique).
  2. I never had a beef with ARod and still don't. Yeah he's a bit prissy at times but that's mostly tabloid stuff I couldn't give a crap about. But the fact remains that it was a BAD contract he signed (for the team of course, not him) as evidenced by the fact that the team who signed it almost immediately wanted out from under despite him being an MVP and that no one else would take him without a huge chunk of change to offset the remaining money owed. It's a good deal for the team who has him now only because they're getting him at approx 60 cents on the dollar and are claiming to anyone who'll listen that they'll no longer be interested unless some form of that discount continues. And the Met fans who are under the impression that he was ready back then to take a significantly smaller deal to come here on account of his (claimed) boyhood love for the team while growing up in his NYM footie-pajamas are just so deeply delusional that they're beyond reason at this point. So now - some 7 years later - we've got both SS & 3B covered for the foreseeable future meaning that this topic is closed as far as I'm concerned.

Rox - 6 games left - off today before heading to LA WC: Padres (2 games behind Mets) Phils -1/2 Rox -1-1/2 Braves -3-1/2 Dodgers -5-1/2
  4. ]Wh'appen? Did [the Dodger] pitching suddenly get all tired, too? According to Buster Olney (heard on the radio this morning) there's a severe rift that's developed between the younger & older factions on the team. "It's like it's two seperate squads". ]Are we Alyssa Milano's new favorite team again? Her baseball-related blog is entitled 'Touching Them All'. There's just too many jokes in there to know where to start.
  5. No, it's not just your imagination. The games lately have been taking an eternity to finish. All the extra-inning games aren't helping obviously, but you still have to go back 10 games to find one played in under 3-hours. Working backwards from today: Sun - 3:59 Sat - 3:15 Fri - 3:23 Thur - 3:52 Wed - 3:14 Tues - 3:14 Mon - 3:13 Sun - 3:50 Sat - 3:43 Fri - 2:47 But of course it could be worse ... you could be Yanqui fans.
  6. I have no reason to think that his birthday is anything other than what he says ... except that making up that date as his is exactly the sort of thing he'd do. He wouldn't be the first to fudge a few facts in the resume so as to perpetuate an image and he's already proven that he'll lie in public and force others to do so on his behalf towards achieving those kinds of ends.
  7. Maine - 1.4 Sosa - 0.4 Mota - 0.6 Smith - 0.6 Sele - 0.4 Schoeneweis - 0.4 Delgado - 1.8 Wright - 1.1 Beltran - 1.0 Alou - 1.0 LoDuca - 1.3
  8. So basically the magazine claims the agent is talking to a guy who doesn't own the team, about a player he can't talk about, in respect to a contract that can't be offered or accepted. Either that or the agent is blustering away again for the purpose of inflating the market prior to it being open.

  10. You are now free to go about breathing around the country. Put THAT in the books AND in the Philly clubhouse. * And right in the middle of another bullpen drama I change from Armando to Jesse!!
  11. 3 pitches, 2 outs -- and Schoeneweis will be in to face the lefty Hermida. Let's make JQ Adams' reign a short one.
  12. Geez Luis, you move BACK on a line drive until you know it's through. Getting a good jump there is NOT a priority. Seal in to try and sele it.
  13. We still need about 5 more runs.
  14. Good things happen when you swing the bat Luis.
  15. Those fly outs came in the wrong order. Gomez needs to be able to hit the ball out of the infield if he wants even a part-time ML job in the future.
  16. I liked the bunt there.
  17. Edgy DC wrote: How slow must Miggy be? He's slow, fat, and lazy.
  18. It's like whoever is needed to get that big out coughs it up that day.
  19. And whatdoyaknow .... another bunt out.
  20. Wagner is warming. Willie said in the pre-game that he'd like to give him another day but that he was available to go.
  21. That throw was perfect -- on target and low enough to be cut.
  22. Benjamin Harrison - grandson of WH George W. Bush - son of Geroge H. W. and the Roosevelts were cousins though I'm not sure how close
  23. Werth proves worthless with the game on the line Dust off them pictures of John Q. Adams
  24. Rowand RBI single - 1st & 2nd, 5-3 games, 1 out
  25. Victorino Ks Howard walks Rowand up as the tying run w/1 out
