  1. We spent all night bending but not breaking.
  2. That was Yuge. Now drop the IF back and get the slow footed runner at 1st. No errors please.
  3. Jeez, Edwin, a four pitch walk, really? And now another Lindor error!
  4. With Keith not broadcasting tonight, I'll praise Baty for going with the pitch to the opposite field and for his level follow through.
  5. Vientos's glove needs to be benched.
  6. Cliff Floyd breaking his wrist after running into Todd Hundley at a mostly empty Shea as they played the early innings of a Monday night final to a four game set in May '95 Cliff's screams were heard all over the sparsely attended park and Hundley later described seeing Floyd's 'glove bent back against his wrist'. That one was ugly. Yanqui 3B Oswaldo Cabrera, to no one's surprise, has a broken ankle although no official word yet as to whether there is accompanying ligament damage. 10 Day IL for now but obviously this will be months even under the best case scenario.
  7. Eric Young Jr. landing on the ankle of Tim Hudson on a play at 1B was a pretty obvious break. A cincy LFer skidded into the side wall about a week ago and broke his arm. You couldn't see a crooked arm or anything but it was obviously serious. And to add insult to injury, he dropped the ball because of it which wound up as an inside-the-park HR
  8. Nats tied up the Braves in the top of the 9th ... Braves won it in the bottom half
  9. Both teams tried very hard to lose this one. Only one succeeded.
  10. Bank it off the pillow at 2nd. Great strategy.
  11. Give them enough grounders and they'll eventually snag one of 'em.
  12. Man, you Never see infielders missing chest high hops. And now you have.
  13. It'll also be his 19th appearance in Game #42, tops on the staff. Not quite 'Perpetual Pedro' territory, but he's getting there.
  14. Cards make it nine straight as they win the opener in Philly 3-2
  15. Not a good throw from SS, not a good set-up/tag by the C. Would/coulda/shouda been out otherwise.
  16. Acuna's speed was responsible for both runs this inning. It sure wasn't the hitting as a ball has yet to leave the IF
  17. You can bunt with Pete up and two runners on early in the game, but I'm not.
  18. Who the Mets get runners on 1st & 2nd it's really just a matter of who is going to hit into the GiDP, not if someone will. Tonight's it's been Alonso and Alvarez
  19. Another leadoff hitter on (3/4) dammit!
  20. =MFS62 post_id=192429 time=1747091180 user_id=60] Right handed hitting White Sox center fielder with power and very good defense. We have two - Siri and Taylor. I think this guy is much better than Siri and more of an every day player than Taylor.
  21. Keeping a tab on rivals as we start the new week: - Phils will spend M/T/W hosting the Cardinals who bring their 8-game winning streak [vs NYMx2, PITx3, WASx3] into Phi-town - Braves will duel the Nats for four games starting tonight in ATL - Marlins go to Wrigley for three starting tomorrow - Yanx, who we'll see next, wrap up their two city west coast swing with three in Seattle, so both Mets & Yanx will have Thursday off prior to the weekend tilt in da Bronx
  22. As mentioned in the TWiB thread yesterday, the Pirates are coming off taking two of three vs the Braves in a series where the two teams combined for just 17 runs scored. And that's kind of par for the course with Pittsburgh as they sit DFL in runs scored at just 3.10/G. NL avg is 4.53 and the Rox & Braves are the only other teams under 4.0 It would be nice for them if they were the opposite with run prevention but they're no better than right around average there. And that's how you wind up with a 14-27 record. Skenes isn't quite as good as he was last year but he's pretty darn close despite a 3-4 record in eight starts. His Ks are down from 11.5 per/9 to 8.7 and his ERA up (2.77 from 1.96) but the WHIP, H/9, BB/9, HR/9 are essentially identical so if you're looking for signs of the league 'figuring him out' you'd be pretty much picking nits.
  23. If someone is hoping for a bounce back from a .282 OBA it's got to be a helluva big bounce before I'm interested.
  24. Let's hit him so hard that it makes Livvy cry.
  25. Jonah Tong had a perfect game going for 6-2/3 in a DH which, in the minors, is designated as a 7 inning game, and ... he was pulled from the game. Reliever TJ Shook K'd his lone batter to complete the combined Perfecto for Binghamton.
