  2. Currently raining in the Bronx. Yanx are getting 1-hit in the 6th, which means that they're winning 1-0 (Posada HR).

  4. 6 or 7 more runs and I'll start to feel a little safe here.
  5. Edgy DC wrote: Oh-for-six for Paulino. No, he had that ground-rule double over Cameron's head.
  6. I'd take a GiDP here (from Paulino) if it would get the 2nd run in ... but, alas, he Ks instead.
  7. Yeah, that's why you don't bunt Jason. And I'd also like to thank Logan Morrison for throwing that ball into 3rd and allowing Jason to get to 2nd
  8. Going back to the 8th inning - two of the Marlins last ten baserunners have come via hits. Walks, Int walks, an error, and an HBP ... plus one single and Cameron's double.
  9. If you're going to give up nine freaking walks in a game you're going to have to score more than four runs.

  14. Now we just need Bonafacio who we haven't gotten out this season yet.

  16. No reason to throw this dude (Lopez) a strike at this point - and, hell, he hadn't thrown one to anyone else this inning.
  17. I don't like where this inning is headed.
  18. Johnson is playing minor league ball this year and Stairs called it a career after the Nats released him earlier this year. So whether either of those two are correct answers depends on your definition of "active". Chad Cordero

First, I approve! and 2d) nice Zager & Evans (not Nick) reference. 1) You can never go wrong by throwing in Zager & Evans references. You just can't. 2) The length of these games is REALLY getting to me lately. Yeah, part of it is the recent Yanx/Sawx series which defies anyone's idea of good baseball*, but even two of these three Mets/Nats deals took over 3 hours and that 4th inning from Pelfrey just drove me nuts. Not only did he suck but he sucked at the rate of about two pitches per minute. Where have you gone Jim Kaat, our nation turns its tired eyes to you? * As Phil Mushnick pointed out in his Sunday column, the 5-game game Mets/O's 1969 WS took almost the exact amount of total time (11 and change hours which included one extra inning game) as the recent three-game Yanx/Sawx series. It's a real problem for MLB IMO and any steps they've taken to correct it lately ain't working.
  21. Nickeas pulls off a suicide squeeze!!!! Seems like the last time the Mets pulled one of those off Davey Johnson was in our dugout.
  22. Coffey takes over for Livan -- Team weight remains unchanged.
  23. Who is #915? Could it be ... Satin?
  24. Here's my solution for the pace of game problem: A pitcher needs to throw a pitch within twenty seconds or: - First offense: automatic Ball - 2nd offense: automatic walk - third offense: half-season suspension At this point Pelfrey would be suspended through the year 2525 (if man is still alive?) Duda ties it up with a HR as I'm venting.
  25. The other thing to talk about was the Reyes 7th inning sac bunt. On the one hand you can say that it "worked" because the runner bunted over came in for the go-ahead run. On the other the one thing a sac bunt does even if successful is cut down on the big innings and that 'one-and-only-one run strategy wasn't enough in the end. I didn't like it at the time and still don't. btw, that was the second time this year we've lost to the Nats on a cheapie walk-off single. July 31st was the other where an Ian Desmond broken bat dribbler beat us after Hairston had tied up in the top of the 9th with a 2-out solo shot off Drew Storen. Both losses came off Parnell -- both started with a Jesus Flores lead-off single -- both involved a wild-pitch -- both hits came with just one out -- both negated earlier NYM comebacks
