  1. Young--who has the annoying nickname of 'EY', or often 'EY Junyah' among TV announcers--actually hit decently last season [.316/.377/.448 // 825 - with the whole 'Coors Field' caveat] but not so much this year and has never been given as many as 200 ABs in a season. He had been DFA'd by the Rox a few days ago so it looks like Colorado said: 'Well I guess this McHugh guy is better than nothing. Yes he is Rockies fans, but not much. Aside from his WOW! debut start (which he did NOT even win) he's been pretty much awful and has lasted [u:36cgwyme]a total[/u:36cgwyme] of 9.1 innings while giving up 17 runs in his three starts since. btw, happy birthday Collin, you've been traded (26 today). Young is 28

  3. And they didn't take the ball out of play.
  4. For all the baseball that's been played today, Met pitchers have yet to throw a pitch behind in the score. That one friggin pitch to Freeman is the only real blemish in the last 22 hours.
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'm not impressed at all with the Braves, beyond, you know, acknowledging they have a few good players. But jeez they ain't a 15-games-over-.500 team are they? They are because of their starting pitching. Erratic in a lot of other places though. Very hit-n-miss offense and, like I said a few posts ago, their pen isn't nearly as deep as what we've been used to in recent years, particularly from the left side.
  6. With the injuries to those couple of Braves' lefties, their pen isn't all that intimidating now unless and until you get to Kimbrel.
  7. How many wall scrapers has Wright hit over the last week or so? Seems like about a dozen.
  8. I'm getting quite sick of these Braves and their infield choppers. Those two from Uggla in game one, the bunt-chopper that started this inning, and that one just there from Heyward that prevented any chance of a DP or even a force play. It's one thing if it's intentional but these are obviously not.
  9. Leif Erikson is younger than Atchison

  11. TransMonk wrote: Gary just gave the same stats on first appearances by players based on the decade of their birth that BG did in today's earlier. IGT Gary Cohen: Cranepool Lurker? Oh we've suspected that for years now.
  12. I propose the nickname L'il Abner for Recker. He needs a slightly different haircut but did you see the forearms on that guy?!?
  13. There's your (lack of) run support kid, get used to it.
  14. Edgy MD wrote: Braves get a Steve Miller Band concert and the Mets get F'r'n'r? What a rip! Nats recently had 'Blues Traveller' I saw a feed from Anaheim the other day and they were playing up the upcoming appearance there by country act 'Big & Rich'
  15. We tried to lose but were unsuccessful as BJ grounds out to Muffy.
  16. Mets decide to make things MORE interesting by going out 1-2-3 on 7 pitches in their half of the 9th.

  18. Liner off the glove of Duda goes for two-bases and one run. IW for Freeman ... and I think we'll see Parnell for the attempted four-out save.
  19. Only one hard hit ball this inning (Simmons) but one walk plus two with tricky hops that could only get turned into one out total despite force plays all around.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Reed Johnson is one of those Keith Lockhart types that will surely cost us a win. J Upton in for R Johnson ... and he grounds into a FC 1st & 3rd, two out And now Rice in to face the LH Heyward
  21. Hawkins Ks McCann - although it doesn't appear that J Upton was ever announced into the game. Terry might have jumped the gun on the ol' switcheroo
  22. TransMonk wrote: Agreed, I would have gone to the pen for the 8th. And now we do. Doesn't help matters that the Braves' bench is chock full of Uptons today.
  23. Vic Sage wrote: I don't know about letting Harvey hit here; he has pitched enough today and probably won't go 9, so why not pinch-hit to try and blow it open. Except that Harvey is probably as likely to get a hit as any PHer, so never mind. Plus we already have a four run lead and I want at least one more inning out of Harvey (translation: I want one FEWER inning out of the pen).
  24. If you were Dave Carpenter and I were Jordany would you walk me anyway could I get a Ribbe?
