  1. If Adrian Johnson - last night's 2B ump who is at 1st today - had decided to change his call on the EYJr play this game would be tied now.
  2. Papelbon has blown two games in the last week -- one he got the loss, in the other he gave up the tie before the Phils won in extras.
  3. I think you're below the Mendoza line in PCTA* these days, * Posting in the Correct Thread Average
  4. So who's going to get the GW-HR off of Papelbon? Get your votes in before it's too late.
  5. This game has really had the brakes slammed on. I think the top of the 6th started like an hour ago.
  6. Not a good time for the worst AB of the year from Wright.
  7. I have no idea what to make of that call (callS really) at 2nd. I'd be throwing things around the room right now if that turned out to make a difference in the game, and it quite easily could have. Lagares was the star of the game both offensively and defensively. Three more not just scoreless but hitless innings for the NYM Pen.

I think it means that it took a shock to his system before he started to listen to anyone. Also means that AAA pitching is easier to hit than ML pitching and that Vegas is a better hitting environment than the near sea-level of NYC and many of the other NL parks. And again, let's not treat a few good games like it's a cure from Miracle Max.
  9. Is it my imagination, or has the opposition had like 75 infield hits against us in the past week?
  10. Hamels may claim to be pitching (somewhat) better than his 2-10 record indicates - but also indicated is that he's pitching demonstrably worse than his previous self. ERA: 2011 = 2.79; 2012 = 3.05; 2013 = 4.40 WHiP = 0.97; 1.12; 1.27 BB/9 = 1.8; 2.2; 2.7 HR/9 = 0.8; 1.0; 1.1 And take a look at these splits for Domonic Brown April - .233/.309/.372; 3 HRs May = .303/.303/.688; 12 HRs -- that's right, ZERO walks for the entire month (109 PAs) June = .269/.342/.507; 4 HRs -- and those June HRs were all by the 8th of the month. Since then he's 5 for his last 37, all singles
  11. Wheeler - 3.4 Aardsma - 0.3 Edgin - 0.3 Byrd - 1.5 Recker - 1.5 Satin - 1.0 Wright - 1.0 Quintanilla - 1.0
  12. Harvey - 4.5 Parnell - 1.0 Murphy - 1.2 Byrd - 1.2 Quintanilla - 0.5 Valdespin - 0.5 Buck - 1.1
  13. Yeah, I was looking at Murph the other day when I noticed that our top ten falls just short of have all at 1,000+ Looks like he'll have to hang around through at least the end of 2015 to pass HoJo
  14. Like I said, let's see Ike keep this up for a few weeks at least before we think about bringing him back up. Post-ASB should be the earliest IMO. Plus it gives the OF roster a few spins around to see how things shape up and shake out. Somebody's got to go when Davis gets back (cuz Duda headed back to LF) and you'd like to see someone or several someones step up and earn the right to stay in CF & RF.

So we're probably looking at late 2016 before Wright gets this one even if things go well injury-wise. Career Ground Into Double Play by a Met 1. Ed Kranepool 138 2. Mike Piazza 132 3. Jerry Grote 122 4. David Wright 120 5. Cleon Jones 106 Seems like he started this week tied with Jones.
  16. Yeah, he's suddenly up to .306/.457/.583 // 1040 over 36 ABs/46 PAs, which looks even better after that slow start 6 of his 11 hits are for XBs and walks are outpacing Ks 10 to 9 Nice going dude. Now keep it up for another few weeks and then we'll talk. And did you hear Gary talking last night about the checklist of things they wanted Ike to work on?: Well (relayed via Terry) ... we want to cut down on his swing hitch ... and we're working on him keeping his weight back ... and we'd like to see him cut back on his head movement ... and we're trying to get him closer to the plate ... and then there's the pitch recognition thing ... And I'm thinking, 'Shit, if it were easy to teach guys all that stuff I just might jump a plane to Vegas and see if they could fix me'!
  17. The one good thing about Young out there in the 9th last night was that Parnell had to feel good about an OF of Young - Lagares - Byrd behind him. Some of our early season defensive alignments were not nearly as comforting.
  18. But Young is a certified LEAD-OFF!!!! hitter.
  19. Zvon wrote: I don't like this. BJ Upton bobblehead night and it comes down to him. Not that I care, but what exactly has BJ Upton done to deserve a bobblehead night? Dude's been on the Braves for what, like 70 games so far and has gotten about 15 hits in that time.
  20. Won the game and won the series - so there's only one thing left to do ... endlessly discuss how this affects LeBron's legacy.
  21. Parnell vs Freeman and a pair of Uptons
  22. Swan Swan H wrote: Why not Rice? Is he finally spent, or has Edgin passed him in the pecking order? In case you haven't noticed, Rice hasn't been retiring so many peeps lately. I know I preferred seeing Edgin there.
  23. Edgin v Heyward = Biggest match-up of the game
