  3. Well, if we're not going to hit our way to victories we'll just hang around long enough until the opposition walks and errors a run in. btw, that inning tacks on another 0-2 w/RiSP onto that above yucky total.
  4. If the SS doesn't bobble that one it was probably a GiDP
  5. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: We might not screw thus one up. 1st and 3rd 0 out Got at least a 6% chance of scoring.
  6. Mets are now 5-43 (.116) w/RiSP over the last 8 games But as bad as that sounds, it's actually worse as 2 of those 5 hits didn't even bring in runs even though one of them was a double (remember deGrom tagging up on a ball off the wall?) The 3 hits that did result in RBIs brought in a total of 4 runs [2 1-run singles + 1 2-run single] Most of our other runs this past week have been Granderson solo HRs
  7. I've never seen anything like this sustained string of group RiSP incompetence.
  8. His problem is that his whiffs wind up with no exit velocity at all.
  9. Yeah this isn't a DH (at least as far as I know) so, yes, they would be permitted to make a roster move between games. In fact I think they have to since I don't believe Matz has been officially added yet so the move that would have been made last night will be made this afternoon instead.
  10. Zvon wrote: So they pick it up tomorrow at 1pm? Yup, the final 3 innings (or more) of this one followed by the entirety of the regular game. That's 12 more times at bat for the Mets so I predict at least four hits on the afternoon, maybe even as many as six.
  11. 1 HR + 3 doubles + 2 singles + 4 walks in 6 innings = 1 run One almost has to admire that accomplishment considering how tough it is to pull off. I suspect we're going to see a game and a half tomorrow.
  12. Perhaps if they try looking at more called strike threes then things might improve.
  13. The phrase that pays for today is: and the Mets strand another leadoff double
  14. And quickly the weather conditions are acting against our interests.
  15. A broken hamate bone specifically, done on a check swing Friday night. Probably six to eight weeks.
  16. Syndergaard - 5.5 Granderson - 1.5 Familia - 1.0 Herrera - 1.5 Duda - 0.25 Campbell - 0.25
  17. And I wasn't even cribbing as I didn't hear the post-game. Now we are all left to judge whether the reasoning caused the action or the action triggered the reasoning.
  18. There's been a Michael Fulmer sighting. The #44 overall draft pick in 2011 that the Mets were awarded courtesy of the Yanx and their ill-fated signing of Pedro Feliciano, Fulmer made an immediate splash in Savannah in 2012 but has had nothing but injury problems since; just 46 total IP in 2013, then 98 more in 2014. But now with 10 starts under his belt in 2015 (1 at PSL, 9 at Bingo) and still just 22 y/o, things are looking up again as he makes this week 'Hot List' in BA. BA: Good health has been about the only thing standing in the way of Fulmer and wider recognition on the prospect scene. The 2011 sandwich pick has a pair of big league-caliber pitches with his fastball and slider, and while some scouts project him to the bullpen, he sports a 17-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his past three starts, during which time hes allowed one run and a .200 opponent average.
  19. Nymr83 wrote: WHYYYY is Noah out after only 89 pitches? The obvious answer is that you already know the answer: he's out because the inning says it's time to take him out and no manager wants to be second-guessed on that move. I suspect if you were to ask a manager why he'd give you an answer along the lines of not wanting to allow three tough hitters like Votto, Frazier, & Bruce to get swings against a 4th look at the same pitcher when just one swing can kill the lead. Whether you choose to believe that or not is certainly up to you.
  20. Familia is going to need to earn his keep in the 9th: Votto - Bruce - Frazier
  21. Give a promotion to whoever just cut Gelbs' mike cable.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Frazier might've been in there if he didn't slide like a sucker. Down goes Frazier. Down goes Frazier.
  23. I do hope Wilmer tagged him there.
