  1. In the response to the various Granderson/Cuddyer suxx themes going on: Plawecki: .262/.333/.310 -- 0 HRs Duda: .187/.310/.264 -- 1 HR Flores: .221/.257/.337 -- 2 HR Herrera: .167/.282/.292 -- 1 HR Tejada: .230/.306/.322 -- 0 HR Campbell: .156/.240/.244 -- 1 HR Cuddyer: .211/.237/.311 -- 1 HR Lagares: .260/.267/.410 -- 2 HR Granderson: .297/.371/.544 -- 7 HRs
  2. Got news for you people, every hitter not named Granderson sucks right now! (ironically, only Granderson has a 'He Sucks' thread dedicated directly to him)

Every July 1st different segments of the media "discover" the fact that Bonilla is getting deferred money from the Mets and go about touting this nugget as it's both the funniest thing they've ever heard and a previously unknown item.
  4. It would have been better if, during this stretch where the Yanx have lost 7 of 10, if all the other AL East teams didn't decide to all suck at the same time too - but it's made for a nice tight race over there as there are four teams within one game of each other. BAL --- TBR --- NYY -0.5 TOR -1.0 the only laggard at the moment is Boston and even they've tightened things up a bit as they've been the ones taking out Toronto the last two nights. And, unlike the NL East, you don't foresee one team getting hot and running away with things so it's quite possible -- one could even say likely -- that 86/87 wins takes this division.
  5. Matz - 6.0 Granderson - 2.0 Campbell - 0.8 Robles - 0.3 Monell - 0.6 Mayberry - 0.3
  6. Harvey - 3.5 Familia - 1.0 Robles - 0.7 Verrett - 1.0 Parnell - 0.5 Granderson - 1.5 Duda - 1.0 Flores - 0.3 Herrera - 0.5
  7. OK, we've now lost five straight to these chumps, four of them by just one run and we're coming off (yet another) game of being held down by some nondescript pitcher. Maybe the stakes need to be raised in order to get things going and Chicago tries that tonight with Jon Lester on the mound. We actually got to him for 3 runs over 6 IP (that's practically an orgasm of runs for this squad) earlier in the year but wound up losing anyway as deGrom picked that particular game to serve up two HRs in the 1st. And, if nothing else, closing out this series with two wins would slide us ahead of the Cubbies for 1st runner-up in the WC race heading into the July 4th weekend.
  8. Niese - 4.0 Murphy - 1.0 Parnell - 0.5 Gilmartin - 0.5 Plawecki - 0.25 Duda - 0.25
  9. NYM batters have been very good tonight at striking out after being ahead in the count. They must have been practicing that particular art.
  10. And the two common threads I've been using for the last two weeks have reared their ugly heads again tonight: - Plays. Not. Made. - [insert Pitcher Here] is shutting us down through ___ innings.

He was a top-50 prospect who hasn't yet proved he belongs up here but always hit in the minors. I remember Olt being discussed in a Met trade at one point (Dickey probably) but, if it were ever true, we dodged a major bullet by looking elsewhere. He was a top-50 type prospect for a while but his stock really took a hit with a .201/.303/.381 line w/126 K in 361 AB split between AAA Round Rock & Des Moines back in 2013 Will turn 27 next month and probably shouldn't be looked at as anything other than a back-up/fill-in at this point. Classic guy with power potential but far too much swing-and-miss to his game.
  12. deGrom - 4.8 Familia - 0.7 Granderson - 2.0 Flores - 1.5 Duda - 0.5 Cuddyer - 0.5
  13. Verrett - 1.5 Granderson - 2.0 Tejada - 0.5
  14. Niese - 3.0 Granderson - 1.5 Parnell - 0.6 Plawecki - 0.5 Flores - 0.4

Fuck these marginal upgrades that small sample size or random luck could make not overly helpful. Syndergaard to the Cubs for Addison Russell -- which side says no or says they want more?
  18. I believe Jed Lowrie is close to coming off Houston's DL list (torn thumb ligament in April) and will he's be gone they promoted their SS uber-prospect Carlos Correa. They might want Lowrie at 3B instead but every team (with the possible exception of the Nats) would give us something for a piece of our pitching and the switch-hitting Lowrie is 3 years younger than the much-discussed Ben Zobrist and is at least close to as versatile. Lowrie 2013-2015: 1,302 PA; .273/.339/.413 Zobrist 2013-2015: 1,533 PA; .271/.354/.404 Niese + something for Lowrie + possible future leadoff dude Tony Kemp

  20. A couple of tweaks for Tuesday night to get the offense going in this age of six-man rotations, seven-man bullpens, and shortened benches P - Niese C - Plawecki 1B - Matz 2B - Harvey SS - deGrom 3B - Murphy LF - Syndergaard CF - Lagares RF - Granderson The exact order one chooses here is largely irrelevant, I'm just trying to get more of our best hitters in the game. Bartolo will, of course, be the first bat off the bench.
  21. A ranking of Stevens for the day (with a nod to the late Stan Isaacs) 1) Matz 2) Miller 3) Gelbs
  22. I saw the subject heading and assumed this had something to do with a team employing a new type of defensive shift called the 'Maginot Line'.

  24. That was some funky shit going' down at the Citi Now they know how to get hits w/RiSP - bring up a rookie pitcher to hit one over the head of the fastest man in baseball.
  25. If this game goes into extra-innings and lasts as long as the 1st one, the 'Steve Miller Band' could find themselves as the opening act to the 'Heart' concert that's scheduled to come around soon.
