  1. Anyone else get the idea that "limited commercial interruption" is code for "constant commercial interruption"?
  2. The only surprising thing about that Duda strikeout is that it lasted four pitches.
  3. Edgy MD wrote: That double-play... . That and the various relievers in that inning retiring just 2 of the 8 hitters they faced.
  4. Yesterday was merely 2:20 of torture.
  5. Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit mainlining heroin.

  7. Bring on the dancing bears!!
  8. Leading off an inning I'd be even more inclined to use a pitcher rather than Monell. deGrom and/or Matz, both of whom are probably faster than Monell also.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: If Cuddyer is unavailable, that just leaves the team with Monell and a bunch of pitchers on the bench. And I'd PH one of the pitchers before burning Monell.

  11. Flores leading off and, whatever you do Wilmer, no leadoff doubles!!
  12. This would be a fun game to watch if it weren't for the fact that it's been such a bad game to watch.
  13. The Cubs are going to sweep this series with three runs scored.
  14. They always say you can see something at a ballgame that you've never seen before.
  15. I had visions of Parnell just missing that attempt and knocking the ball away in the process and not getting either out as a result. Well we've now got two chances to score vs their one so this is where the home-field edge should be to our advantage. Now if only with had some hitters in our lineup.
  16. The inability to hit a ball out of the infield hurts us again.
  17. The last actual HIT that knocked in a run (not an FC, or an error, or a walk) that wasn't from either Granderson or Matz was last Thursday vs Milwaukee and that was the Duda infield hit that won the game. Earlier in that same game there was a Flores double which was the last outfield hit that scored a run of the non-Grandy/Matz variety.
  18. These leadoff doubles continue to be rally killers.
  19. Even our hits w/RiSP don't drive in runs. Frayed Knot wrote: Didn't like IBB-ing Ross to get to the pitcher this early in the game And now you DON'T have the pitcher leading off the inning ... and, surprise, the leadoff man gets on.
  20. Mayberry with a leadoff double ... no chance of runs this inning.
  21. Didn't like IBB-ing Ross to get to the pitcher this early in the game And then I like even less the idea of letting Ross just stroll down to 2B uncontested. So what if the Cubs try and pull the steal of home thing. There were two outs so as long as you get the slow-forted Ross it shouldn't matter. Of course that assumes the Mets 'D' makes a clean play but it beats a 2-run inning if Lester closes his eyes and makes contact. And, as we know, 2 runs might be more than we can overcome.
  22. Current word is that Cuddyer had an MRI and will miss a couple days, but most likely NOT need to go on the DL. On the Conforto front, Brandon Nimmo is one who is going to have to be added to the 40-man roster prior to the 2016 season anyway so perhaps he, with his 4x the number of AA ABs under his belt as compared to Conforto, would be the more logical call-up if one is needed anytime soon. Confront, drafted two years later, won't be under those constrictions this coming winter.
  23. - Jerry DiPoto loses a power struggle with field manager Mike Scioscia and is OUT as Angels GM Supposedly the DiPoto-ites were trying to install their Sabremetric ways to the players and were willing to go over, around, or through Scioscia and his staff to do it. But that was always a tough battle to win for DiPoto when the manager has been there forever, has an expensive contract still with years to go on it, and has the franchise's only WS ring on his hand. Plus Scioscia can opt out of his deal after this season and, if so, would certainly have his pick of jobs going forward -- like across town where his "going home" would be seen as a pr coup for the Dodgers and a black-eye for the Angels -- or maybe to his actual home town team of Philadelphia where the incumbent now is strictly interim and he might even get a say in the new GM as well. - Meanwhile there's a book coming out on the current LA Dodgers regime which apparently spills the beans that everyone hates Yasiel Puig. "Best Team Money Can Buy" (sound familiar?) by ESPN's Molly Knight talks about Puig's (lack of) work ethic, sense of entitlement, near fist-fights over his entourage, tardiness, etc. Getting rid of him would be "addition by subtraction" claims a teammate.
  24. Although when your supposed 30 HR man is [u:2nwu6el8]slugging .264[/u:2nwu6el8] for the month he has to be part of the conversation as well.
