  1. Funny headlines, great graphics, extra-innings pressure-packed haiku... this place is great!
  2. Nice call Martin! As suggested here the other day, 3 LA outs and perhaps the headlines in NY will be "Chip's Ahoy!"
  3. The home plate umpire makes me think of the crooked NBA ref.
  4. C'mon Carlos D...you're due! C'mon Paulie...you're due! C'mon Shawn...you're due!
  5. Before Loney's single that made it 2-0, did anybody else think that Loney's hitting so well, that they should walk him (the runner was on 2d) to face Ethier?
  6. I know it's only July and there's "plenty of baseball left to be played" but this feels like a big game. BV always said it's a big game "because it's the one we're playing today" but this one seems bigger than most. It's the "rubber game" of the road trip, it means winning a series against another first place team, and it's the day before a day off (so the result lingers until 7:10 on Tuesday). So LGM!!!
  7. Zvon--thank you for the Harry Potter KABOOM! I missed the last half of the game so I couldn't thank you earlier.
  8. FK: according to the website I just found, Vasgersian is on the Padres TV team. But you're right: he's not a regular FOX baseball guy. They needed a backup and he's on the payroll but why not have Kenny Albert do a game that's being shown in NY? http://www.nmia.com/%7Eroberts/media06.html Hey, Allisa Millano's at the game. I'm stunned!
  9. A request for the KABOOM! providers: can we please have a Harry Potter related KABOOM for the next homer?
  10. When the Dick Ebersol/Vince McMahon football league was on NBC, the lead announcer was Matt Vasgersian. He's not bad but he's trying too hard today. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XFL#Broadcast_teams
  11. Mr. XFL is trying to show his knowledge of the Mets but he's trying too hard by trotting out stories from years ago.
  12. McCarver just said "no-nos." Outta site!
  13. FK: Buck seems to be allowed to pick his own schedule. Given that this is a "Game of the Week", and he's the lead announcer, you'd think he'd show up every once in awhile. Perhaps the Bonds chase and a meeting between NY and LA isn't big enough for him and he's waiting for the next Yankees game. Meanwhile, as you suggested, you know he'll be there for every week of the NFL season including all the exhibition games.
  14. Hey Mr. XFL, it's go-TIE, not go-TAY.
  15. Perez 4 Beltran 2 Anderson 2 Reyes 1 Feliciano .5 Wagner .5
  16. Gary Cohen said it's because of LA traffic. I don't know if he was kidding. And how great is it that EI has the SNY feed tonight!
  17. Last Sunday, we saw Kevin James and Adam Sandler at Shea plugging "Chuck & Larry." On Tuesday, Sandler was on Letterman and he said that they took batting practice at Shea on Sunday and at Yankee Stadium on Monday. Sandler said that at Shea, he put on a Met uniform, even though he is a Yankee fan. But on Monday, Kevin James refused to put on a Yankee uniform during batting practice because he's a Mets fan. Then on Thursday, Kevin James was on Letterman and he told us the name of his new baby girl: Shea. He said he suggested it because he's a Mets fan and his wife liked the name! Way to go, King of Queens!
  18. Funny one, Edgy.
  19. I think he goes after Chad Cordero but Bowden wants to destroy his trading partners instead of making an equitable deal so that doesn't happen. Perhaps Lidge or Weathers. The problem with Cordero and Lidge is their current teams see them as Closers and want Closer-value in return while other teams see them as set-up guys so they don't value the player as high. For the bench, Rich Aurilia (St. John's), Kevin Millar, and/or Jeff Conine. In other words, fine tuning rather than a big splash.
  20. The Mets offered Anderson one year and the Nationals offered him two.
  21. Scully just called Rick Peterson a "dutch uncle." What does that mean? Perhaps someone who wears a jacket all the time?
  22. Gee, what did everybody think ofvwhen Scully described the "little ground ball" to first?
  23. Holy crap!
  24. Edgy DC wrote: I'm interested. Do you think his talk total is greater than that of a typical booth with two or three guys? I'm just wondering if it's too much talk or a lack of variety. Edgy--that's also a good point. Does Gary + Keith and/or Ron = Vin (in terms of number of words only)?
  25. I forgot that. It's still a lot of yakking. To me, he no Murph.
