  1. Perhaps Sandy should have found a way to add Champ Stuart to the 40-man or resigned Eric Young, Jr. (before the MFYs did).
  2. Lefty Specialist wrote: Pointless distraction. I'm not angry, just that they've got better things to do. I agree with LS. I lived through Tebow with the Jets. What's next, the New York Rangers? He'll never sniff Citi Field so what's the point? Perhaps it's Jeffy's idea to increase the Brooklyn attendance next year. As for his being a "good dude", that's debatable but I'd rather leave it at at that and focus on the how well the Mets are playing.
  3. Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 5m5 minutes ago Mets are signing Tim Tebow to a minor-league contract, an MLB source tells ESPN. Instructional League or Arizona Fall League next for Tebow. I never want to hear that the Wilpons don't have any money because even though this is low-risk and likely cheap, even if it costs them $5 it's $5 wasted dollars on a talentless piece of garbage. One scout saw him last week and said that he looked like an actor trying to be a baseball player... but Sandy knows best.
  4. Is Reyes OK? If so, then why didn't Terry give him the steal sign?
  5. Today's sleepy lineup: De Aza CF Conforto LF Flores 2B Bruce RF Johnson 3B d'Arnaud C Loney 1B Reynolds SS Colon P
  6. I thought that they might find a way to add Roger Bernadina (who isn't on the 40-man but they could have DFA'd Campbell). Metsminors.net had a good suggestion to add some speed: http://metsminors.net/mets-could-benefit-from-stuarts-speed-in-september/ Billy Hamilton got hurt yesterday which means that he won't steal 10 bases on Wednesday against Thor.
  7. Zvon wrote: I really appreciate the MLB.tv sticks with the WOR radio broadcast for quite a while after the game.... That's a recent change and definitely welcome.
  8. I was listening to the Reds game today (zzzzz) and they said that there will be a ceremony tomorrow for Jay Bruce to honor his years with the Reds. I hope that Bruce responds better to his return than Walker did.
  9. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: Centerfield wrote: How fucking dumb is Jay Bruce Yeah, with two outs, a sac fly wouldn't bring him home. But he could score from second on a base hit. And Reyes is a decent candidate to hit a single. But, is that on Teufel or Bruce? That's a good question but there's no time for that, they have to talk about Murphy and Harper!
  10. ESPN does the worst job at broadcasting baseball. Between their storylines, the "K Zone", the crawl at the bottom, and their announcers never shutting up it's awful. I'd rather listen to Joe Buck feign interest in baseball or watch TBS with the box on the right side of the screen than have the Mets on ESPN. Having said that, I really hope to watch the Mets in the Wild Card game on ESPN on October 5th
  11. Did you see Harper fake throwing the ball into the stands? What a jerk.
  12. It doesn't make his success any easier to take but Murphy cost himself a lot of money. The Mets QO was $15.8 million. He signed with WSH for 3 years at $37.5 million (and WSH only gives back-loaded contracts). With the season he is having (assuming he'd have that year with the Mets), he would have made a lot more as a free agent this winter than he did last winter.
  13. Pretty psyched to hear ESPN fillating Murphy all night.
  14. Gazelle-Man can stay. Way to go!
  15. And again in the 8th.
  16. Per Rubin: The Mets' call-ups on Thursday when rosters expand will include Michael Conforto, Ty Kelly, Gabriel Ynoa and Kevin Plawecki, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Another wave is expected after the 51s' season ends Monday. and Here are 40-man roster players not in MLB today: Edgin, Goeddel, Montero, Ynoa, Plawecki, Campbell, Kelly, Reynolds, Rivera, Conforto, Nimmo. ----------------------- I'm guessing that we'll see all of them by Monday afternoon in Cincinnati. Bernadina might help but he's not on the 40-man. http://www.espn.com/mlb/team/roster/_/name/nym/new-york-mets
  17. You capitalized "Girly" and I thought that was her name. Why wouldn't it be?
  18. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/11493214/v1113502883?cid=mlb "Must C" video. C is for Cespedes.
  19. Why didn't they just send Gselleman down? He's not going to pitch for a few days after starting yesterday and can be recalled on Thursday.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: Why does Mattingly always seem to get replay reviews that are initiated by the umps so that, even if he loses, that he continually gets more later in the game? I was just thinking the same thing: he'll talk the umpires into looking into a play before the game is over.
  21. Tonight is the first of 7 straight night games. I don't want to get all Mushnick-y here but I'm surprised that the final game of the Miami series isn't during the day. Saturday should be a day game but the Mets don't schedule Saturday afternoon home games. Sunday is a night game courtesy of ESPN... and then the Mets play on Monday in Cincinnati at 1 PM.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: I was thinking of proactively pulling Gsellman after six innings even though he was sailing at that point.... If d'Arnaud gets on, Cespedes pinch-hits and Gsellman never starts the 7th.
  23. Robles has been shit lately so of course use him with the bases loaded. Terry is a fucking idiot. Use Reed or anyone else.
  24. Pete McKanin shaking his head in the dugout right now talking to his SS: Galvis, son. Oh Galvis, son. Very good!
  25. Were you there? That accounts for about 1/4 of the crowd. There was a guy in a Mets "Murphy" jersey two rows in front of me.
