  1. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I agree that this would be a fantastic game to win, especially since tomorrow is looking more and more like a rainout. And perhaps the next day, if not the entire series, in Denver.
  2. Həˈlō to the TCD Staff! I get texts from Newsday's Tim Healy (as a digital subscriber) and he texted that at 9:20 and said, "Here is the early version of the backpage for the paper tomorrow. A little inside baseball for you: The first version of the newspaper starts getting printed right about now. So, this back page -- and my story about the games -- will need to be updated at least once tonight. Doubleheaders can be complicated!"

  4. Should have bunted with Nimmo and hoped for a WP b/c they can't hit with runners on base.
  5. Chad ochoseis wrote: What's going on? He certainly didn't do that deliberately in a tie game. Especially against a guy who isn't hitting.
  6. I think the concept is that with shorter games the players won't be around each other for as long which lessens the risk of Covid. This is contradicted by split doubleheaders (the Mets currently have 3 scheduled) which requires the players to be around each other even longer.
  7. In a 7-inning game, shouldn't the arbitrary requirement of 5 innings for a starting pitcher to get a win be lowered?
  8. Umpires suck. The runner still hasn't touched home plate but PHI wins and ATL loses because of this call by Lance Barrett. Even Ron Kulpa is embarrassed: https://twitter.com/Cody_T_Jones/status/1381431028544311296https://twitter.com/Cody_T_Jones/status/1381431028544311296
  9. PHI defeated ATL tonight but had to use 5 pitchers so they'll be too tired to put up much of a fight against the potent Mets offense.
  10. Or start Lucchesi and send him down, I mean, to the alternate site, after the game. Stroman is the #2 SP now and I'd like to see him against PHI this week.
  11. =TransMonk post_id=60427 time=1618172169 user_id=71] =G-Fafif post_id=60421 time=1618170265 user_id=55] The suspended game will be scheduled for nine innings. The scheduled game that night will be seven innings.
  12. Why are they playing? MIA is in NY two more times so the game can be made up.
  13. =Fman99 post_id=60379 time=1618108978 user_id=86] Seriously, though, fuck Edwin Diaz.
  14. That's how you recover after Thursday's loss: you don't waste energy by throwing at McNeil or Conforto, you square up when you have the opportunity, you throw tough pitches on 0-2, you get solid relief pitching, and you drive in runners when the opportunity is presented.
  15. Dear Don Mattingly: Go F yourself.
  16. Edgy MD wrote: Villar needs give his money back on that last at-bat. But he provides depth! #sarcasm
  17. 1st inning, 1st and 3d, no one out--CS, K, K. Damn.
  18. He'll get better but so far, McCann looks no better than Nido or Ramos.
  19. The analysis that was used to start Pillar rather than Dom on Opening Day (righty v lefty) should have been used today to sit Conforto's sorry ass down. On 2-0, why did Lindor take that fat pitch? Gary said that he was waiting for a strike after 6 straight balls but Keith disagreed. Lindor is too good a pitcher to let one go by on the chance that there will be another ball. Rogers then threw a beauty to even the count.
  20. "Guys! We have first and third with nobody out!" "Jake's pitching" "You're right, let's do nothing."
  21. That's a good point, FK. Also, don't count the run until home plate has been touched. We don't need pro-active bug operators! ("human cockfighting championship"--really funny, I think, it could be true.)

  23. HP Umpire Ron Kulpa said that he was culpable. Because it was a strike, Conforto getting hit was irrelevant and he should have called it that way. Oh well. https://twitter.com/SteveGelbs/status/1380281375450877955/photo/1https://twitter.com/SteveGelbs/status/1380281375450877955/photo/1
  24. Oh Brodie, you are still haunting the Mets.
