  1. A great, Keith-like, play by Pete! Let's hear Keith's analysis! Sorry, we're doing an interview that could have been done literally at any other time but during the game. This "baseball talk show" is the kind of crap that we get from ESPN (including this coming Sunday). We're watching the game, why aren't they talking about the game?
  2. Put the Molina love on hold as he is on the DL. The Mets go to STL for 4 next week. https://twitter.com/InsideInjuries/status/1387161288929955840https://twitter.com/InsideInjuries/status/1387161288929955840
  3. After an unnecessary day off, the Mets are back in action at CF against the red hot Boston Red Sox (game time: 7:10) Keep an eye out for Alex Verdugo who BOS acquired in the Mookie Betts trade. Besides helping my fantasy team, Verdugo is helping the Red Sox: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/verdual01.shtmlhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/verdual01.shtml. He missed Sunday's game w/tight hamstrings so we'll see if he is available on Tuesday. It's David Peterson (LHP) against Garrett Richards (RHP): https://www.mlb.com/gameday/red-sox-vs-mets/2021/04/27/634410#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634410https://www.mlb.com/gameday/red-sox-vs-mets/2021/04/27/634410#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634410 Richards has been in the majors for 11 years and has never started against the Mets. From Tim Britton in The Athletic: [bLOCKQUOTE]The Red Sox lead baseball in most offensive categories: runs, batting average (by 15 points!), slugging, wOBA, wRC+, etc. Only four teams strike out less than Boston, and the only one of them deGrom won't see this regular season is the one sharing his dugout. (The White Sox, Royals and Astros are the other three.) So if he wants to become the first pitcher to ever punch out 14 or more in four straight games, he's going to have to earn it. (Nobody's had four straight with 13 punchouts, either, for what it's worth.) ... The Mets and Red Sox split four games last season, with the road team winning each contest. Boston has won four of its five games at Citi Field.[/bLOCKQUOTE] It's on ESPN with Ravech, Perez and Kurkjian IN ADDITION to local coverage. Oh yeah, we'll hear a lot about 1986. The Mets do expect Nimmo to be available off the bench tonight. smg58 Apr 27 2021 03:49 PM Re: IGT 4/27/21 Mets v Red Sox: Keep Catching The Damn Ball! Johnny Lunchbucket Apr 28 2021 05:32 AM Re: IGT 4/27/21 Mets v Red Sox: Keep Catching The Damn Ball! I was cold and felt like a bad dad for doing that Lefty Specialist Apr 28 2021 05:35 AM Re: IGT 4/27/21 Mets v Red Sox: Keep Catching The Damn Ball! Rojas seems to be a devotee of the Terry Collins 'we got to get this guy going' method of running someone out there who's not hitting. Lindor, and to a lesser extent Pillar seem to fall into this category. Lindor looks like he's carrying around all 341 million dollars in pennies every time he comes to bat. Edgy MD Apr 28 2021 06:08 AM Re: IGT 4/27/21 Mets v Red Sox: Keep Catching The Damn Ball! My interpretation has been similar but different. Both he and Collins came out of the development side of the game. So he builds his approach not around achievement but developmental progress. And so a guy whose timing has improved because he hit a couple of balls real hard, but right into the shift is looked upon a positive, moreso than the guy who tapped a ball against the shift for a double. Terry, of course, had his competitive side and rediscovered it from time to time. But progressing from two hits to four isn't really for me. I lie awake dreaming about ways to beat the shift. Johnny Lunchbucket Apr 28 2021 07:30 AM Re: IGT 4/27/21 Mets v Red Sox: Keep Catching The Damn Ball! Thoughts on the Game!! --Entry was easy (small crowd, less up your ass on the test results than I thought) --The zip-tied seats thing worked--nobody came and sat where they didn't belong) --Citi Field as usual didn't disappoint with how cold it was. Temp wise, it wasn't bad or "windy" -- but breezy and damp and it just finds you. Put up your hood and it gets your hands. Put on gloves and then the gap between pant cuffs and shoes feel it. It's evil. Once we got back to to street level, pretty much fine. --Stayed in the 300 section the whole game (left field corner next to the restaurant), didn't venture. Beer incredibly disappointing (coors light!) and a hot dog. That's it. --Nobody came even close to hitting us a foul ball. --Had a good view on why McCann was a moron trying to stretch that single. The Mets are just dumb. --Feel like we should have lost by more, Peterson struggled pretty well but the bullet DPs obviously helped. --Did any Met get ahead in the count on any at-bat at any time last night? Sure didn't seem like it. Lindor didn't deserve a hit. --I was kinda disappointed that Cohen & Co hadn't done anything to improve between-innings entertainment, in a lot of ways it got worse not that it was good to begin with, but they "virtualize" the contests: This kid is going against a film of the strongman! The "first pitch" is now done on the kids field (that's OK by me). "Piano man" (ugh!) --Didn't help that our seats were directly below a speaker (which piped crowd noise the whole time) --McNeil needs to ditch Pyromania. Was tired of that 2 years ago --7-train postgame Super Express lives--great. But for some reason they funneled all the departing fans through the Roosevelt steps & side turnstiles and not the big stairs from the park. If capacity goes up any more that'll get ugly as there's too few turnstiles --If it hadn't snowed in Denver we'd have gotten deGrom, so I suppose it could have been more disappointing --new PA announcer (I think). Tries to be exciting, but isn't yet
  4. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=62208 time=1619542148 user_id=68] I don't know how players could stick to one song. That'd be so boring. I'd have dozens. I'd change it up constantly, even in the same game.
  5. I was thinking of a road trip to Syracuse (6 hours from MD), to see them and some of the CPF, and then "down" to Binghamton (1 1/2 hours) but I can't find dates where Syracuse and Binghamton are home during the same weekdays (there's one but the Mets are in BAL that week).
  6. It looks great, BG. Thank you for the effort. (And thanks to Edgy for leading the thanks.)

  10. 1) The Mets win 2) Against WSH 3) Only 2:42 4) They played well! The Mets clearly read the thread title and said, "you got it, bmfc1!" This would have been a bad loss, to lose a series while playing them w/o Soto and not facing Scherzer (while they had to see deGrom) and Strasburg. But it wasn't, it was a good win! 14. It's Sunday afternoon and the rubber game of the 3-game series for the Mets against the scummiest pieces of scum in the National League, the Marjorie Taylor Greene's of baseball, the Washington Nationals. Taijuan Walker will try to be as good in the middle innings as he is in the early innings while the Mets hope that Patrick Corbin is as bad today as he was in his first two starts and not as good as he was in his 3d start. Details on batter v. pitcher are at the link. Conforto and Davis are likely salivating at the thought of facing Corbin. Maybe Villar will get the start at 2B to give McNeil a day to play golf, I mean rest. (Update: true!) Pete moves up, Lindor moves down, Villar starts at 2B and it's an AA meeting in CF. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nationals-vs-mets/2021/04/25/634344#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634344https://www.mlb.com/gameday/nationals-vs-mets/2021/04/25/634344#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=634344 It will be raining in the 11368 in the morning but this says that it will be clearing around game time: https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/11368:4:UShttps://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/11368:4:US Here are the game odds: Nationals +140, Mets -155 HOME: 1. 19. "Quietly"--were they supposed to call a press conference? Maybe they'd cry on camera? A tweet with Sad Mr. Met? Hell of a job, BVW!
  20. KC DFA'd Brad Brach today. Maybe the Mets will reacquire him, especially because they are paying him.
  21. It's also on FS1 which means longer between-inning breaks. John "I'm Not As Good As Ron Darling" Smoltz is doing color. Goldsmith works for the Mariners. I expect Rosenthal to spend at least a half-inning talking about "the Mets culture". https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EzrvOKPXIAUPi0B?format=jpg&name=small>
  22. From the stupid side of the fence, which is easy to do when you follow G-Fafif, I checked the Washington Post's game story. The comments include suggestions that Jake is on steroids and Schwarber said, “It's just one of those days that he was on,” Kyle Schwarber, the Nationals' left fielder, said of deGrom[ ]" as if this was a fluke.
  23. With 2 days off next week (not counting Covid, snow and rain postponements), will we have to wait a full week to see him, on the 30th @PHI, or will he pitch on the 28th v BOS (a 6:40 home start)?
  24. I'm guessing that there are catchers in AA that can hit "as well" as Nido.
  25. It looks like he deleted whatever tweets G-Fafif posted.
