  1. Maine - 3 Beltran - 2 Church - 1 Reyes - 1 Smith - 1 Wagner - 1 Castillo - 1

  3. I'm expecting a big game from Maine tonight , seven solid at least.
  4. Not much to the reports it seems. ] CHICAGO -- One glance at the Reds' roster and it's clear something is missing: right-handed pop. Norris Hopper, Ryan Freel and Juan Castro are the right-handed portion of the Reds bench. Between them last season, they hit three home runs -- all by Freel. Backup catcher Javier Valentin is a switch-hitter, but much better at hitting left-handed. About wanting a right-handed bat, Reds manager Dusty Baker said little -- but it spoke volumes. "Good question," Baker said while cracking a wide smile. "Pittsburgh was pretty evident of that. We've talked about it many times." Internet rumors surfaced on Tuesday that the Reds were pursuing free agent Mike Piazza to fill that right-handed void. All indications were that the report was false and there have been no talks between the two sides. Entering Tuesday's action, the Reds were batting .216 vs. left-handed hitters and .269 against right-handers. They are 1-3 vs. left-handed starters this season and were 23-36 vs. lefty starters last season. Swept three games by the Pirates last weekend, Reds hitters were 6-for-35 (.171) with runners in scoring position and stranded 32 runners on base. There were no Cincinnati home runs and two of the three losses were by one run. Right-handed bats at Triple-A Louisville are possible options, too. Jolbert Cabrera, who had a good Spring Training for Cincinnati, is batting .343 for Louisville this season. Another non-roster camp invite, Jerry Hairston Jr., is batting .421 for the Bats. 5. Last night it really struck me when I tuned into the radio for a few innings and Howie and Wayne started discussing the merits of leaving Pelfrey pitch the seventh inning, it was great , then I go back to the TV and Gary and Keith are yapping about something other than the game or baseball......
  6. Is this a league wide problem I wonder, is David Ortiz getting booed in Boston , he has hit nothing this season, so far. Philly fans boo everything, booed Wagner when he was there after he stopped hitting 100mph on the gun , surely the Tigers players are getting booed mightily . It can't be just the sophisticated NY baseball fans doing the booing.
  7. Benjamin Grimm wrote: ="soupcan"]Anything else before I shoot this off to Keith and Gary? Yeah, remind Gary that Paul Lo Duca was not a part of the Lastings Milledge trade! And tell him that his interview with Rachel Robinson was lame! He should have thought of some questions before she got to the booth! ("Have you discussed the Jackie Robinson Rotunda with Duke Snider?" Sheesh!) BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! And Keith! Casual fans go to ten or fifteen games a year? Are you on cocaine again?? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! And Ron! Too lazy and overpaid to show up on Jackie Robinson Night? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Yeah the interview with Rachel Robinson was embarrassing , I have really turned off Cohen lately , he asked her one question but the last out was recorded just as she was going to answer and he just talked over her.
  8. ] ``Welcome to the United States of America. Brought to you by . . . '' Taco Bell? , Corona ? ,
  9. I think Reyes on third with no outs and not getting him home is boo worthy , booing Heilman is just so bleh now, it's like it's expected , I don't like it mind as he has been just about brilliant the last few seasons. What will happen when there is a more corporate crowd going to CitiField , I suspect the booing will be more as they probably will be clueless types there on the company dime.
  10. Terrible that this happened. From the Snooze ]He was not intoxicated or engaging in horseplay when he fell, police and family members said.
  11. Pelfrey - 5 Wright - 4 Reyes - 1

  13. His favorite book is Baseball America....he didn't specify which year.
  14. How has the attendance been in the new ball park? , what is their farm system like?
  15. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I suspect that most of the current Mets have no idea who Ron Hodges is. Ron's son, by the way, recently posted an entry on his dad's OMDB page. I have often wondered what it must be like for a son or daughter to read some of the memories posted about their Dads , obviously it's not easy to read some of it.
  16. I wonder if all the current Mets appreciate what Hodges went through, can't have been easy being held back all those years from a starting job.
  17. Schneider - 2.5 Church - 2 Easley - 2 Wright - 1 Castillo - 0.5 Pagan - 0.5 Heilman - 1
  18. And I would add that Hillary could ask Bill for advise , Bill was a fine manager in the nineties.
  19. We could rename this board in his honor. Names anyone? RIP BTW.
  20. Public floggings on the mound administered by Pete Flynn in the eighth.
  21. Why do we need a song for the eighth inning , the whole process is the pits.
  22. Missed this, best wishes to your Dad.
  23. The 4th inning is finally over , I used to enjoy these games but for the most part they are a bore.
  24. Santana 2 Muniz 1 Schoeneweis .5 Wright 2 Delgado 1
  25. I didn't expect him to do anything else but go on contact, isn't that the way that plays out just about every time? , maybe if he was a speedster he makes it home and IIRC the catcher was out in front of the plate and not on top of it so running him over was not an option for Clarke.
