I saw it , here are a few pictures of the catch and high five .

I'm sitting there watching the game and I want to turn the sound down or not watch the rest of the inning as Heilman struggles , but I don't. It's fucking horrible to hear a home player get booed like that. The more he struggles though the more I think Randolph will throw him out there because to him that's the way the game is played , I feel for his missus.
-
Fair point there edgy , although there is plenty of booing saved for them as well . It's tough watching Easley play second , he's got no range at all.

="AG/DC"]Maybe Girardi chose the wrong time to angle for the Yankee job. He's got to stay focused on establishing and developing those young arms. But Hank has his own ideas. This could be a good sideshow. As if on cue. ] THE ASSOCIATED PRESS TAMPA, Fla. - Hank Steinbrenner expects his struggling New York Yankees to focus and turn around their season. "They've got to play smarter and harder," he said Wednesday. "The injuries -- when you're missing Alex Rodriguez and Jorge Posada, that makes it tough. The injuries make a huge difference. At the same time, you've got to get it done. We still have plenty of good hitters. We need to get the job done." New York is 19-21, fourth in the AL East following a pair of losses to Tampa Bay, the surprise AL East leader. "No question, the Rays are a hungry team," said Steinbrenner, the Yankees' co-chairman. "That's what our team has to get back." When asked if it was time for the players to earn their money, Steinbrenner said "Yes." Following the four-game series against the Rays, the Yankees host the New York Mets in a three-game series starting Friday. Two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana, traded to the Mets after the Yankees cut off talks with the Minnesota Twins, is slated to pitch the Subway Series opener Friday. Santana is 4-2 with a 3.10 ERA. "To me, it's not any added significance because Santana is pitching. We want to win, it's that simple," Steinbrenner said. "We're both kind of struggling. We just need to win. They just need to win. We just need to keep putting wins in the win column. We've got to start racking up some runs." Steinbrenner will likely watch Friday's game on TV in Florida, but could be at Yankee Stadium over the weekend. "I think there is a very good chance I might go up there," he said. Steinbrenner, in his first season overseeing the team's baseball operations, expects the Yankees to put together a hot streak, which has become a trademark in recent years. "We're going to do everything we can turn to it around this year," Steinbrenner said. "I guarantee we'll get his thing straight next year." Rodriguez hasn't played since April 28 because of a strained right quadriceps and hopes to return Tuesday. Posada hasn't been able to catch for most of the season because of a right shoulder injury and won't be back until June at the earliest. Both took batting practice at the Yankees' minor league complex Wednesday. "There's no question, when we get 100 percent healthy, we'll start hitting," Steinbrenner said. "The players, the hand they were dealt, that makes it tougher for the other hitters." Rodriguez said it's tough not being able to contribute to the Yankees' offense, which has been sluggish. "It's frustrating," Rodriguez said. "It's hard to watch. All I can do is cheer. I have all the confidence in the world that we're going to start scoring some runs." Rodriguez is expected to run the bases for the first time Thursday, a key step in his rehab program. He will work out with the team before the game against the Rays so Yankees manager Joe Girardi can watch the session. "Joe wants to see me run the bases," said Rodriguez, who could play in minor league games in Florida this weekend. Rodriguez took 89 swings in batting practice, fielded 24 grounders and continued a running program in the outfield Wednesday at the Yankees' minor league complex.

Is it me or does anyone else here think that the hitters for the most part are working counts more this season , seems just about any game I have watched this year , Mets or other the pitchers are throwing more pitches than ever. It's not uncommon now to hear that a starting pitcher has 80 to 84 pitches through 4 innings or that a relief pitcher has 40 to 45 in 2 innings.

What was amazing about that scene was it took place when the Marines team went over to their fans at Sapparo Stadium ( where the championship series was played) to thank them for all the support , the fans were crying but also they were still singing the teams praises in song , it was all very organized but they were so loud , then they started singing for the other team to do well in the Japan Series , it would be really cool to be at a game there I would think.

I can't post here at the board from my home PC , getting an " invalid session please resubmit " error for the past week and we can't seem to figure out why , admin are working on it though. With marriage and the baby I am not seeing as many games as before either , that's not a complaint although it's something for Edgy to think about with his upcoming nuptials.

AG/DC wrote: I don't want to ponder that the Yankees may only be just this good, though it would please me, because then I have to deal with the Mets being only just this good. And, while the Mets have Pedro and El Duque up their sleeves, the Yankees have Alex Rodriguez, and that's an ace card. Rodriguez won't be back for the Mets series , looking at next Tuesday at the earliest , things are bad when they slot Jeter in to hit forth .

Yoshihisa Naruse , the star pitcher for Valentine's team.

I really enjoyed this , Bobby has such enthusiasm for life and especially for the game . The fans over there are incredible , to see how they reacted after losing the deciding game five to the "Fighters" was pure class. I thought it was quite funny to see one of the umps grab a microphone and explain a ruling on a play to the crowd, he ruled that the player running to first base obstructed the opposing player from making his throw.
-
Fucking brilliant , I would never have guessed that you would be interviewing Thorogood , he came across as quite funny, loved this. ] How good a ballplayer were you? I went from second base, to first base, to the first-base coaching box all in one year. I got signed up in January. By the time July came around they said, You really cant play, can you? I talked a good game. My lifetime batting average talking is better than Stan Musials.

Fman99 wrote: Who is the long man out of the pen now, with Figgie and Sosa not on the roster? No one , each starter will now go at least seven innings , it's a good question , what happens with Vargas after this start , does he stay in the rotation or go to the pen , is there a move that Minaya has in the works?

Gary's memory was great , as an 11? year old his Dad took him to Shea for the game where the Mets clinched their first division title , Gary skipped school which was a big deal , he made his way onto the field for the celebration and took some sod which he kept in a plastic bag for years in the family garage.

I love the memories section over at UMDB , a poster there claims that Williams was the only Mets player ever to be born in Flushing , that's just great information. Is that still true?

="Benjamin Grimm":29k0t1za]Anniversary of the Willie Mays trade.[/quote:29k0t1za] Oh yeah that too. G-Fafif May 12 2008 01:13 PM You might guess Willie Mays would be the more popular lookup. But you can go anywhere to find out about him. metirish May 12 2008 01:18 PM I love the memories section over at UMDB , a poster there claims that Williams was the only Mets player ever to be born in Flushing , that's just great information. Is that still true? Benjamin Grimm May 12 2008 01:26 PM Yup: http://leaptoad.com/mets/birthplace.php soupcan May 12 2008 02:27 PM Now that's good trivia. G-Fafif May 12 2008 02:31 PM I know he was essentially a warm body thrown in with the cash Mrs. Payson sent Horace Stoneham and that Willie Mays was no longer Willie Mays by 1972...but to be the guy traded for WILLIE MAYS...that's almost as cool as being the only Met born in Flushing. sharpie May 12 2008 03:45 PM I was living in San Francisco when that trade went down. Giants fans despised Charlie Williams for being that guy who was traded for Willie Mays even though he was okay out of the bullpen from '74 through '76. Benjamin Grimm May 14 2008 07:42 AM ="SteveJRogers":2cqwj0s8]Toby "Don't call me Al" Borland?[/quote:2cqwj0s8] Just as with Charlie Williams the day before, it was the anniversary of a trade. (That causes a link to the player page to appear on the UMDB home page.) Elster88 May 14 2008 09:55 PM Sounds like you're stuffing the ballot box. TheOldMole May 14 2008 11:01 PM Don't you remember? You called me Al -- It was Al, Al, all the time... Benjamin Grimm Jun 08 2008 05:44 PM Ron Swoboda is getting a much larger-than-usual number of clicks today. The volume was high enough that I was worried that he might have died, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Has Ron been in the news today? I can't find any reason for his surge today. Kong76 Jun 08 2008 06:07 PM He was on Mets Weekly yesterday. Benjamin Grimm Sep 16 2008 01:10 PM Eddie Yost yesterday was a rare non-player to lead the UMDB in daily hits. (And he's currently enjoying a healthy lead in today's clicking as well.) I'm sure it has something to do with confused web surfers looking for information on fired Milwaukee manager Ned Yost. themetfairy Sep 16 2008 01:39 PM ="Benjamin Grimm"]Eddie Yost yesterday was a rare non-player to lead the UMDB in daily hits. Benjamin Grimm Oct 17 2008 10:55 AM Huge numbers today for the Bob Millers. When I checked the stats a few minutes ago, I thought that someone named Bob Miller must have flown his plane into a jewelry store and beheaded a cat. We're talking that kind of huge. Turns out, the Bobs have Paul Lukas to thank: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/081017&sportCat=nfl soupcan Oct 17 2008 10:59 AM Not so for the Bobby Jonses? Benjamin Grimm Oct 17 2008 11:34 AM These numbers are astounding. I know I'm probably the only one who cares about this stuff, but what the heck. Bob G. Miller is getting the greater benefit of these links, because he's listed first. But he's already in fifth place in single-day volume, and Bob L. Miller is in ninth place. John Cougar Lunchbucket Dec 02 2008 08:29 PM Happened to notice the other day that Rich Rodriguez won the day. Huh? Jeff Keppinger is doing awfully good out of essentially being a singles hitter.

Gwreck wrote: Still no sign of Matt Wise. Per Marty Noble, he may be activated Wednesday with Smith sent down. Like Keith said yesterday , when it's a numbers game don't be the guy with options , is this best for the team?

Saw it Saturday night , Daniel Day Lewis is riveting and Paul Dano is quite good as well , as much as the last scene gets talked about my favorite scene was when Eli Sunday humiliates Plainview in front of his church congregation , both actors were brilliant in that scene , DDL right there was worth the price for his exchange with Sunday. The final scene ties into this scene nicely. Glad I have the big screen TV , helps to appreciate the cinematography all the more and the score by the guy from Radiohead was brilliant.

Placed my order , got the men's black- sleeve jersey and the men's black tee , this is a great idea and they will be a cool compliment to the FaFiF shirt.
