I think that would be terrible for Pete , a big risk

The last few lines are the standout comments Where will Pete Alonso sign? Remember in 2019 when Bryce Harper and Manny Machado didn’t sign their $300 million contracts until after the start of spring training? Well, the same could happen again. For Alonso, a return to the New York Mets seems to be the likely outcome, but on a deal shorter than Alonso desires. The Mets, after already committing $918.1 million this winter, including a stunning $765 million for Soto, are holding their ground on Alonso. While they’d like a reunion with the four-time All-Star who has hit 226 home runs, they simply aren’t willing to give him a long-term deal for at least $200 million, not after his career-worst .788 OPS last season. Then again, no one else is either. Teams are reluctant to eclipse Freddie Freeman’s six-year, $162 million contract and Matt Olson’s eight-year, $168 million deal while Alonso’s agent, Scott Boras, uses Prince Fielder’s nine-year, $214 million contract with Detroit Tigers in 2012 as a comparison From Bob Nightingale https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/columnist/bob-nightengale/2025/01/07/mlb-rumors-pete-alonso-alex-bregman-news/77499267007/

Streaming on MAX , airing on HBO A good watch , SVZ is certainly a very interesting man and musician, the Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes stuff I found really interesting If I have one quibble it's that SVZ to me at least seems to relish in his importance to music , like he knows it , dunno , just an observation

Can't say I've read much Bowden work , but I'm a subscriber to The Athletic ( Everytime I cancel they give me a better deal) they have excellent Manchester United writers and podcast... I'll pay more attention to Bowden. Picking up in what FK said , I always had to laugh when him and 'Dog did NHL stuff, they didn't care for the sport but would have Bettman on and tell him how to make it better, Mike especially

I'm sure this is the first time I've heard of him

Anytime I can vote for throwing bombers from a train I'm going to

I would be happy to see him back , seems like a great guy in the clubhouse house too

Ah man, RIP , great story , Bucket

=bmfc1 post_id=182093 time=1735613834 user_id=73] At Fantasy Camp in 2009, Lenny was a coach on my team. When I finally got my first hit, Lenny ran on the field to get the ball. He signed it and added “To Jeff, A great hitter”. RIP Lenny.

If Stearns doesn't want Pete and Cohen intervens then what's the point? Just run the team yourself I don't think this is the case

I take back my poor taste jibe , in fact it was poor taste from me having not read the actual article, so here it is , agree with above, a curmudgeon for sure , I remember him years ago railing against sports teams adopting black jerseys , on the Vince McMahon doc he comes across as the one person actually looking into the WWF and McMahon back in the 80s

Please lead the negotiation

This is behind a paywall, poor taste to say the least from Mushnick

If Boras can get Pete #200 million then good for them

We have good Mexican food here and bad traffic too , win win
