Fernando's new song will be "Run" from Snow Patrol....

If I'm an owner I'd much rather have the AA team.I think I read recently where the Bisons ownership aren't too pleased with the Mets , didn't they lose 11 games in a row at one point.

="Fman99"]="Centerfield"]Dear Mets, please ignore the unwarranted grumbling from my fellow fans who don't know how to have a good time. They hate life and everything that is fun. Like the B-52's. I think Sweet Caroline is a riot. I'm going to continue to sing it and not worry about what anyone thinks. Along that line, I have some other suggestions as well: 1. Throw back HR balls hit by opposing players. 2. Play Sinatra's "New York, New York" after wins. 3. Put up a meter counting the number of HR's hit into McCovey Cove. 4. Day-O!!! 5. Throw an octopus on the field before playoff games. By the way, I love the unique configuration of the outfield wall. Not knowing whether a ball was a HR for six minutes? Absolute blast! CF hit this post out of the park. Though it bounced off a sign and I had to review it for five minutes before making that determination. After a review I agree

Nice one , I really liked what Cohen said that night.

Don't want to sidetrack this but Ron Darling mentioned this exchange during the game with Valdez Ron " Hi Wilson I'm Ron Darling" Wilson - blank look " ummm" Ron said it was humbling that Wilson didn't know who he was.
-
I guess if your name is Wilson Valdez it can be. I don't imagine Carlos Beltran needs to worry about that happening.

="Swan Swan H":3bc1nt7m]When the net gets dislodged it can affect whether a goal counts, depending on who knocked it off, if it interfered with the goalie, stuff like that.[/quote:3bc1nt7m] Don't waste your time explaining, this board is full of hockey haters... Where would the Mets be in the standings if all these replays had gone against them? smg58 May 28 2009 07:53 AM ="Edgy DC"]I'm certain I didn't attribute it 100% to the CitiField configuration. It's a factor, not the factor. The Mets could help themselves in this regard by having Subway put up a sign that isn't yellow and white. metsmarathon May 28 2009 08:52 AM is the sign metal? i would think hte clanking sound of a ball hitting off it would be helpful, tho maybe not in a loud stadium... really, they need more cameras, perhaps stationary cameras dedicated to the task? or they could get really fancy cameras that automatically track the ball, following its trajectory and maintaining focus on the ball i he center of the field of view. that would be cool... Benjamin Grimm May 28 2009 08:55 AM They should just coat the Subway sign with really thick glue. That way, if a ball hits it, it will stick there. And the stuck homers would accumulate over the years, and we'd be able to point to them and say, look, that's the one that Beltran hit in the 2009 World Series! I couldn't be happier with him , I've liked him on this team from the get go and we need him. Did I just say we? , sorry the Mets need him damn it.

So this is an average outing for Johan?.....

Jeez , Canseco's a train wreck. Has he done porn yet?

Did I miss something with Murphy? , young Martinez looks the part for sure. -
="John Cougar Lunchbucket":2oaxkd05]WoW WTF is Wilson Valdez?[/quote:2oaxkd05] He's not Ramon Martinez , a promising start. Gwreck May 26 2009 02:49 PM Apparently we acquired him from the Cleveland minor league system via trade. John Cougar Lunchbucket May 26 2009 02:49 PM Linky explians, acquired from seriously, I just used a racist word when I really meant "Guardians". His BBR page notes he was briefly Met property in 2005 where we claimed him from the White Sox and lost him to Seattle in subsequent waiver claims. Gwreck May 26 2009 02:52 PM Valdez AAA stats this year: .198-0-6. .263 OBP, .207 SLG in 121 ABs. We apparently only gave up cash to get him. Gwreck May 26 2009 02:58 PM Figure one of the two of them goes when Alex Cora comes off the DL (June 2), and the other goes when Reyes comes off the DL (June 5, due to the retroactive date). Edgy DC May 26 2009 02:58 PM Think of all the haggard shortstops at the top of the Mets system kicking themselves for failing to make any impression at all. OlerudOwned May 26 2009 03:07 PM What happened to the Canuck with the 4-letter last name who Manuel was in love with during the spring. Malo, right? He could apparently really use[/url:13ier4ky] the major league contract. EDIT: Hey, I read all those 2006s as 2008s. I hope everything worked out. John Cougar Lunchbucket May 26 2009 03:39 PM The trade for Valdez has apparently been held up over a disagreement over how many balls make up a "bag." Frayed Knot May 26 2009 04:41 PM ="Gwreck":zumgybc4]Valdez AAA stats this year: .198-0-6. .263 OBP, .207 SLG in 121 ABs.[/quote:zumgybc4] Well then I hope he can field!! Frayed Knot May 26 2009 04:54 PM Both Reyes & Church can be back-dated somewhat so it could be more like a 10 or 11 day DL for either. Other M*A*S*H notes: Carlos Beltran has a bone briuse of the right tibia. He received a cortisone shot and expects to sit out until Friday (meaning misses two games) ... He suggested that's better news than a potentially more serious diagnosis. And Alex Cora plans to return from the disabled list on June 2 (week from today) when he's eligible ... and expects to wait until after the season to undergo surgery. Cora devised a splint for his right thumb and tested it throwing Tuesday from 70 feet and it was passable. He doesn't think he could be an everyday player with the injury, but he can play with the torn right thumb ligament on a part-time basis, he suggested. He batted without wearing the splint. ** both from Adam Rubin's blog at NYDN Ashie62 May 26 2009 05:39 PM Is Brian Schneider around...DFA when healthy traded for utility IF of dubious quality? bmfc1 May 26 2009 06:28 PM Wrong thread. cooby May 26 2009 07:10 PM I don't recall reyes ever being on the DL before OlerudOwned May 26 2009 07:16 PM ="cooby":3ekxmg7f]I don't recall reyes ever being on the DL before[/quote:3ekxmg7f] I remember when the hot air heads were all freaked out because he was apparently too injury prone to be a star, trade him, blah blah blah. Frayed Knot May 27 2009 07:07 AM plus the back, something which may or may not have been caused by the aforementioned hammy situation. Then there was the tail end of his first partial/call-up season when he rolled his ankle on a (feet-first!) slide and missed the final month. Other than those it's just been a few games here or there for minor boo-boos. Edgy DC May 27 2009 07:15 AM Edited 1 time(s), most recently on May 27 2009 07:17 AM Remember the biomechanical tinkering of trying to get him to adopt a new running style? Did the sore back lead to the new running style or vice versa? Benjamin Grimm May 27 2009 07:17 AM My concern is that, although Jose has proven to be pretty durable, maybe 2004 tells us that when he is hurt, he's slow to recover. I seem to recall that he kept being "almost" ready, but it took forever for him to actually return. Triple Dee May 27 2009 07:32 AM Those were the bad old days before the Mets team doctors were fired (I'm not talking about David Altchek who was re-hired but Andrew Rokito and his pals from NYU). If I recall correctly, they misdiagnosed a fracture on Mike DeJean's foot, didn't pick up Victor Zambrano's elbow ailment, among other things. soupcan May 27 2009 07:45 AM Remember that my kids get their hair cut by this chick who was doing/dating one of the Mets trainers? I forget his name but she eventually married the guy. Anyhoo, his contract was not renewed this year and she told my wife last week that that's the reason for the rash of injuries. She said that her hubby totally focused on stretching and strengthening the lower bodies. I mean its a bit of a stretch to say that this guy's absence is the direct cause but.... Reyes - legs, Church - legs, Beltran - legs, Perez - legs... Edgy DC May 27 2009 08:37 AM It's not that crazy when I recall their pre-game warmups in previous years were obsessively focused on the legs. Not that I've seen a single Met game this year, but in prior years I'd got see them play the Nats and the Nat fans would routinely crack wise about how obessessed (and homoerotic) the Mets leg-stretching seemed to be. John Cougar Lunchbucket May 27 2009 08:40 AM The legs are so important. In golf, they're very, People don't realize How important legs are in golf, Or in baseball, And football, definitely. Track. O, in track. All-important. Jumping. Soccer. Is there anything, What? Is there anything where the legs Are not the most important? Edgy DC May 27 2009 08:43 AM May 28, 1991, seventh inning, Roger Clemens pitching to Jesse Barfield soupcan May 27 2009 09:25 AM I'm lost. John Cougar Lunchbucket May 27 2009 09:26 AM "The Poetry of Phil Rizzuto" soupcan May 27 2009 09:28 AM Ah. I thought you and Edgy were somehow running with the whole homoerotic stretching thing.

Good work guys. That's one hell of a mark up , of course they would call it something else , price gouging seems about right.
-
Beltran to have an MRI today , Church not likely to go on DL but also not likely to play today.........a lot of talk about F Martinez getting called up. If not now then when?
-
So I bought my tickets from Fred who has four season tickets in the Promenade . My brother-in-law has been to several games with Fred this season and with us yesterday. We go to our seats and after taking it all in for a while he says lets go eat. We go to the Promenade Club , he's been there every time he has gone with Fred this season. Go to Club door and first thing I notice is that it's just about empty.....girl at door asks for tiks and says sorry but you can't come in. Bro-in-law says he got in every other time and the Hostess who was very nice tells him that due to a policy change this week Promenade ticket holders now need to pay to gain entrance. I didn't ask for details on how much or anything but I'm sure this will be news to Fred.

Memorial Day IGT Nationals at Mets, 05/25/2009
metirish replied to Benjamin Grimm's topic in Archived Game Threads
Swan Swan H wrote: I was at the game and missed this excellent IGT, so a few comments if I may: Sun baby = creepy. Very creepy. Yay Sheff. Right or wrong he is a guy that plays very well when motivated and not so well when not so motivated. This situation seems to have him motivated quite a bit. Apparently Parnell, having been crowned the new eighth inning guy by several media outlets, can't get motivated for the seventh any longer. Beltran is a game-time decision with a bad leg, and yet Shines sends him home with the hottest guy in the hemisphere on deck. Bad call even if he makes it. And Wright should have gotten the bat. A JJ Putz inning is maddening enough when watching on TV, but at least you can flip over to the Yankees or NHL playoffs or something eight or nine times during his inning. At the game you sort of lose track of where you were, like when you've been on the same highway for a long time. Suddenly you look up and there are two runners on base and you have no recollection of how they got there. And that sun baby - extremely creepy. Damn , wish I had known you were there, would have been fun to meet. Anyway our first trip to Citi Field and we enjoyed it immensely. A few rookie mistakes by me , first we forgot the buggy for Lorcan....then parked in the Marina parking lot , had a split second to make that decision and obviously should have taken the other road and parked closer to CF. Got there early to hang out , my sister and her husband met us there......really liked how much nice space is outsider and how friendly this staff are.....liked the Robinson Rotunda , big ass Mets store had everything except tee-shirts for toddlers....looked for them than asked and told nothing for that age...weird.....Lorcan picked up a Mets soccer ball so my sister bought him that. The seats I got are from my brother-in-laws brother-in-law.....he has four seats in Promenade section 424 , right on the railing, two actual seats and room for two wheelchairs or you can grab two folding chairs....really great seats and if we hadn't forgotten the buggy there was plenty of room for that too. Lorcan had fun but it's a bit much to expect an 18 month old to sit for innings at a time, we walked around and went down to the kids area where he threw a fir becasue he wanted to walk around the concourse and I wanted to carry him.....got to the hitting tee and he promptly walked in and took two whiffle balls while screaming at me for trying to pick him up....the line for Shake Shack was too long to wait in , next time for that. Stayed through the 8th , had a fun time and like the stadium a lot...lots of space which is great. Agree with Swanie about Beltran......had a great view of that and could see he was going to be out by a good bit......I have a picture of it even......jeez Razor....didn't think Sheffs was a home run from where we were... Too many walks made this a long game and the delay for the review didn't help. -
They just keep on giving . At the game last night two sections over a Yankee loving , Jeter jersey wearing douchebag got heckled very loudly and had ice and such thrown over him. He can be seen here in a picture I took giving the section above him the finger(s). If you look closely that's him on the stairwell steps with his white MFY cap and Jeter top.
-
Phillips is obviously a moron , the rant that night about Beltran was bizzare.
