  1. I really like these Mets uniforms.
  2. Don't they look swell?
  3. Howie " so already that's 10% of his home run output from last season"
  4. Any free online site to listen to the game?, I had one last season but it seems it only has the WFAN .
  5. Nice pbp Nymr.....I hate the overly loud music during the introductions.
  6. In 56 career games (04/05) batting 6th Wright has .344 BA - 16 - HR - 42 RBI.
  7. MFS62 wrote: Keep that kid away from Rivera's swimming pool. We need all the young Mets fans in Panama to be well. Later I think the forum long ago jumped the shark on that joke.
  8. Any deal that the Mets didn't make or worse couldn't be bothered even trying to make is considered a great deal.
  9. Rox (Jimenez) @ Milwaukee (Gallardo) - that's a matchup I would like to see.
  10. For all you losers that can't view Newsday , some guy named Mike Gavin ponders life altering questions. By Mike Gavin First pitch of the 2010 Mets season is just hours away. It's officially time to talk baseball. Here are some gameday questions: Why is Mike Jacobs batting fourth? Listen to the sound of ball meeting glove. Behold the sight of the greenest grass you will ever see. Smell the aroma of ballpark hot dogs. Pencil the name Mike Jacobs into the fourth spot in the lineup. One of these things should never be done on Opening Day, or any other day for that matter. Yet Jacobs will bat cleanup on Day 1 of the 2010 Mets season as Carlos Beltran recovers from knee surgery. With Ike Davis, the organizations best first baseman, getting additional seasoning in the minors despite a strong spring, and Daniel Murphy nursing a knee injury, Jacobs gets the starting nod. But batting cleanup? Thats like putting a punter at left tackle. Jacobs may have some pop, but when he isnt hitting a home run hes striking out (132 strikeouts in just 434 at-bats last season). Obviously Jerry Manuel is putting the left-handed hitting Jacobs between righties David Wright and Jason Bay. But a career .254 hitter (.313 OBP, .476 SLG) batting cleanup hardly evokes hope on the one day of the season that all stadiums should be filled with it. Why is Gary Matthews Jr. playing over Angel Pagan? Match-up? Both are switch hitters. Numbers? Pagan is 1-for-6 in his career against Marlins starter Josh Johnson and Matthews has never faced him. Perhaps Manuel flipped a coin or is going in alphabetical order. He said both will get opportunities to play consistently in centerfield as the Mets evaluate their options during Beltrans absence. On a side note, not sure how many pitches Jason Bay will see with Gary Matthews Jr. as his protection. If the Mets have a lead in the eighth inning today, who pitches? Help Wanted: Setup Man. Just as questions remain regarding the identity of the replacement centerfielder, the bridge to Francisco Rodriguez is yet to be built. The guess here is that it will depend on match-ups and be a combination of either Pedro Feliciano, the lefty specialist who lobbied for the job in spring training, or Ryota Igarashi. If only Jerry Manuel had a Gameday Questions blog post. Why exactly isnt Jose Reyes playing? David Lennon recently wondered if the Mets brass were being overcautious by giving Reyes an extended spring, thyroid notwithstanding. Is it Reyes thyroid or the Mets recent history of medical treatment that is keeping him out of the Opening Day lineup? If only Omar Minaya had a Gameday Questions blog post.
  11. For prosperity , Newsday Less than three hours away from first pitch. Don't let the absense of Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and Daniel Murphy spoil what is an annual day of baseball rebirth. Opening Day is still Opening Day. Not even Mike Jacobs batting cleanup can change that. Here are today's lineups: Mets Alex Cora, ss Luis Castillo, 2b David Wright, 3b Mike Jacobs, 1b Jason Bay, lf Gary Matthews Jr., cf Jeff Francoeur, rf Rod Barajas, c Johan Santana, lhp. Marlins Chris Coghlan, lf Cameron Maybin, cf Hanley Ramirez, ss Jorge Cantu, 3b Dan Uggla, 2b Ronny Paulino, c Cody Ross, rf Gaby Sanchez, 1b Josh Johnson, rhp
  12. You are in for a treat LWFS, new born on the chest watching the games nightly......can't beat it.
  13. Well yeah , it's what I would like too.
  14. Once again I am working on opening day and once again I will fool myself into thinking that I can just stay away from the score and watch it tonight in ignorance to the outcome, it never happens that way of course.
  15. Manuel on Mejia Newsday Regarding Jenrry It appears as if the Mets are going to bring 20-year-old reliever Jenrry Mejia along slowly. Manuel was asked if he would bring Mejia into the game in the eighth inning Monday if the Mets held a one- or two-run lead. "I wouldn't give him the ball [today]," he said. "Not in that situation. No." I guess my thoughts on that would be why not have him in AAA working those types of situations.
  16. So they could show them as many times as they want just as long as they let the locals in on it and those games don't count against their exclusive games?, that seems to be bending the rules to me or something.
