I'll give you "Offseason Transactions" but I do think there's significant utility in having an all-purpose repository for "minor player traded for minor leaguer" and so on and so forth this offseason. Jesus H Christ .....you sound like a politician

This shouldn't be construed as an endorsement of Backman, however, aren't Wally's actions from a long time ago being held against him?* (*I do realize losing a clubhouse and beating up a wife are two entirely different situations) Edgy DC wrote: A few tweets from Bob Klapish are stating outright that DePodesta has steered the search away from inexperience (Backman) toward experience (Collins). Interesting, coming from a guy who was given the reins of a franchise at age 31 without prior GM experience. I think the fact that Backman is getting interviewed shows that his past actions are not being held against him, his lack of experienced seems to be though.

  4. Well , the Valentine refuses to die.......Alderson with Burkhardt - lukewarm, tepid??? yes and yes Alderson refuses to rule out Valentine Bobby Valentine is unlikely to be the next manager of the Mets, but general manager Sandy Alderson would not exactly put his name to rest when questioned by SNY's Kevin Burkhardt. Alderson said, ``Well, everybodys eligible. Youre eligible Its obviously a name that has been floated, its been discussed in the media Id rather not talk about individual names at this point, but, obviously, Bobby Valentine is a name that weve considered and is a well-known possibility for us. Until proven otherwise, the Mets are in save-a-buck mode and are not paying the millions it would take to bring back Valentine, who has priced and/or talked himself out of every job he has been mentioned for since returning from Japan. Valentine is making plenty from ESPN to second guess other teams and managers. Why would he settle for less to have others second guess him in the dugout? Alderson will remain the highest paid person in management. Trouble is, no one buys a ticket to see the general manager.
  5. Rubin had the same speculation last night......with Jauss taking over the Collins role as minor league field coordinator Collins - Manager Melvin - Bench Teufel - First Base Hale - Third Base Wharten - Pitching Coach
  6. I like this new feature, if it's fair to call it that of introducing us to familiar and not familiar blogs, good stuff.
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Hey, he's one of two finalists, he probably deserves his own thread. As I explain here ( http://mbtn.net/what-about-bob), he's trailing the field with me because I can't distinguish him from Doug Melvin, Bob Brenly, Bruce Bochy or Bruce Botche. But finding out more hasn't turned me off more, that's good I suppose. My confusion between he and Brenly (his boss in '01 with the d-bags) even fouled up the Manager Scorecard. That's brilliant and so true.
  8. Well , that's two tragedies in this thread.
  9. I'll never mistake you for Piazza that's for sure David....stfu and hit bitch.
  10. Sandy Alderson's father struck by and killed by a car Saturday in Florida Statements http://proxy.espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/12066/tragedy-for-alderson-family Very sad

Download their debut release Graduating Saturn and get the special bonus track "All That You Are You Are." LOL....he looks like a proper tool
  15. Sandy Alderson and Mr. Met join Carlos Beltran and his wife Jessica at their charity event in Puerto Rico. Angel Pagan and Jose Reyes show their support at Carlos Beltran's annual charity event in Puerto Rico.
  16. Marlins Dump Andrew Miller In Trade With Red Sox The Deal The Marlins gave lefthander Andrew Miller three years and 220 innings to work out the kinks, but in that time he regressed badly and bottomed out with an 8.54 ERA in 2010. Out of options next season and due a raise from his $1.79 million salary, Miller represented a bad gamble for the cost-conscious Marlins, so they dealt him to the Red Sox, who can afford to take risks with pricey, stunted prospects. Boston sent Triple-A lefty reliever Dustin Richardson, who has two option years remaining, to Florida as compensation. Perhaps the Red Sox feel emboldened to take a chance on Miller because new pitching coach Curt Young had success crafting some of the Athletics' young lefties, like Gio Gonzalez and Dallas Braden, into successful pitchers. With Boston, Miller also will team with ex-North Carolina teammate and fellow 2006 first-round pick Daniel Bard. The Marlins and Red Sox came together on a similar trade a year ago, when Florida traded arbitration-eligible outfielder Jeremy Hermida to Boston for a pair of low-ceiling lefties. Hunter Jones, one of those lefties, as well as Hermida both got released during the 2010 season
  17. David Wright on Francoeur's post-season per Rubin "He didn't play all that much , but he was in every camera shot"
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Adam Rubin and David Lennon are both reporting that Jose Oquendo will be interviewed on Monday. Yep , the last of the first round group , second round could start in Orlando(GM meetings?) Rubin also reports that it looks more and more like Collins

  20. I would think that Selig's successor will be another yes man, anyway didn't Selig's #2 Bob DuPuy step down/get fired recently apparently because he assumed wrongly that he was next in line for the job. Bud it seems ain't going anywhere soon. My pick is George Bush as the next Commissioner
  21. Jose Oquendo?, odds start at 500/1....now , if you wanted odds on him being Cards manager after LaRussa then you can get early bird specials at 10/1 Because we at Paddy Power are nice we WILL NOT be taking anymore of your money in regards to Valentine......you might instead want to spend such money on treatment .
  22. attgig wrote: oh, just realized. no talk of carl crawford in here. what if they sign both crawford and werth? Apparently the Angels will strike very quickly and get him.
  23. I would think Werth looks for and gets Bay money.
