  1. A gif pf Bobby today in Boston being chased by reporters then an impromptu presser while on his bike http://www.boston.com/sports/2012/10/04/bobby-valentine-fired-red-sox/Ofo9kWOqKj5QUV6qqor4EI/story.html
  2. I voted Nats and Texas..... wouldn't mind seeing Texas win one of these things. but seriously, as long as it's not you know who I'm happy.
  3. When Johan took the mound for the 9th.....wow
  4. tautologies????? How long have you been waiting to use that word? I had to look it up......
  5. I'm not down on Megdal like a good few people are, he's digging, sometimes he's wrong and sometimes he's right, it rarely makes for comfortable reading if you love the Mets. I'm not going to just dismiss what he writes/speculates just because it's him.

  8. That's fucking depressing , I mean, those aren't made up numbers right?
  9. A friend posed a question on FB...how come the MFYs with the best record in the AL open up on the road agaist the wild card play in game winners? Same for the Nationals , one person responded that because of the new WC games a travel day was taken away from the division series because of the TV sked so in order for the team with the better record to get three games at home they open up with two on the road......not that I care about the MFYs but that if true is just bad.
  10. weird Bobby Valentine crashes bike in Central Park Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine was slightly injured after crashing his bicycle in New Yorks Central Park on Tuesday, the New York Times reported. According to the Times, Valentine said he was reading a text message from second baseman Dustin Pedroia when he had to swerve to avoid people in front of him. He fell off the bike and suffered minor injuries to his knees and hips. The message from Pedroia was to indicate Pedroia planned to play in Tuesdays 4-3 loss to the Yankees despite a broken finger on his left hand. I shouldnt have been reading a text while I was riding. Thats the wrong thing to do, Valentine said. Valentine is an avid cyclist. He said he was wearing a helmet.
  11. Sure seems like he is saying things of substance , especially in regards to our "core" two this I don't like though Could Baltimore or Oakland winning help show the lack of a need for a huge payroll? Yeah, to some extent. But look: The expectations in Baltimore this year, or the expectations in Oakland this year, or any year in some of these cities are very different than they are in New York. And I think we just have to recognize that. What expectations in NY?, I mean really.
  12. Outstanding Han
  13. Agree, Kay never sets the color guys up(from what I hear last night anyway).....actually, Cone called the Inanez HR , next swing it was gone....
  14. The Ibanez HR was a joke.....even the Loney HR that ended up in the top deck looked like a fly ball off the bat, but it just carried.......David Cone is not all that engaging as a color guy....repeats what has just been said a lot.
  15. Did he tear it climbing that hill?
  16. The point Ron was making more strongly though was if Cabrera wins the Triple Crown then he is clearly in his opinion the overwhelming choice for MVP.....
  17. I have to say I don't really get why Greenberg is getting this AB.....I know the story, just to me really reflects how meaningless this game is and tells the story of both teams season.
  18. Nymr83 wrote: Trout in a landslide imo, the defense he provides blows Cabrera away. The SNY crew are adamant that his defense will not carry him over the line...it was an interesting discussion , Ron seemed to be the one taking the lead on it......one point brought up was that Trout is not even the most feared hitter ion his own team.....it was a good talk.(anything is better that talking about the game at hand)
  19. There's a notion out there , mainly from Keith Olbermann I would suggest, that Francona is some type of Torre clone , very welll respected yyybbb......the Red Sox brought back Bill James to a more ballyhooed role within the org last week and basically heaped praise on him for the success up to 2004 and the decline after 2008 due to the fact that he was pushed out.....it was as if Epstein and Francona weren't even there.
  20. metsguyinmichigan wrote: He won two World Series -- with the second-most expensive team and a boatload of talent. I'm not tearing him down, but I'm saying Terry has never had those kinds of teams. yes, and his managerial stints before Boston were mediocre IIRC. Well, here we go, his tenure in Philly was very Metly looking http://www.baseball-reference.com/managers/francte01.shtml
  21. One concern I have with Francona is how much player power was in the clubhouse, if we are to believe the media....they basically ran the place.....is that the norm?, no idea....
  22. Fman99 wrote: Do you all think Guillen gets another crack at the Miami miasma? If not then he'll get a hefty payoff, signed through 2015....yikes FWIW , Gary and the crew talked about this last night, they think he'll be back........but if that is the case then Heath Bell can't be back too.....is it that toxic down there for him?
