  1. I hear what you are saying Bret, but I hate the Yankee team and yankee way more than the fans, I suppose I hate them because of the history and all the pinstrip bullshit, and yeah I hate the condecending way some yankee fans just dismiss the Mets with things like .."the Mets donna bother me, I mean that team is so useless,Fugetaboutit."....
  2. So tonight I am at the beer store picking up a 12 pack, I'm in line waiting to pay , wearing my Mets cap, in front of me is a guy wearing yankee stuff, he looks at me and says..."huh I guess they ran outta caps in the store wear you bought that", I go " yeah, what does that mean?", the guy behind the counter feels the tension and explains to me, "ahh he's a yankee fan and your wearing a Mets cap",so I'm like yeah I know so what, on hearing my accent he asks where I am form, Ireland I say, he then asks if I like Celtic(Glasgow) and I say yeah I do, then he says how he's a huge Rangers(Glasgow) fan, I just say, "listen you and me don't follow the same teams, I hate both of yours , it was weird, I 'm not a violent person but this guy just rubbed me the wrong way.......anyway that was that...MFY fans for the most part are assholes.

  4. Rick Peterson was on the radio last week and mentioned that he has spoken to Julio and that they have identified some things to work on, based on his career numbers he will need it, 2002 was a good year though... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6709/career;_ylt=AuvDw79Te5X1VUaKsor11NiFCLcF
  5. ]Am I forgetting somebody? The Japanese guy can spot start.
  6. Julio will make the team , I really don't know much of anything about Schmoll or Iriki, I also would hope Bell and Padilla get a decent chance to make the team, no reason to believe they won't, Padilla is the coolest cat on the team, that must count for something.
  7. IIRC more than a few 'experts'(me included) picked the Mets last season to win the east, I'll wait to hear Michael Kay's pick before I going picking anyone.
  8. Great idea Willets, great memories guys, that sucks that he wouldn't sign the card Dickshot, as per the Christmas charity thing just gone I donated to his Fire & Police fund.
  9. I watched the show, God I hate it, Gumbel is a fucking wanker, they can do some good stories but when it goes back to the studio Gumbel just riles me...Ozzie seems like a person I would get tired of hearing quickly...Sasser was on for a bit, nothing much.....
  10. I doubt Phillips is even the back up on this team, wasn't he a spring training invitee?,Gregg Zaun will be back up I would think.Moilina and his agent surely made a balls of this whole thing, I suppose he'll be motivated to have a great year, good for Toronto.
  11. Guys I have never done a live draft, anything I should know, any hints, give me a clue as to how it works , much appreciated.
  12. "Hi, I'm Michael Kay...and you're not"
  13. Mike Piazza was officially introduced today as Padre......He'll wear #33.. ] Padres officially sign, introduce PiazzaESPN.com news services After all the rumors that one of the all-time greats would go to the American League to become a designated hitter, Mike Piazza is staying in the National League after all. The San Diego Padres on Monday officially signed the power-hitting catcher to a one-year contract worth $2 million. Considered the greatest offensive catcher of all-time, Piazza had spent the last 7 1/2 seasons with the New York Mets and led all NL catchers with 19 homers and 62 RBI while batting .251 in 398 at-bats last season. "I just want to contribute to this team," Piazza said. "I want to help the Padres get back in the playoffs, get to the World Series and bring a championship to San Diego." Because of his declining defensive skills, the 37-year-old was expected to move to the American League, where he could also serve as a designated hitter. However, there was only minor interest from AL clubs, while San Diego and Philadelphia had recently made a serious push for the 12-time All-Star. With Ramon Hernandez signing with Baltimore in the offseason, San Diego was faced with the prospect of opening spring training with journeymen Doug Mirabelli and David Ross competing for the starting job. A 62nd-round pick by the Dodgers in 1988, Piazza is the all-time leading home run hitter among catchers and is three shy of 400 in his 14-year career. In 1,703 career games with Los Angeles, the Mets and Florida -- where he played only five games in 1998 -- Piazza has hit .311 with 1,223 RBI. Piazza said he will wear No. 33 this season, because No. 31 was Dave Winfield's number and that has been retired by the Padres. Information from SportsTicker was used in this report.

  16. I saw it before and watched again tonight, unfortunatly it was ruined by TV Ad's every 10 minutes it seemed, still it's disturbing and fasinating to watch Treadwell.
  17. Gary Apple has joined SNY and will do studio work and field work.
  18. Cool deal 62, I just tuned in and saw Anderson hit a triple and score on an infield hit, Josse Valentine just caught the last out in the top of the 7th. This is the Caribbean WS, Dominican Republic versus Puerto Rico, game one I think they said.
  19. Never played baseball as a child but I played rounders, don't remember much about it but I probably was brilliant..I was a star hurler in school and played center back on the St.Ailbie's team that won the Munster schools title in 88.
  20. These cable companies try to squeeze you, when I was moving before Christmas I had arranged to get my cable cut by December 13th but no later than that,I had paid up to that date the guy from Suscom had told ne....cool with me, I then arranged to drop of the boxes and remotes of at the local office no later than the 15th, I was informed that if I didn't drop them of I would be billed for "equipment", fine with me, I dropped them off and got a recipt, a few weeks later at my new place I get a bill from Suscom for $634 for a 'failure to return equipment" charge....it was easily sorted out on the phone but still I got quite a shock...
  21. Yeah that's what I thought, the reference to Tourette's is not something you see every day, I think his no filter for BS comes form frustration at times.
  22. ]Coupled with analyst Keith Hernandez (who "has Tourette's where the truth is concerned," according to Prince) I think that's supposed to be a compliment, not sure how though.
  23. Dickshot that deal you mentioned is just you taking the piss right?, it can't be true...or even rumored to be.
