  1. I have faith in Peterson, and I am not being sarcastic.
  2. Look who's back...or might be at least.... ] RETURN OF MR. KOO: Reliever Dae-Sung Koo is scheduled to return to the Mets as a non-roster invitee to spring training. Koo had a memorable double against Randy Johnson during an otherwise unremarkable season. The Mets signed righthanded pitchers Jeremi Gonzalez (2-1, 6.11 ERA with Boston last season) and Jose Santiago and catcher Bobby Estalella.
  3. From the same article..... ] Asked about the strength of the rotation compared to 2005's, Tom Glavine added: "I think we're going to be a lot better because of our bullpen. How about that?" http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/story/385641p-327269c.html
  4. ] "It's not as strong as it obviously was with Kris and Jae," Steve Trachsel said about the rotation. "Jae was on the verge of really taking off. But it's still pretty solid." Trax on the starting rotation.
  5. Yeah is was a badly written article by him, not that I'm an expert( I'm not) but it was just blah.
  6. Right on cue Bob Raisssman talks about Omar and Latin players... Minaya talk is cheap
  7. Nice bit with Straw, harmless buy cool....
  8. That might be the first time I've seen Peterson without a Mets jacket....he looks weird without it...
  9. Well it's not an issue for me, but you can read here some references to Omar and Latino players and hear on the radio that Omar likes Latino players too much...certainly some people seem to have an issue.
  10. ]Why the surprise. He is a Latino, after all. This is becoming an issue for peeps, M&MD were yapping the other day about how the Mets roster has way more Latino players than other teams, I think they mentioned the Mets have 15 while most others have 8 to 10,I have no idea what the average is.
  11. Thanks Frayed Knot, that makes sence.
  12. ]On January 24, 1980, Nelson Doubleday and Fred Wilpon buy the New York Mets from the DeRoulet family for $21 million, then a record purchase price for a major league franchise. Doubleday, a relative of Abner Doubleday, will act as chairman of the board, and Wilpon, a high school teammate of Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax, will serve as team president. http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/history/index.htm
  13. I wonder what impact if any this will have on the 25 Mets games WB11 was going to air.. New TV Network
  14. This would have been a laugh to see..... You'd enjoy 'Brokeback,' student gaily tells W BY KENNETH R. BAZINET DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU WASHINGTON - President Bush's audiences usually stick to the party line, but the President was clearly surprised yesterday when he was asked if he had seen "Brokeback Mountain," the movie about gay cowboys. The majority of the questions posed after Bush's speech at Kansas State University were the easily fielded softballs he is used to from handpicked audiences. But the Kansas students threw him some curves about cuts to student financial aid and his crackdown on illegal immigration. The capper, however, came when a student asked: "You're a rancher. A lot of us here in Kansas are ranchers. I was just wanting to get your opinion on 'Brokeback Mountain,' if you've seen it yet. You would love it. You should check it out." The crowd erupted in laughter, and Bush momentarily flinched. But with a trademark smirk he fired back, "I haven't seen it. I'll be glad to talk about ranching, but I haven't seen the movie." After the crowd roared, Bush added between chuckles, "I've heard about it. I hope you go ... you know, I hope you go back to the ranch and the farm is what I'm about to say. I haven't seen it." Tickets for the event were handed out by the White House and the university, allowing a more diverse audience than usual for a Bush event. It was a big change from the choreographed event earlier this month in Louisville, Ky., when a 7-year-old boy asked Bush: "How can people help on the war on terror?" The President called it "the hardest question I've had all day," and then launched into a diatribe against politicians who, he said, provide comfort to the enemy with their criticism. Despite the surprises yesterday, Bush deftly handled them. When asked what he could do about legal aliens who are mistreated by prospective employers because they are Hispanic, he spoke instead about protecting the borders from illegal aliens and getting Congress to pass tougher immigration laws. Bush dodged another when asked: "Recently, $12.7 billion was cut from [higher] education, and I was just wondering how that's supposed to help our futures?" Bush said he preferred to call it "reform" of the student loan program.
  15. He'd be a better alternative to what they got last season from Flaherty as backup catcher and Ruben Sierra as DH.
  16. ]I think it would be purely some sort of grabbing-ex-Mets agenda from George Yeah Steinbrenner would do that wouldn't he, this might test weather Cashman is running the team.
  17. I wouldn't like to see him with the Yankees but I'd not hate Piazza either, anyway I don't see where he would fit on that team, they have a backup catcher and a DH, maybe even a few DH types.
  18. I hope this never happens. Piazza to MFY's?

  20. From rotoworld.... ] Right-hander John Maine was traded from the Orioles to the Mets in a three-player deal. Maine could be a candidate to step into the rotation should Aaron Heilman or Victor Zambrano struggle this spring, but odds are that he'll return to Triple-A. Once he does get a chance, the National League should be kinder to him than the AL was. Maine typically works around 90 mph, so he relies a great deal on very good command. He's unlikely to develop into anything more than a fifth starter. http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.asp?sport=MLB&id=7386
  21. I voted 'dislike' but the Benson thread is making me hate him now....
  22. I've read the book so I'm not sure I want to see the movie, and after reading your review I probably won't.
  23. Imagine if we lived in an internet world when Seaver got traded.............
  24. Willie when asked at the Knicks game about the trade of Benson said he was "not happy" with it....from the Daily news..relevent paragraph... ] Willie Randolph, who was at the Knicks' home game last night against the Hornets, said he was "not happy" about the trade, but that he was not surprised, either. "There are always guys coming and going. Part of the business," he said. "But it's good to get some strong arms coming in." http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/story/384812p-326612c.html
