  1. I for one prefer strikeouts on defense to home runs on offense. A 2-0 game is usually more thrilling than an 8-6 game (and takes less time, too). Also, I wasn't aware that basketball had a "three-point area", Grandpa Munster.
  2. Doesn't some of the equation depend on the makeup of the everyday and/or platoon lineups (i.e., who's leading off, who's batting second, who would've batted eighth)? Overall, I don't think it would make a noticeable difference.
  3. Noah. My jury's out on Harvey until he returns from rehab. I also echo Ben's fear of him jumping ship at first chance, but if he recovers fully, he should still give the Mets some quality years. Barring injury, I already LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our 2015-2016 rotation.

I'll even veto some of the "anytime" movies if I have to sit through commercials and edits.
  5. Ty Burrell with Dr. K
  6. They work together if you pay for both.
  7. I have Amazon Prime (got it for the free shipping, the streaming is a perk), though it suffers from much of the same inadequate selection that Netflix does.
  8. Yeah, we got the Roku when we bought a smart TV for the living room and moved the old dumb TV to the bedroom. YMMV.

  10. I have a Roku that I use in my bedroom for Netflix, Amazon Prime, PBS and MLB.TV. I'm thinking the more of those subscription services you subscribe to the more valuable the Roku is for you. I like it a lot.
  11. I love Gary, Keith and Ron...but the ability to turn off the announcers and just let the ballpark audio play is AMAZING. If only NFL games would offer such an option.
  12. I've never seen Stuart. After The Blues Brothers and Wayne's World (which are both better than average flicks), I'm not sure I've seen any of the others all the way through.
  13. The $130/year option gives access to spring games, too. They also have a $25/month option. If you find it does not hold the value you would like, it's easier to cancel than be stuck with the whole season. Like I said...if you have a smart TV or Roku or any other internet connected TV box, they usually have an MLB.TV app incorporated to watch the games on your TV too. I'm a big fan.
  14. I've had MLB.tv for years. It allows me to watch any (non-national-boadcast) MLB game on my PC, tablet or smart phone. There are also apps for my smart TV, so I can watch them on my regular TV as well, so I have no need for Extra Innings. I believe the standard version may be for PC only and you will have to pay for the mobile app separately ($15ish, IIRC). But you may want to visit MLB.com for details. The premium service allows for me to watch home or away broadcasts, the ability to overlay the radio broadcast over the TV image, or to not have any announcers at all and only listen to the ambient ballpark sounds. Not being in the NYC area, I would be lost without it.
  15. No matter what, if Davis is projected to have a prominent role with the 2014 team, I'm hoping Sandy and Terry know the length of leash they are going to give to him if he gets off to his third horrific seasonal start in a row. Injury excuses or not, I don't think that Ike is going to be getting the benefit of anyone's doubt this April/May.
  16. Quad injury puts Parnell briefly on sideline By Adam Rubin | ESPNNewYork.com PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Closer Bobby Parnell's next bullpen session will wait further. Parnell, returning from surgery to address a herniated disk in his neck, injured a quadriceps muscle covering first base during a drill Thursday. He was not outdoors with teammates for Friday's morning stretching, but pitching coach Dan Warthen said: "Everyone thinks it's very, very mild. He wanted to throw today." Parnell, trying to be cautious, threw a 35-pitch bullpen session Tuesday. He had been listed to throw again Thursday, but decided to wait an extra day to be safe as he returns from surgery. Now, that will be delayed slightly further.
  17. While Edgy's plan is sound...I'm not sure that the brain trust has the confidence that this team will be competing for a playoff spot later in the season to do something so proactive in April. There are still a lot of question marks in the lineup that will need to fall the right way in order for the Mets to think about October as well. I'm certainly not saying that it would be impossible, but I think the Mets will see what they have in July and go from there. They could certainly take the multi-pronged approach of the 6-man rotation/signing or trading for an innings eating vet/re-evaluating Harvey. Along with the question marks in the young rotation and the lineup...if this bullpen turns out to be semi-reliable, that would help maintain innings for the youngsters as well.
  18. Not over/under, but I'm leaving Las Vegas today. I put $20 on the Mets to win the World Series this year at 100:1. A miracle would make me a cool $2000 in October.

  22. MFS62 wrote: Because you've watched ESPN. That's why. This. I'm of the opinion that ESPN (and their broadcasting empire) is more about misinformation than FOX News is. Unless they are televising an actual game, I have no use for them. They have an agenda that makes them money and they push it even if it is not relevant or the whole truth about a story.
