  1. I don't know if Terry will mess with Curtis and his league-leading walk total in the lead-off spot. I think you're right about moving Muffy up and flipping Cuddyer and Duda. I think that is what I would do. It leaves a potentially weak-looking bottom half of the lineup, but Campbell, Flores and Lagares have provided some spark from down under during the winning streak.
  2. As long as he dominates, all of the unnecessary promotion makes no difference to me. It's part of the price for the awesomeness. Watching him pitch the first inning yesterday before a packed house that was silent while every pitch was in the air, hearing the smack of the ball into the catcher's mitt and listening the crowd erupt with each positive result is enough to get me excited, though.
  3. HBO has been airing a two-part Sinatra doc lately. There is a shot of Mookie during the '86 victory parade in the middle of a "New York, New York" montage near the end of the film. Of course, there is also a shot of Jeter celebrating one of the Yanqui shampionships a few shots later.
  4. I'm trying really hard not to get excited about this...but come on! [youtube:23irsvqf]ngElkyQ6Rhs[/youtube:23irsvqf]
  5. Per Rubin, the Mets are bidding for their first five-game winning streak since May 26-30, 2013.
  6. Wright to DL, Campbell promoted.

  8. It looks like Wheeler is still only on the 15 day DL. Moving him to the 60 day DL should open up a roster spot, so choosing someone not on the 40 man list does not seem like it would be a very big deal. That being said, I like Campbell. I'm sure if Wright is out for any extended period of time that sandy and Terry will try all of the available options (though, none will be as good as having David).
  9. Colon is the man! It's spooky that the Opening Day closer goes down on Opening Day two years in a row. I'm now legitimately worried about closing out games.
  10. I think "closer" could end up being a major weakness on this team. We have a few options but I have doubts about all of them living up to what they've done in the past.
  11. Less hair = more winning?
  12. Rubin is trying to get the story straight. Alex Torres wearing standard cap for now
  13. Per Rubin: Lagares and the Mets have agreed to a contract extension through 2019, with an option for the following year, sources told ESPN.com. The deal covers all of Lagares' arbitration years and guarantees him more than $20 million. It also includes a team option for 2020, which would be the first season that Lagares otherwise would be eligible for free agency. http://espn.go.com/newyork/mlb/story/_/id/12598620/juan-lagares-new-york-mets-reach-contract-extension
  14. I'm guessing this was the logical next step after dealing den Dekker.
  15. Fman and I have similarly sized heads. [insert joke here] It used to be that the official caps were wool, so that if you bought one that started out a little big, it would shrink to fit as you wore it. Now, the caps are practically worthless to me. I read somewhere that there is some stitching that will pop if you pull the brim (hard) away from the back of the cap for sizes that are too small. This would give it a little more room, but I've never tried it for fear of ruining the cap. I recently bought the standard blue Mets fitted cap in 7 3/8" which is roomy for my head, but I symmetrically tucked a bit of folded fabric in the back sweat lining of the cap to make it more snug. It still doesn't fit like the ones from 10 or 15 years ago, though.
  16. You don't see this: when you go here?
  17. The past several years have made it hard for me to raise my expectations too high, but the areas and players I had the biggest doubts about are performing very well in Florida. These fuckers are wooing me.
  18. ESPN chooses 4PM ET on Tuesday, March 31st to completely re-design their website (that had frankly been due for a face lift for a while). I only realized because I refreshed Rubin's blog shortly after 4.
  19. Cap worn by Alex Torres revised for 2015 Rubin wrote: This year's version of the technology removes the padding inside the cap. Instead, Torres will use a standard cap with the New York Mets, which has a protective shield affixed to the bowl portion.
  20. If you set your lineups before the post-draft waiver period started, they have been reset and you will want to go in and set them again before Opening Day.
  21. Indifferent. Den Dekker had strengths, but they were all redundant within the org. Hopefully, Blevins can continue to get lefties out for the blue and orange in 2015.
  22. I like. I think it solidifies the depth in the pen.
  23. I will say that, while I'm sticking with my 84 win prediction, the Mets offense has been very impressive this spring. Spring stats don't mean much to me, but if the guys can bring the bats north and be as consistent as they have been over the past three weeks for long stretches of this season...then the sky is the limit.
  24. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Didn't we do this already? 84 wins. 2nd place. No playoffs. I agree with Grimm...I think I did in the other thread, too.
