  1. Why I still love baseball: Seth Smith. He's a September call up who's had 7 MLB ABs. He gets the call from Clint Hurdle to pinch hit in the 6th inning of a tied one game playoff to decide who moves on facing the NL Cy Young front runner Jake Peavy. Fucker hits a triple...then scores on the Matsui sac-fly. Pretty cool.
  2. #5 according to SI. (MLB only) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/10/01/bp.collapses/index.html

  4. They won...rah, rah. I'm still not convinced they are all that great a ball team. I'll tip my cap to them for not fucking up as much as the Mets did. At least a rivalry between two teams that should have been rivals for a long time has been born. I'll pull for a Cubs/Indians WS. Their fans have been suffering longer than we have.
  5. I would be pretty shocked if Willie were fired. But I certainly wouldn't disagree with the decision. It all depends on who would replace him.
  6. This team just kept the inevitable from happening tomorrow or Tuesday or a week from Tuesday. This ballclub was just not good enough, and it's been evident for weeks if not months.
  7. Disappointing.

  9. It's like a goddamn nightmare.
  10. Keith said he doesn't really miss the game, but this is a game he'd like to play in. Let's Go Mets!!!
  11. A curly W in the books for the Nats. We live to fight another day.
  12. ="Gwreck"]Tony Gwynn, Jr. just tripled off Hoffman to tie up the Brewers in the bottom of the 9th. And keep the Padres from clinching for at least another inning.
  13. Rauch gets out of trouble.
  14. Sweet, another error. 4-0 Nats.
  15. Error on Howard. 3-0 Nats.
  16. Maine 6 Milledge 1 Castillo 1 Wright 1 Castro 1
  17. Belliard wouldn't have done that against us with the bases loaded.

  19. ="Edgy DC"]KKKKK KKKKK KKKK Help me out. That seems like as much as any Met not from Fresno or Tampa has ever complied in a game. Am I correct? Leiter had 15 once or so WFAN says.
  20. Frayed Knot wrote: The TV booth is maintaining silence about what, how you say ... type of game Maine is in the middle of. The WFAN radio crew won't shut up about it.
  21. Reyes failed to run out an infield single that he thought would go foul...again. Bullshit, Jose. Just plain bullshit.
  22. And another by Delgado!
  23. 2 out RISP RBI by Alou. God, I've missed that.
  24. It's amazing that Chicago is the first to clinch with the worst record of the playoff teams. The Brewers played harder than they have in years, but fell a bit short. The Mets have to win to stay off this list tomorrow.
