  1. I believe this game will be re-aired on the MLB network later tonight.
  2. Uh-oh. Heyman chews out Grienke. I get the feeling the 2011 Mets would be contenders in the NL Central. Greinke's childish mistake costs Brewers after big investment Heyman wrote: Greinke will likely miss his first few starts of the season, as explained by Brewers team doctor William Raasch, who discovered a hairline fracture on one of two injured ribs on Greinke, who admitted later that basketball was a bad idea that won't be repeated by him. Until Tuesday, when the seriousness of Greinke's injury was revealed, he was telling writers only that he had done something "stupid'' to injure his side and that it was "off the field.'' Now we learn it was on the court, no surprise to those who know about Greinke's off-the-charts lust for competition. According to him, he suffered the injury after falling while going up for a rebound. The timing suggests it happened after reporting to Brewers camp.

  4. Edgy DC wrote: My guess is that his hands are tied by an organization trying to get some cashflow. He signs a guy to a multi-million-dollar deal before the sale goes through and it looks like just another crippling (and dangerous) financial obligation on the ledger. This. Also, from where I sit, it makes the most financial sense for management to wait and see a) how the team is doing in July and what Jose's trade value is in July.
  5. Can Ollie play RF?
  6. Terry and Sandy are travelling to see Ollie pitch. I thought our GM wanted to see Reyes play. Hey, Sandy! Jose's in St. Lucie.
  7. I hope you are right (Ceetar). If the Mets are going to win more games than they lose this year, Beltran is one of many pieces that needs to fit into the puzzle squarely. Hearing that he has to take two days off after playing one game in early March is very discouraging.
  8. Bad news...I don't think we'll be able to count on Carlos for anything this season.

    Izzy

Izzy says it's the big-league club or retirement. He's not playing minor-league ball. http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/professional/article_89d299c2-45c0-11e0-9603-0017a4a78c22.html
  10. I'm rooting for Cappy.
  11. Yikes.
  12. From the title, I was hoping this was going to be the new 2011 injury thread. WTG G-FAFIF!

  14. I don't know. He's got his own youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/Weissman52#p/u
  15. I remember being his friend on AOL or some-such back in the late 90's and we would chat sometimes. Seemed like he went to every home game.
  16. The Cards hitters are being very, very agressive against RA. Dickey's pitch-by-pitch performance today: Inning One: Pitch 1: Ground out Pitch 2: Ground out Pitch 3: Swinging strike Pitch 4: Swinging strike Pitch 5: Swinging strike Inning Two: Pitch 6: Line out Pitch 7: Fly out Pitch 8: Ground out Inning Three: Pitch 9: Swinging strike Pitch 10: Swinging strike Pitch 11: Swinging strike Pitch 12: Double Pitch 13: Swinging strike Pitch 14: Swinging strike Pitch 15: Swinging strike Pitch 16: Double (RBI) Pitch 17: Single Pitch 18: Swinging strike Pitch 19: Swinging strike Pitch 20: Swinging strike 3IP, 3H, 1R, 0BB, 4K (2Ks against Pujols) 20 strikes, no balls 2-1 Good Guys in the bottom of the third.
  17. I'm fairly confident in Young's ability...but I'm weary of his health. If he can make enough starts in the beginning of the year to bridge the gap until Johan returns, then I would be extrememly pleased. I think he can win games and keep his ERA around 4. 20 starts, 134 IP, 10-6, 4.02 ERA

    Izzy

I'm rooting for him. He always kinda sucked as a Met after being so highly touted. He went on to have a pretty nice career, but I'd like to see him give some positive contribution to the blue and orange.
  19. I am starting to believe that the 2011 Mets could an 85 win team if Carlos Beltran is healthy and productive (for a full season*). That being said, my confidence in Beltran being healthy and productive is pretty low. *on edit
  20. The model of consistency: .305/.383/.516/.899, 27 HR, 107 RBI, 22 SB, 129 K

  22. I'm just of the opinion that now that we have so many awards shows that we have a season named after it, the Academy Awards should be held to a higher standard. They are the pinnacle of all of the award shows. They don't need to be yound and hip - there are a dozen other awards that can have that distinction. The Oscars should be glamorous and classy. Overall, I don't care one way or the other. I had no dogs in this race and was just looking for some Sunday night entertainment. But, Bob Hope is rolling in his fucking grave.
